It seems to be based on a young Temujin (Genghis Khan). It is deffinately a Mongolian setting.

I saw this historical Chinese animation set in the Medieval age about their kingdoms. I do not know the title, but I can remember the battlescenes were shockingly brutal. There was one particular scene I can remember where they burned this corrupt politician and he burned for days because he was so fat.

Country of origin doesn't determine quality of films (although what's shown on this video is impressive). However, I do agree that there is a lot media from around the world don't get much exposure. There is an animated version of "Chinese Ghost Story" if you are interested.
