Now it belongs to Ukraine, but please don't forget... All you see there was created by the hard work of Poles and Jews living there many, many centuries ago. Just to let you know guys.. I'm going back there in next moth to visit my familys Villa house in there.... I feel so sad seeing this beautiful city in this shape.

Short history of "ukrainian lviv". City Lwów was part Kingdom of Poland during almost 500 years (1350-1795). When Poland collapsed in XVIII century this city as Lemberg was part of Habsburg Emipre 1795-1918. After I World War Lwów was again part Republic of Poland (1918-1939). After II World War it was as Stalins gift for soviet ukraine and only last 20 years it is ukraine. Before war population consisted of 60% Poles, 30% Jews and 10% ukrainians. In 1945 Poles were forced to leave Lwów.
I bet a lot of Ukranians would vote to be part of Poland given the choice economically. I say this not to create division but because people only move if their life is crap where they are. The Ukraine to me looks attractive as it is: Cheap property and the chance to integrate into agrarian communities growing your own stuff.

I dont believe that Ukraine gonna be prepare for the Euro2012. 2 modern stadiums are not enough. Ukraine has big problems with roads, hotels, airports and stations (whole infrastucture). Mafia and bribes dont help. What is more they crisis and political fights can only destroy weak ukraine economy. You are silly.Germany lost its territory because of the war they lost - and that was justified. Poland lost Lwów with half of its pre-war territory because it was what Stalin wanted. Churchill and Roosevelt agreed for that and sold Poland to USSR. Poland had 4th ally army, fought almost on every front of WWII, was the only state that never collaborated with the Germans. Lwów was mostly polish and there is no reason to think it was ukrainian. It's loss was an obivous injustice -and still is.

I would be biased toward Poland as my wife is of Polish descent but I am a passionate believer in a true European Community of Diverse Nation States. Where do we go: Lviv needs help but on a no strings attached basis. I dont believe that Ukraine gonna be prepare for the Euro2012. 2 modern stadiums are not enough. Ukraine has big problems with roads, hotels, airports and stations (whole infrastucture). Mafia and bribes dont help. What is more they crisis and political fights can only destroy weak ukraine economy. I think that we will have the Euro on 6 stadiums with 2 Ukraine or 2 stadiums in Germany.

Bien répondu monsieur le polonais de Paris. Récupérer l'ouest de l'Ukraine serait de toute façon une chimére. Lviv est une sorte de ville du tier monde dont la population est pa. Le cadre bâti de la ville est très amoché et demande des investtissements énormes pour une remise à niveau. Mieux vaut pour ces deux pays frères tout simplement cultiver de bonnes relations.

I fully agree. We will not change the history. I am a Pole living in Paris. Over recent couple of months I have had the opportunity to visit Ukraine (Lviv and Kiev) a number of times. I love Ukrainians, they are mostlz sincere and spontaneous, as opposed to the false and superficial French. I believe Poland and Ukraine should stick together.

You are silly.Germany lost its territory because of the war they lost - and that was justified. Poland lost Lwów with half of its pre-war territory because it was what Stalin wanted. Churchill and Roosevelt agreed for that and sold Poland to USSR. Poland had 4th ally army, fought almost on every front of WWII, was the only state that never collaborated with the Germans. Lwów was mostly polish and there is no reason to think it was ukrainian. It's loss was an obivous injustice -and still is.

I was just making jest at some Polish guy making jingoistic statements about former Polish and Austrian territory that is now part of the Ukraine by pointing out why shouldn't Germany get their land in Poland back to try to show the pointlessness of such jingoistic talk.

My father in law is Polish. I know nothing of the problems here. Lviv is a great city be it in the Ukraine. My children have Polish blood in their veins. I am 100% English. I hope the Ukraine can one day become an EU member. I'm sure Ukraine will satisfy the high standards the EU demand for membership The Ukraine belongs in the EU as a modern western democracy.

To the polish i would say that they are better to forget about taking back the city of Lviv. Because the germans can also have very good pretention on large parts of the territory of western Poland. Ukrainians and Polish should be brothers
