also did you know the visible light images and the infra-red images are taken from different dates, almost 25 years apart. ir images are from 1983 and visible light images are from sometime during the mid 2000's. so you're not exactly going to match any objects up anyway.
if you look this anomaly up you will find it is a super nova type event. See the straight burst line from each side, that is a gamma ray burst. The feather like rays are heat signatures. But blacking it out? for why? Look up super novas for ID info and if I am wrong than you are right. Nice work.
