old mtv, good times, women band had more attitude than somes band's today, children's fantasies of bad boys, singing a pop teen music, the same voices, the music, the same of the same, and that is why live music from the past
Karen Kreutzer is a great guitarist, not a Female but Great in general. I've known her for years and she has ALWAYS been awesome. Very underrated. Miss her...
Never mind grunge, I mean in the metal world alone they had bands like Megadeth, Metallica & Pantera to compete with, and it seems like it doesn't matter how talented and awesome Phantom Blue is/was, I think, unfortunately, the fact that they are females hurt them quite a bit because they definitely didn't get the respect and notoriety they deserved.
I liked the other one too, but the guitar playing is just so much tighter and solid and fucking KICK ASS on Built to Perform!! The vocals are a whole lot meaner too and I love that shit!!
Phantom Blue will have a reunion at the Michelle Meldrum Memorial Concert on Tuesday, May 26 at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood, CA. Also performing that night are members of Meldrum, Europe, Motörhead, Lizzy Borden, Quiet Riot, Dangerous Toys, Saigon Kick, Queens of the Stone Age and The Iron Maidens (World's Only Female Tribute to Iron Maiden).
Yeah that first one on Shrapnel was just killer. "Built To Perform" seemed indicate the band was attempting to stay marketable hence the heavy Seattle leaning in stylistic approach. All in all, not bad for what it was but if you're a person that really enjoyed their Shred approach with the self-titled first album, the second album probably would fall flat by comparison.
GUESS YOUR RIGHT.but I seem to recall that they didn't write their own songs on the first album(can't say for sure) But i think your right the second album wasn't all that i hoped it would be
Oh that right? I hadn't heard they hadn't written that material. I hope that's not true. Fine album. Still got that on tape and cd. Used to own "Built To Perform" but traded it a year back to a friend that really liked that album. You are right, I was hoping for a lot more on that second one. So many bands flipped their sound to Seattle or to the current Rock/Metal sound. Wildside did that and Warrant. Big mistake.
I WAS WRONG. acording to wikipedia the had wrote their own songs."in the Summer of 1989, attracting transatlantic interest, and minor hit single "Why Call it Love?". However, the band resented the glam metal/hair metal image given by their record company, which did not equate with their actual much heavier sound"
if its any consolation they having a reuinon on 26/5 on the whiskey gogo in memory of someone who died
(ps not sure how reliable wikipedia is,which was my source here).
Yeah Phantom Blue was not really so much a Glam Metal band but were a Shred band. All Shrapnel bands fell in that category far as I know. That's cool that they probably did their own song-writing. I had a hunch they did. I remember in early on interviews with them and seeing early footage and it all seemed very original and made by them. Well, thanks for fact-checking it :)
no problem.BUT I think that buildt to preform was more their orginale style.atleast based on how i interpided what said on wiki.if that is so i feel sorry for them.they had a chance of becoming somthing more than a club band with their first album but blew it.vixen atleast managed to give to 2 albums before they started to suck
@gghangach Nope. don't know them only their music. The wore great once but blew it.But thats my personal opinion.many people like their second album and those who came after, but it was to grunge for my taste.
they also didn't like the idea of making a video to why call it love,a specially in an all male maximum penetenary.Which is understandable.but seriously your getting famous stop bitchin about it.based on what i've understod the stripp was full off bands like them who wanned to make it big.they got picked be greatfull and try make it big
Sales never have and never will reflect quality. If that were the case Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' would be the best album of all time since it's sold more than 100 million copies worldwide.
THEY CHANGED STYLE AND LINE UP I SEEM TO recall. And the album got a poor reseption.they are just like vixen has been &now a underground club band nothing moore.Sad cause the first album showed a lot of potential
1) the line-up on PTPerform is exactly the same as on the debut. Nicole Couch left the band AFTER the recording and Karen Kreutzer can be seen in the 'Time to Run' video.
2) PTPerform was not received poorly at all; however the album came out when grunge ruled and therefore didn't get the attention it deserved.
3) PBlue broke up years ago (although they're getting back together for the Michelle Meldrum Benefit next week) so they can't be an underground club band since they no longer exist.
Much momentum was lost in finding new management and a record deal (finally with Geffen Records), and their follow-up album Built to Perform did not emerge until 1993. During that time, Couch had left the band and was replaced by guitarist Karen Kreutzer.
reasonably successful European tour to promote it followed in 1994. Unfortunately, some destabilizing lineup changes followed. Shortly after Geffen Records dropped Phantom Blue following the release of Built to Perform,
Duh.considering i don't know any of the members yeah.I googled a bit and found that..
But i have no problems with you digging built. I just don't like that album. And i still think they would have been more sucksess full sticking to the old style. But we'll never know
Hi! I am sorry but I have not. This was recorded in 1994 and unfortunately I was only with the parts of music. I regret not having also recorded the interview. A penalty ...

Please, 'Built To Perform' is way better than the debut. 'Time to Run' alone is better than the whole first album.
