See when someone's life is so affected in a bad way because they're an "other" I just wish that they had a chance to grow up in Hawaii, because EVERYONE is what we call a 'mixed plate' I've never met someone who felt invisible because of their ethnicity, and I know that JB mentioned that in an interview once, that she wanted to represent those whose stories were going unnoticed. I feel blessed to have grown up in such a culturally diverse place. I wish everyone had that opportunity.

If you are censored from before 5 years old, there are many deep scars that form to your emotions. I never felt that I was "good " enough for anyone, although I am a licensed Pharmacist, and have monetary stability. Maybe, Jennifer Beals has a bit of that feeling of not belonging to any "one" group and can understand the feeling of not being the "NORM" of the society she lives in. It is very difficult to live on the outside looking in. I think that many understand that feeling.

Also I have a comment on why she cries at this point. l I do not know Jenniffer Beals personally< but I know what it means to myself to biracial. I am half Caucasian and half Japanese. I was never accepted into any group. I was too well spoken for some and not caucasian enough for others. I learned to temper my language to fit the group and also to suit my behavior to accommodate the people that I was with all before I was 5 years old.

I'm sure that Jennifer has just stated her very strong connection toward those within society seen as others. As a biracial woman she has not doubt come across this many times.
