@7855waldo Stage performers of all kinds wear heavy makeup because of the lights. First off, lights that bright will drown out the features of the face including cheek bones and even eyebrows so they have to make them much heavier to even show up under the lights. Plus, lights that bright can actually give you sunburn quite bad and the makeup helps to protect against it.
