Yes I too immediately recognized the difference in the way she was speaking-the way her mouth was slightly contorting.Her voice was sort of raspy also. Im not a hater but I wasnt a big fan either-only purchased a few of her cds.I also knew that Whitney was ONE of the greatest singers of all time.I remeber her speaking voice in the early yrs was always lady-like soft, sweet and gentle.

It sounds like she has a lisp I have never heard her use before. Does she have problems with her mouth/jaw or something now? I am not trying to be mean, I noticed it in her singing as well. She used to use much greater diction in speaking and singing. She's still beyond amazing.

@j77walker She has a false upper teeth now that prevent her from being able to pronounce the letter "S" the way she used to. Look at close up pictures of her smiling from 2003 and earlier. And now look at her.  You can tell the shape of her teeth have noticeably changed..

@gotcalcio4 without a doubt I think due to the heavy drug use they may have damaged her teeth the entire upper teeth are completely different then any part of her career which is actually amazing because I thought her teeth looked great from about 1985-2002. But I agree 2003 they still looked good but not like before and they are completely different teeth now.

I'm glad Whitney got her life back. I wish her the best. I did purchase her new CD. I wish she would have rested maybe just one year though. Her voice is not the best at this moment. I'm sure by next year she'll sound fine.

Having said that, I believe that Whitney has gum disease or something like that which afflicted her father...he had false teeth too...cocaine does not agree with everybody...teeth are usually adversely affected by drug abuse for many African Americans...check the medical journals...

Don't get me wrong. I do like Houston's ''new'' voice (which I prefer actually) and I don't need to say something bad about her but...is it me or her vocabulary is quite limited? And her general way of expressing herself.

English is not my mother-language so I might miss something.

And the constant use of ''y' know what I'm saying?'' is really distracting. My father used to repeat a certain expression but he stopped it after we mentioned it - but someone needs to tell you.
