i have long creepy spider fingers and i still can't play the stretch from 3rd fret to 7th fret. i think john has enormous hands that have a lot of width which allows him to reach so easily. i just play the octave when i come to that stretch. hope that helps someone else
I played a Clapton Signature Martin and they referred to it as a Parlour Size. I later bought a Maton EGB 808, made famous by Tommy Emmanuel. It is also a Parlour Size.
They are smaller bodied and shorter than the Dreadnought by maybe 4 inches. They are more comfortable to play especially if you have to play for an hour or more lol.
b/c i went with the smaller option too and adopted a mini Jay Turser. so far they're the only ones (besides a Taylor but i'm not that rich) that makes mini guitars.
but the JT is pretty cheap. i'm having issues now with the action and sometimes the tone. but it's great to jam around with. my tone issues must be coming from the cheap strings haha.
but his sig martin was almost the same size as the sig Clapton martin? how small are we talking about here?
@1BrknHrtdRomeo I had the same issue. all you need to do is play the bass note on the 5fth fret of the D string when you have to make your move away from the g on the low E. it's sounds a little weird... but it is the same bass note, just played on a different string..
Ppl are always talking about being quiet during this song, but when ppl were yelling John looked out is this video and had a smile on his face at 0:35
nice haircut

jesus i'm just watching this again and it blows my mind. i can't friggin reach that far dammit!
i kinda gave up tho. i just went without having to play the bass note. it's not perfect but sounds as good =p
any guitar player who can sing/play neon without a stumble is a pro in my book haha

SERIOUSLY! But is doesnt matter that much if you just eliminate the E string on that part.
