Sometimes here on Youtube you find tiny corners that are filled with gems and this is one of them... It makes me feel old but in a good way. What a band.
Strangely prophetic. I saw the Who on the G8 thing. Those guys are pushing on a bit now, but they made everybody else on there seem pretty geriatric. What a wonderful song.
sounds like a hymn to me, always did. Love this track. I'm only sad that Godley and Creme broke away to do their own thing. Amazing music. Does anyone know where the Gizmo is now??????? lol
Love this band and this record. I have read that this song refers to Led Zeppelin, imagining them as old men. Interesting as 10cc seems to have at least admired LZ to some degree, citing them as an influence for "Silly Love."
I only have three things to say. 1, great song; 2 brilliant band and 3 their music is sadly missed.. I only live 1hr from Stockport so always visit Strawberry studio when I am there. Thanks lonsjar for the post.
"They'll play and play to pass the time, the old wild men, waiting for miracles", 10cc, "Sheet Music", "Old Wild Men" timeless! Thank you jonasjar for the upload and the excellent accompanying visuals! A you tuber recently referred to the 70's music scene as craptacular, well, I'm sorry but nothing that I've listened to lately can hold a musical candle to this classic! Rock for the agges!
@eventcone yes I agree the song is a bit prophetic (and also auto-biographic?) apart from a general validity. Aren't we all waiting for some miracle in our stagnant lives, on some level?
My step dads nephew was Graham Gouldman, so i was kind of forced to listen to 10cc, To this day i am glad about that. Sheet Music was a great album and i still listen to it from time to time. 'How Dare You' was bloody good too.
@jonasjar When you put it like that i have to agree.
I should say tho that my step dad didn't actually tie me to a chair and play 10.cc at me all day. Whenever he took me anywhere in the car he would always play the albums and it it grew on me quite quickly, the track that got me started was 'I wanna rule the world'.
@jackthehatuk Graham is a hell of a songwriter.. maybe in the 60th the bands who played his songs were nor fully capeble to do his songs right.. most of what he did was absolutely great....
Without these guys the Flaming Lips would not be as cool as they are! These guys are legends! These guys are proof our parents were buying the wrong records, but hey most of the greatest bands are never given all the credit they deserve. If you just found this band congrats! Nice find.
I can remember buying this album with my first weeks wages at 16. Played it to death on vinyl and same again when I upgraded to cd. They were brilliantly ahead of their time, and sorely missed
I'm not surprised, there's something very moving with this ballad, and the sound is just out of this world, immaculate studio work and musicianship, cant see why it didnt get more attention than it did.

Liked your video! How poignant (and almost prophetic) to see pictures of the band members, as they are now, set to this great song.

Such interesting guitar chords - totally lateral, but work perfectly. Much more daring than other groups. Love 10cc!

@xarshtey6 I totally agree with you, I'd love to be able to play it, but have found few pointers so far, suspect he uses a rised-G on the E6 tho

I saw 10cc in the summer and they were fantastic. They played this track and said that Lol (Creme) wrote this when he was just into his 20's.
I think that he is a very underrated songsmith

jonasjar 3 years ago
förstklassig stämsång vid 1:39 (nästan så vibratona ligger i fas också) och fint uppbyggt efterföljande solo med ursnygga crescendon.
