this guy was on fire the first 6-8 weeks of the 2006-2007 season. i thought we had a franchise qb in him. he totally broke down after the arizona game, and just wasn't the same. i still supported him, and still do.
im huge skin fans too, and i think we should keep him for cautionary reasons because he knows the system but come on man its not getting help or not....it's him! we can have calvin johnson, andre johnson, and wes welker, and grossman will still have 20+ interceptions and we might be 7-9 at best. we need rg3 or flynn. but you might get your wish about grossman because i dont think we'll get either.

No one is going to come in now and learn the offense. The offense they run in Washington is perfect for him. He only had one 300 yard game before last season. He had two in three games last season. @scoper156 heres the difference in 2006 the o-line was great (old) but still pretty great he was only sacked 21 times when the bears superbowl compared to cutler who was sacked 52 times more than twice as often. in addition, grossman was way more injury prone than cutler. cutler in his two season with the bears cutler missed a game and a half and then the nfc championship game. grossman on the otherhand in his 3 years as a starter: 28 games missed 20 finished. he wasnt awful but not franchise qb

Grossman is a starter caliber QB in my opinion. There are flaws in his methods but nothing that can't be fixed by good coaching which he sorely lacked in Chicago. Grossman, Orton and Cutler's lackluster performance in Chicago had one thing in common.....the same OC. If he finally lands in a team with an OC that can actually play to his strengths, I think he would be able to revive his career.
My brother and I always will and have backed up Rex whenever the conversation is brought up. I spent one night partying at a college talking to a kid for an hour and a half about why I think Rex Grossman is a good qb. We argued, nearly fought and had to be restrained. He got offended i liked Rex and I got offended he said Rex sucks lol. Wasn't anything serious. Just drunk college kids. Either way, Rex is still my guy!

I can't believe there are still people around that think Rex is a quality NFL caliber QB. Pretty funny. He was surrounded by the best defense in football, one of the best ground games, one of the best O-lines, and a solid WR corp. He still put up mediocre numbers in 2006.

In the second half of the season, the Bears pass offense was towards the bottom of the league. Underscoring? How? He had BELOW average numbers, with a top ground game and defense backing him up. Please, name one other successful QB in the history of the game who was under six feet tall, and immobile....
The 3000 yards and 23 touchdowns he threw for were good enough for 14th and 8th in the NFL. Those are good numbers since they're in the top half of the league. Do you know how many times the Bears were in the top half of the NFL in passing in the ten years be 2006? Twice, one of those years being the 2001 season. That is how you are underscoring him. You mean like the time he threw for 3oo yards against TB, or the times he threw for 2 or more touchdowns?
If you want to count the two games where Lovie started pulling starters, then yea, that would probably hurt the average. That top ground game? The one that was 15th in yards, and 23rd in yards per attempt? The one that, were it not for a 51 yard rush by Thomas Jones, would've finished with only 60 yards rushing in the Super Bowl? @bjchit Lovie only pulled Rex one game, vs GB. He had a zero passer rating. Yes, the Bears had what was widely considered one of the best ground game in the NFL in 2006. Especially in the late season, and playoffs. 119 yards per game is a very solid run game. Rex Grossman is listed between 5"11 and 6"1. Most analysts say he MIGHT be pushing six feet. Look, in a year in which he was surrounded with every piece needed to win a super bowl. He put up slightly below average numbers. Enough said.
He also pulled him in Detriot, that's why the Bears barely beat them. In a game that didn't matter by that point. Yea, it's solid, not top of the line run game like you tried to claim. Actually he put up above average numbers in every catogory except in completions and INT's, in which case he was just slightly below in both. That's enough said.

He'll go on to spend his final years as a stop gap/journeymen QB, or as a very good backup. 250 plus yards, with multiple turnovers, and putting up just over 20 points vs a bad Cardinals defense at home, isn't impressive.

An ancient Mussiad Muhammad, and Devin Hester, who was being played all over the place his first two years, is not a solid WR corp. That offensive line also sent two QBs onto IR in 2007.

@HKISfreak1 Well, he did throw OVER 40 times against Arizona. I said NEAR 40 times. As in the last two games, in which he threw 35 and 38 times. You SHOULD throw for near 300 yards when you're throwing that many times. He's not good, and he only looks good vs bad teams. When he plays good defense's he makes poor decisions, and just looks downright bad. You get pressure on him, and he's awful. The best game he played this year was against Dallas. A middle of the pack pass defense.
@richig761 ive seen many QBs throw as much as rex does and not get as many yards, he isnt great, but hes better than alot QBs ive seen in the league, he can play well against good teams too, if hes in good rex mode, hes inconsistent, you dont know what youll get out of him, ive seen him have a lights out game against good defenses and a downright terrible game against bad defenses, i dont think he should be cut next year, he knows the offense and can get you some wins.

Cutler...grossman had a line when he played...cutler comes in our oline decided to play good week 16 against Minnesota and when they did he had 4 TD's and 1 pick for 287 yards i think and he just dominated on the deep ball because he actually had to time to set his feet in the pocket so yea and plus he didn't have a brandon marshal or eddie royal he has inexprienced receivers in hester and yea bennett is not bad and neither is knox but Devin aromoshudo is a beast lol

I'm happy that one monday lovie and turner might get fired. Rex is a good QB. He was treated like shit by stupid media and fans that know nothing about football. Rex has a very poor O-line which would fail in like 1-2 secs. When they did protect him good he made great passes. Rex's Deep ball is a hell of alot better then Cutler's.

@jced29 Rex is nothing more than a solid backup in Washington. That's all they have in mind for his future. If the lockout ends remotely soon, a veteran QB could EASILY come in and learn the system. I'd honestly give John Beck a better shot at starting. He's young, and nobody has seen all that much of him. GM's and coaches know what you're getting with Rex by now. It's also much easier to come in the middle of the season like Rex did, and put up decent numbers. When nobody's seen film on you.

@scoper156 heres the difference in 2006 the o-line was great (old) but still pretty great he was only sacked 21 times when the bears superbowl compared to cutler who was sacked 52 times more than twice as often. in addition, grossman was way more injury prone than cutler. cutler in his two season with the bears cutler missed a game and a half and then the nfc championship game. grossman on the otherhand in his 3 years as a starter: 28 games missed 20 finished. he wasnt awful but not franchise qb

Grossman is a starter caliber QB in my opinion. There are flaws in his methods but nothing that can't be fixed by good coaching which he sorely lacked in Chicago. Grossman, Orton and Cutler's lackluster performance in Chicago had one thing in common.....the same OC. If he finally lands in a team with an OC that can actually play to his strengths, I think he would be able to revive his career.

My brother and I always will and have backed up Rex whenever the conversation is brought up. I spent one night partying at a college talking to a kid for an hour and a half about why I think Rex Grossman is a good qb. We argued, nearly fought and had to be restrained. He got offended i liked Rex and I got offended he said Rex sucks lol. Wasn't anything serious. Just drunk college kids. Either way, Rex is still my guy!

In the second half of the season, the Bears pass offense was towards the bottom of the league. Underscoring? How? He had BELOW average numbers, with a top ground game and defense backing him up. The one that was 15th in yards, and 23rd in yards per attempt? The one that, were it not for a 51 yard rush by Thomas Jones, would've finished with only 60 yards rushing in the Super Bowl? @bjchit Lovie only pulled Rex one game, vs GB. He had a zero passer rating. Yes, the Bears had what was widely considered one of the best ground game in the NFL in 2006. Especially in the late season, and playoffs. 119 yards per game is a very solid run game. Rex Grossman is listed between 5"11 and 6"1. Most analysts say he MIGHT be pushing six feet. No success? He lead a team to the Super Bowl in his first full year as a starter. It took Peyton almost 10 years to do that. You know who else was on 3 teams? Jim Plunkett. He had a decent running game, which was destroyed soon after when the Bears shipped Thomas Jones. An ancient Mussiad Muhammad, and Devin Hester, who was being played all over the place his first two years, is not a solid WR corp. That offensive line also sent two QBs onto IR in 2007.

@richig761 i love how you didnt mention that his 289 yard 3TD performance was against the a good team like thecowboys, who won because of graham gano and no one else. and i dont know if youve heard, but the seahawks defense is pretty damn good...

@HKISfreak1 Oh my God. He's a good backup. No one is disputing that. If you think he's an NFL starter, you're delusional. 10 TD's 15 INT's and a 73 passer rating is a very subpar NFL QB. The Seahawks run D is VERY good. Their pass D is not so much. Their a bad team, and the Skins barely pulled it out. Yet, you're bragging about it. He did not throw 3 TD's vs DAL... 2 TD's 1 INT. His yardage numbers are always inflated, as their throwing the ball all the time.

@richig761 they dont throw the ball all the time, they set up the throwing with their running game and play action. stop trying to make excuses for that, aaron rodgers and tom brady throw more than grossman, . are their yardage numbers inflated? (not comparing grossman to those QBs at all btw lol) im not saying rex is a good QB but he is still a servicable stop gap guy that can help a rebuilding team. hes been pretty accurate in the two games too btw..

@HKISfreak1 I never said he wasn't a SERVICEABLE stop gap guy. I still would definitely take him as a backup in Chicago. He's nothing more than that though. Yes, Rex has thrown the ball near 40 times in both of the last two games you're talking about. Of course he should be thrown for near 300 yards. Probably more. He's 31, and he's thrown for more INT's than TD's in his career. It's time for the fanboys to give it up. He'll never be anything more than a backup, or a short term stopgap guy.

@richig761 he hasnt thrown 40 times in any game this season, and im not saying hell ever be a great QB, im just saying that is OKAY as a starter for a team with a decent running game and a good defense like the redskins have

@HKISfreak1 Well, he did throw OVER 40 times against Arizona. I said NEAR 40 times. As in the last two games, in which he threw 35 and 38 times. You SHOULD throw for near 300 yards when you're throwing that many times. He's not good, and he only looks good vs bad teams. When he plays good defense's he makes poor decisions, and just looks downright bad. You get pressure on him, and he's awful. The best game he played this year was against Dallas. A middle of the pack pass defense.

@richig761 ive seen many QBs throw as much as rex does and not get as many yards, he isnt great, but hes better than alot QBs ive seen in the league, he can play well against good teams too, if hes in good rex mode, hes inconsistent, you dont know what youll get out of him, ive seen him have a lights out game against good defenses and a downright terrible game against bad defenses, i dont think he should be cut next year, he knows the offense and can get you some wins.

@richig761 plus rex threw for 8 yards a pass vs the cowboys and 9 yards a pass vs the seahawks, those are pretty decent yardage numbers, plus tarvaris jackson threw the ball 30 times, and only had 140 yards...

@bjchit What? LOL, he's 5-5 this year as a starter with 13 INT's 18 TD's and a 70 passer rating. That's well below average numbers. Also, the Seahawks defense is in the middle of the pack as far as defending the pass goes. Honestly, you're still going on about this? He's been to three teams, and has proven to be nothing more than a solid backup or at the most a stop gap guy. Just stop... this is kind of pathetic that people still think he's this great QB.

@richig761 omg thank you!! somebody who actually knows what they're talking aobut! rex is a low level second string to a top 3rd string at best. he's not going to win games hes going to give other teams the ball so therefore we will lose games. he doesnt have the arm strength to make a play but yet tries to and that gets him in trouble. his short passes are questionable. we need a starting nfl QB. rex seems like a NICE GUY but he is not THE GUY

@BuddyAcesPRESENTS I'm a Bears fan, and I love Rex. I used to be a big supporter of him after the Bears super bowl run. However, he just doesn't have what it takes to have long term success in this league. He's inaccurate, and honestly... how many QB's under six foot, that have been immobile have had success in this league? None. He's a solid backup. That's all.

Cutler...grossman had a line when he played...cutler comes in our oline decided to play good week 16 against Minnesota and when they did he had 4 TD's and 1 pick for 287 yards i think and he just dominated on the deep ball because he actually had to time to set his feet in the pocket so yea and plus he didn't have a brandon marshal or eddie royal he has inexprienced receivers in hester and yea bennett is not bad and neither is knox but Devin aromoshudo is a beast lol

Thats what im sayin'. When Rex first came in 03 he had a line. and 04-05,06-07, and the 2007 season i don't know what happen but our line broke down and it just got worse in the 09 season tomorrow is our last game. I'm happy that one monday lovie and turner might get fired. If they don't and our GM Jerry Angelo take's the blame he's the one thats gonna get fired. so if i were him i would fire them. wish us luck in 2010

Rex is a good QB. He was treated like shit by stupid media and fans that know nothing about football. Rex has a very poor O-line which would fail in like 1-2 secs. When they did protect him good he made great passes. Rex's Deep ball is a hell of alot better then Cutler's.

Rex was a good Q.B...........too bad he couldn`t last a whole season healthy.
I was happy with Orton but hopefully Cutler will take us back to the Super Bowl soon.

No, in 2006, Grossman played in all 16 games the regular season, plus all 3 games in the playoffs. Orton didn't didn't see a snap that year.
