I could be wrong, but I thought the Sunnis consider Zabiha to be meat that was slaughtered by Muslims to give like an "extra halal-ness" to the procedure, whereas Halal was permitted meat that was slaughtered by anyone of the People of the Book, or any Monotheist. I don't think any Polytheists in the meat factories are dedicating the meat to idols before the slaughter takes place, so why is there a debate about the Halal-ness of it all? Is it because of the inhumane aspects of it?

I also think some Shi'i consider Zabiha to be just plain ole' Halal, so if you ask them if they have Zabiha Halal meat, it is like asking them if they have regular Halal meat, because to them there is no distinction. At least that has been my experience. Maybe there is difference of opinion on this among the Shi'i. I know this has nothing to do with the video. It was a cool video, by the way. I never heard of a Muslim who plays country music, but I am not surprised by much these days.

I think youve got it completely backwards. For Shia, There is a big distinction between halal and zabiha. For us Halal is like saying is beef halal? well yes your can eat beef. Is pork halal? well no. Is McDonalds halal? Well, no. For sunnis, there is generaly no distinction and i know many sunnis and went to a sunni school. Obviously, there are exceptions to every rule and there is overlap. Certainly in doctrine, both are probably the same, but in practice it is as I have laid it out.

halal is everything which is permissible, with halal meat being that which has been slaughtered according to the islamic zabiha standards by a muslim, or the jewish kashrut standards by a christian or a jew. thus, zabiha is just the name of the prescribed method of slaughter for animals, according to islamic law.
