I once bought a pink Hondo guitar at Guitar Center in Hollywood. Painted it blue and put some good pickups in it and it played pretty good for a $90 guitar. I think that with effects processing what it is today you could make a rubber band on a popsicle stick sound pretty beefy.

I recently picked up a squier telecaster that holds up well against my friend's gibson flying v.

Because he's a guitarist. Although the Banjo is somewhat of a type of guitar, it really doesn't sound good unless you specialize in playing it. To the best of my knowledge, MattRach made most of his publicity by playing the guitar, not the banjo.

Last time I checked the Banjo has 4 strings while the guitar has 6. Also they are tuned to different notes so the sound would be different. The style of the banjo differs a lot from the guitar as well.

The Bass Guitar matches a few tunings of the regular Guitar, but it's not the same instrument. While the technique may be the same, the style of playing and sound created are different, making them different instruments.

wow!! easy!!! :D. ok, let me say this: playin on an instrment or another doesnt just dpend on the instrments shape and function mod (string instr., board instr.,...), it also (and especially) dpends (a lot) on HOW YOU PLAY IT. if u do play guitar or tried it already, u'll notice that the personality of an electric guitar changes radicaly when u turn ur amp (or pedals) to distorsion becoz of the sounds high output level which obviously imposes the player a HUGE TECHNICAL ADAPTATION. want example?
