  • the music was memerable, the words could be heard, and remembered, and sung along too, now, my body may be old, but my mind is still young, and when i sing the old songs on karaoke, i find the youngster do to. if only our lives were a loop, so that we could keep going back to that rock and roll era. bigken

  • still mad about this singer, and the wonderful song , my daughter called donna me! 68 as well

  • Wow this stuff takes you back, You wonder where all the years have gone.

  • am i the only teen listening to this?

  • @shortjessilol no lol

  • @shortjessilol No, I'm here with you. lol.

  • I miss the days when people said "quarrel"

  • Why didn't I know this man until now. I'm a child of the 60's

& bought ever record I could afford.

He Is Amazing!! His daughters are beautiful & sing too!!

  • I'd like to meet the people who decided NOT to play this music in America. I missed Billy Fury, Marty Wilde and the other great stars from other countries. I saw Tommy Steele & Cliff Richards in a couple of movies and heard the great Lonnie Donegan a couple of times, in the sixties. I'm so glad we have sites like this where we can see & hear great talents from everywhere.

  • @boothl232 Yeah strange...must've been some kind of protection rig of the U.S music market.Cliff Richard could easely match Elvis in the rock'n'roll stakes.Thankfully they couldn't keep that up with the advent of the "British Invasion",and reluctantly (6 months later) started playing Beatle records.

  • why must I be a teenager in love???????:(

  • I love this

  • Just great.Brian Locking (bass) and Brian Bennett (drums) later joined the Shadows.

  • ONE OF THE BEST SONGS I EVER HEARD

  • this song reminds me of summer

  • He's real handsome & very sexy, eh?

  • Classic, 1st class

  • I am 68yrs old - this music brings back those glorious late 1950s days - the jukeboxes in the coffee bars playing al the latest records for a old sixpence lol.

Such happy carefree days everything was new - our own british singers as well as Elvis and other USA Rock n Rollers.

  • @tonyWen1 wow you must be one trendly 68 year old if you are using youth shorthand like lol. ;)

  • @chrisellis333

I don't know if it was a mistake, but you've invented a new word: "trendly".

It must mean someone who is both fashionable and approachable. With your permission I will start using it from now on.

  • @tonyWen1 the things i'd give to be born during that time period... In usa of course. not my country. we had communism then. and people getting killed for speaking what was on their minds / having a "wrong" opinion.

  • @tonyWen1 My words exactly ,same age same memories do you remember you could have 3 plays for a shilling

  • I love this song so much.....

  • 240p... just like the 50's :)

  • @thcrazyazin totally. The 50's was the best time! From what my grandma told me. She told me so many stories and so many memories. I was born in the wrong time.

  • @FanofBewitched the late ninteen fifties and all of the nineteen sixties were probably the best times of my life,

but no-one should say that they were born in the wrong times, every time has it's own merits,

my father would have been amazed by computers for instance, as I am!....it's just that the music

isn't anywhere near as good as it was then.....OK...and people seemed a lot nicer! :D

  • Hi Trackienben,.... thanks for your comments. After viewing this on Youtube, I purchased the CD. Now that I have listened to it a few times, I still think I like Marty's version just a tad better. Dion's version is more polished and smooth but I find the version by Marty to be a bit more fun. It's hard to say; perhaps, if I had known this version long ago, it would not have a the same effect on me. There is almost a Ricky Nelson sound to it and I am a big Ricky Nelson fan. take care, Mike

  • The RHCP version is much much better.

  • @bassaddict82 RHCP didn't change much to the song. So how do you like the version better? I appreciate both equally because they're practically the same.

  • @MrUnderdude ik, they are very similar, but i like john's harmonies better, anthony's singing is a little better in a way, and the guitar in this version is not to my liking. RHCP's version is better in my opinion.

  • :)

  • Well, as far as I am concerned, that is the best version ever.... even better than Dion's and I really like Dion.

  • This IS a very good version and was a super duper huge hit in the UK in 1959 - Oh how I remember that glorious summer, weather was ace! But I don't think it is better than the Dion version. Personally I think the Dion and the Belmonts version has the edge but not by much, unfortunately it was only a little hit in the UK.

  • I love all of the versions equally because overall, it's a great song any way. :)

  • Much more up tempo than Dions. Marty was quality and had by far the best version

  • What year was this?

  • thank you for posting this , he was one of our great stars , but not enough is said about him

  • nowhere near as good as Dion and the belmonts. Sorry. Thats just my opinion, but whats that really matter.

  • @T2LSYN Was it Dion and the Belmonts that did the American Doo Wop version?

  • @SurfariSam yup

  • @T2LSYN

I agree. They did it at the wrong tempo here.

  • I had not heard this before. I do like it. Sounds like he's got a little Elvis in him.

    Thanks.

  • SWOON!!

    Thank you.

    5*****.

    Jennie.

  • Can't touch Dion IMO, but I have to agree with dowopper51...probably the second best contemporary cover (and perhaps the only listenable British version...sorry Dickie Valentine fans)...thanks for posting

  • i grew up with this version and prefer it but dion and the belmonts made a great recording too

  • Marty still flying the flag good old Briish Pop and Rock.

  • Went to see him last night :)

  • Besides Dion, this is the best cover so far and there are many covers of this song that were recorded by many groups. Great vid, thanks!

  • teenager in love is part of growing up enjoy it while you can!

  • MARTY WAS OK ,BUT THE FLOOD OF REAL AMERICAN TALENT AT THE TIME MADE ALL THE BRITS LOOK SECOND RATE.

    LIKE THIS SONG THOUGH.

  • FANTASTIC pre shadow BRIAN BENNETT on drums and the great BIG JIM SULLIVAN on lead guitar

  • Ahhh memories

  • reminds me of elvis in a way

  • Being from the States I never heard of this artist but he's very good. Beautiful voice and nice to see he's still alive and kicking. Many of the great artists of that era are gone but not forgotten.

  • @Tonithenightowl He is Kim Wilde's father. You may remember she had a number one in the USA. Can't remember the song but why not do a search. I will after this message. Cheers!

  • @bille1131 It was You Keep Me Hanging On Great rendition by this artist. I do remember her from my kids watching MTV in the 80's. She has a wonderful voice so the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree. Cheers Thanks for responding.

  • what year is this video from???

  • I want to be a teenager in the 50's an 60's.. x

  • Isn't it strange how a pop idle can go from a hero to a zero in the time it takes to reply to a simple request for an autograph.

    .

I spent loads as a kid following my hero around his tour, I asked him for his autograph at the stage door at the Queens Theatre in Rhyl, He more or less pushed me into his security guy and walked away..

He came back not so long ago with a gathering of geriatric reunionists! I didn't bother.

maybe I'll see him in the Sunhome, in niebouring bathchairs.

  • Die Hasen aus Rayman raving Rabbits 2 singen besser.

  • the original is much better. but this is pretty good too

  • just wish i could be in love again

  • Has anyone got Marty Wilde singing the theme to or a clip of him in "The Hellions" 1961?

"Here they come and may they soon be gone: Matthew, Jubal, Mark and Luke and John"

  • i'm a teenager in love...WHY?!?! :(

  • so very good....brings back so many mems.....

  • I Love Rayman Version XD, But The Original Is Priceless

  • i love this song!! rhcp did a cover too but cant compare with the original

  • why must i be a teenager in love??? :(

  • I think Marty Wilde was the most bland singer I have ever seen! His face is emotionless!!! With that said, I think his version of this sounds excellent!!

  • me 2

  • Excellent ! aussi bien que Dion ; je ne saurais que trop recommander son dernier DVD(concert au London Palladium).

  • I just heard Dion's version on radio, and compared with Marty Wide it's useless. At least Marty Wide had a good voice!

  • Marty Wilde is great.

  • Rick Nelson´s version is my favorite!

    But: this is good!

  • wow, this is a great cover!!! Don't know these guys, never heard of em before tonight....but they're very very good!!!

  • Great version!

  • This must be from 1962 or something...

I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!

  • @CoolioRockstar No Coolio... This was the hit in 1959, it beat the Dion and Belmonts version because Wilde was a "local" UK singer. This version though pretty good is not a patch on the Dion and the Belmonts original!

  • @trackieben Thanks!

  • This version was the BIG hit in the UK! But it's a bit on a "light" side compared to the DION AND THE BELMONTS original.

  • Marty`s biggest hit. And what a super jacket.

  • Best version ever..

  • @jaffashamouti

    Oh for those days....

  • @jaffashamouti i agree i like this one better then dion verison

  • PURE LEDGEND

  • Comment removed

  • whoa time warp

  • we had to sing this in school and everyone pisses me of by adding with bethant at the end

  • THE GREAT MARTY WILDE.

  • This would be 1960 or 1959!

    I LUV this song!

I sing this song because i never get my girlfriend on the phone and it makes me so sad :(! NICE SONG!

  • When is this recorded?

  • @zaaritha 59

  • Sure they were clones of Americans but very quickly British pop music developed it's own brand of R&R and within 5 years the British Invasion led by the Beatles swept the US and the World and has never looked back. Before these pioneers and the skiffle groups there wasn't even a record industry in the UK. outside of classical.

  • What a bullshit. Cliff Richard and The Shadows were the first superstars from the UK. In the period before the British Invasion they were huge in world except the US. In that 5 year period they also wrote most of their own songs and sold millions, millions of records. They paved the way for the British music industry. Their big influence may not be underestimated.

  • Tyzos Cliff & the Drifters had the 1st UK R&R hit with "Move It" tying with Tommy Steele & "Caveman Rock". Hank Marvin inspired a generation of youth to play a guitar incl Paul Mc. I saw Cliff and the Drifters in York, John Barry Seven opened - the son of the theatre owner!.

At 1st UK rockers mimicked the US, it was all they had to go but soon developed their own style. Oh Boy had a major influence on British R&R Also Radio Luxonburg and later R Caroline

  • @tyzos

    Don't forget Lonnie Donegan.

  • another great from my youth, and billy fury, happy days good memories these songs bring back - all ways in love then!!

  • Ahh this is beautiful! :)

  • is he not one of the greats?

  • @mronk1

If not he, then his daughter.

  • this is WAY better when dion and the belmonts sing it. and im only 13...

  • How can you people respect this entirely derivative music? Marty Wilde, Billy Fury, et al were manufactured clones of their American betters. So was Cliff. . . and you know it's true. . .

  • Fury wrote most of his own music.

And Elvis wasn't a derivative of any one who preceded him?

Come on - everyone has someone who influenced their musical style, even Elvis and the Beatles.

The problem was the Brits (with few minor) exceptions couldn't get played on American Radio.

The agents, promoters and handlers modeled

their performers on what was selling at the time.

That does NOT diminish their talent, if it did the Beatles would be considered mockers of Holly and Presley.

  • @boothl232 . To answer your question, the reason Elvis was "Elvis", is because he wasn't a derivative. To quote John Lennon, before "Elvis, there was nothing". Obviously Lennon didn't mean there was no music before Elvis. But there was nothing like him. Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Big Band Swing, etc., did not give rise to Elvis. He combined gospel and country and gave birth to the Sun Sound. Conway Twitty, Ricky Nelson, early Lennon, Ralph Doner, Marty Wilde, etc., etc., were just immitations.

  • I agree. And to everyone: No, these clowns didn't write there own music and neither did Elvis, HOWEVER the difference is that 99% of the time the Americans were the original singer and took that song from nothing and MADE it into a popular, known song. The brits sat at home, watched what turned into a top 10 hit, THEN went out and sang that exact song with almost the exact same style. That's why they were DOUBLE the COPY and CLONING! They were clones of the clones!

  • The only thing thats true here is you baby talk crap spoken with a watermelon brain . These 60 s boys were hot cool and brill ,So rabit head whatever your stupid name is go back to your idiotic mates and play WHO IS THE IDIOT its a good game ,I bet you win every time .

  • OMG i am in love...with this song :-)

  • What a song! Whoever sings it, and sings it right. A passport to heaven. An age lost unless you have a time machine. Pure romance.

  • whilst i`m a big dion fan this is the better version, far more edgy.

  • Quite nostalgic for me now at 71

Has Marty & his Daughter ever made a record together ?

  • Kim and Marty recorded Sorry Seems to Be The Hardest Word for his 2007 greatest hits compilation entitled Marty Wilde Born To Rock 'N' Roll

  • good cover

  • Looks like Brian Bennett on drums!

  • why come on this page just to type that, get a life kid your words are straight up garbage

  • Brilliant - great drumming and guitar picking too. I am a major fan of Dion, but I think with his casual phrasing and delivery, Marty JUST outsang him with this one.

  • True Rock N Roll.....

  • Marty is still touring and doing the biz. If you get the opportunity see his show when he teams up with Joe Brown. Good entertainment.

  • perhaps the best version of this immortal song

  • Saw Marty do this last Week in Hornchurch. The song is a little inappropriate now that he is Seventy!

    He can still rock though.

  • I can see the singer never meant the song for himself, but since you put it that way, it is time to hear only bitter rock.

  • 1st song on disc1 dreamboats and peticoats
