did you do a video for catchum too? that is the other kaypro game I remember. Actually I don't remember anything about it except for the bad pun in the instructions that says to remember "there's more than one way to skin a cat, chum"
i wouldnt mind seeing some reviews on say an "oric atmos" or a "dragon 32/64" or "Amstrad cpc464" BBC B and Acorn electrons are fun if you want the definitive game of Elite, and if you can get a Sharp x68000 (basically a capcom arcade reference machine in pc format" and review that then im in Lazy heaven
I was 12 years old when my dad got a Kaypro10 for his business, and I junked out on this game time and time again.
I actually learned to use the debugger tool, DDT, to hack this game and enable my own cheat mode by adding walkways where the jumps were difficult and walls to keep the bad-guys from running into me. :)
Thank you sir, for taking me back to my childhood. You wouldn't happen to know about an old ASCII game named Labyrinth that came out at about the same time would you? I've been unable to find evidence that the game even exists so far.
Wow, great video! That computer looks like the most powerful computer ever designed. You could run a laundromat with that thing. But seriously, this is a cool video, I love seeing the ASCII-only graphics! Thanks for making this!
Man this is not retrogaming this is archeogaming! that's not to say it's bad, actually i really like this stuff you show, kinda the frontiers of retrocomputing, where no man has gone before :-O
I used to play games in CP/M Basic on my Amstrad PCW 8256 - one cool game was 'Duckshot' where you fired a shot vertically at a moving target travelling accross the top of the screen.
I made a game using the Extended ASCII graphics back in year 11 with Turbo Pascal. I actually found it again the other day and I was surprised at how complete it was. Would you be interested in checking it out?
You're the little guy at the bottom... I mean the lower case "p" lol. Man gotta love ASCII graphics. Actually looks pretty good considering you're just pointing the camera at the screen. Picks it up okay.
Yeah, this is why I got banned from that library that had these machines.
That beep sounds like what happens if you type ASCII 0007 into DOS, Hold ALT and press 007 on the numeric pad on a dos machine and you will know what I am on about.
Glad to see you got the Kaypro to work Phreak. Also thanks for posting the game link on your message board. I will definitely have a go at it tonight ^_^
Did you get any of those "Star Trek" simulators that were quite popular in the early computer days??? I used to LOVE those games and I would love to see it demoed!
@Ogma01 Any particular one you're thinking of? As you said, there are plenty of them. I have several for PC laying around, I'm sure. I'll have to take a look at them at some point
@senorverde09 Thanks! Both floppy drives are still rather iffy, giving read errors here and there but at least it's working nicely when the floppies read.
@MaximumRD Yeah, it's more of a "if you've got nothing else" and when you had a Kaypro, you really didn't. I guess it was nice for a break from Wordstar.

@roblox296 Unfortunately that's not really what this channel is for. It's my goal to review older games or games with direct ties to older games.

@Highretrogamelord89 Well, that could be forgiven, seeing as Lode Runner was at first very nearly a Donkey Kong clone!
