Based on the sound of the motor at any given MPH, and especially the shift points, you should get much lower rear end gears. 3.15:1 is very tall, and you would get better performance all around with 3.55:1 or the basic Chevy standard, 3.73:1.
@HamadHHAG actually 11.2 or so in ideal circumstances according to GPS, the top speed of this car is about 182 GPS'd but after 175 it takes hella long to get there lol
@RandyMedion Correct. I did the zip tie about 2 weeks ago (Drove it about 5 times since) but I am going to go with some kind of air intake (i did not say cold because there are only a few true COLD air intakes and i know the blackwing is more of a warm lol)... but i want to find the whole entire package that includes air filter, larger or better flowing air bridge and the smooth coupler thing... Hopefully then comes MAF and a whole bunch of other stuff. (wishful thinking) lol
@426rwhpC5 I ended up getting a Blackwing but added a Vararam Air Bridge to it. After I got that on and the exhaust/XO pipe- it made enough of a difference for me to feel which is keeping me happy for now. :) Anyways- the vararam would be more beneficial at higher speeds, right? due to it being a ram air setup?
@APBGrrl yes sir. thats where i noticed the main improvement on mine. its like night and day. still cant believe a damn intake could make that big of difference haha.
@426rwhpC5 I cannot wait to finish up my car... i just cannot spend all that money right now. Going to get an MGW shifter soon though and then a shift knob for it... then try to cool off the spending. You know how that goes. btw its yes ma'am! :P
@SySTeM4T1c the stock air filter cover chokes the engine, when you remove it and wrap the airfilter with zipties(so that the air filter is open and wont fall out) it will give you approximately 15-25hp extra
@RandyMedion 15-25hp seems like a lot for just removing a filter cover..lol, then again i dont have enuf money to afford anything with an ls1..haha so i wudnt know
@SySTeM4T1c they did a dyno test with the z06 and first I couldn't believe it but it's true, it's amazing how much more the engine can breathe now. You could find a 98 camaro or firebird (high milage) those are cheap becuase people are afraid to buy, and LS1 engines are known to last forever, mine also has high miles and it runs like it's new :)
@SySTeM4T1c I bought my 95 Camaro z28 (though an lt1 engine) for 3500. Over 300 HP with my mods, leather, Bose sound system, t-tops to impress the girlies on beach days, and great highway mileage (over 26), but 15ish city =/ WORTH IT THOUGH. I love my car.
