it wasn't intimidation, it was his ability to move under fighters punches. Look at all the old tapes. Its hard to generate hard punches when your punching down. Try it sometime on a heavy bag. When you punch up its harder to maintain stamina, but your punches will have more leverage and velocity than when you try to punch with a straight jab toward the bottom of the bag. I still put my money on Joe Louis and there is a reason why 90% of all other heavy weights label Louis as the best.
Tyson was an amazing fighter, but the heavyweight division at the time was lack luster (its not his fault though). People cant hold that against him, but it does play a factor when comparing fighters, not records. Styles make fights and Tyson did have a hard time with a long hard jab. Blame it on prison or Don King, he still got his ass whooped by fighters in his late career by a long jab. The thing people forget is that Tyson had one thing over the other fighters..
Give him the respect he deserves by not letting him in, but make him respect you by showing the power of your jab. That's the only way Ali would have beat him. Watch old footage of Louis and its easy to see where he could have easily fought in any era and been dangerous. If Louis had the same training resources Tyson had, Louis would have crushed anyone.

Those guy's are all great fighters no doubt.... BUT non of them possessed Tysons speed as a heavyweight..... Foreman had great power but no speed... Ali was simply awesome all around... Fraizer had tons of heart ... The thing about Foreman that was cool is he got better with age and had a huge window as a fighter.... Ali had a pretty big window as well... Tyson was the best for his small window which didn't last long because of his mental problems...

Give him the respect he deserves by not letting him in, but make him respect you by showing the power of your jab. That's the only way Ali would have beat him. Now Louis on the other hand had far more vicious inside punches than Tyson. My old boxing coach used to say "the tapes dont lie." Watch old footage of Louis and its easy to see where he could have easily fought in any era and been dangerous. If Louis had the same training resources Tyson had, Louis would have crushed anyone.

The arguments are so stupid on this video. Point blank..Tyson was amazing. Maybe not the best of all time, but he certainly ranks top 20 fighters all time, top 5 heavy weights all time. Joe Louis would have destroyed him, he even admits that in interviews. Ali didn't have the punching power to take him out in the early rounds, which is where you have to beat Tyson in his prime. Notice how i didn't say knock him out, just keep him at bay with your jab and straight cross.

Those guy's are all great fighters no doubt.... BUT non of them possessed Tysons speed as a heavyweight..... Foreman had great power but no speed... Ali was simply awesome all around... Fraizer had tons of heart ... The thing about Foreman that was cool is he got better with age and had a huge window as a fighter.... Ali had a pretty big window as well... Tyson was the best for his small window which didn't last long because of his mental problems...

Instead he is about the top 8 heavy weights of all time, such a shame. Such a talent he might have even gone further and been the best. But at that time, Lennox was not "ready" though he is OLDER than Tyson. Truth is they didnt have prime at same time, so no matter when they fight, one would always be at disadvantage.

Anyway it's not his fault there wasnt an Ali around and that jail ruined him..but that doesnt give you the right to say that any good HW would beat him with ease, since that was never proven.

i've said it before and i'll say it again....if lennox had faced tyson in his prime it would be lennox tasting canvas, not mike. and buster "bitch" douglas doesn't deserve to be mentioned. that was the only fight he trained for and got lucky with the knockout

tyson in his prime would of beaten any other boxer eva. there has never been a other boxer that has punched as powerful and fast as mike tyson. head movement amazing, best eva. he is the best infighter eva and had an amazing chin. he was also very fast for his foot work. he fuks up boxer and makes them look like shit. foreman punched hard but at a very slow paste. mikes punches were tested and his punches were harder then foremans.
