Nobody would modify the Mclaren because it would destroy the value. It's a classic car now. Just like how stock muscle cars in mint condition are worth over 100K now but modded ones aren't worth nearly as much. It would be cool to see a modded Mclaren F1 but it would blasphemy to do it a the same time.

I was watching more videos of Mclarens last night and saw one of a Mclaren that had an engine fire. The rear 1/3 of the car burned up but the front looks fine. That would be an awesome project car. Drop some crazy engine in there and rebuild the back end. As far as I know that car hasn't been rebuilt.

theres no set price but I believe F1s go for 1.5-2 mill these days, more than a normal veyron but less than a *special edition* veyron. Not bad for a 15 or so year old car (93-98 was production run)
McLaren could easily design a modern F1 which could beat the Bugatti Veyron. The thing is to make such a car profitable, and the Veyron actually is a loss affair for Volkswagen. The amount of money invested in it and the cost of building one is more than the what they will ever earn from selling them.
Right now McLaren is planning an all new model range, and they started with their new entry model MP4-12C, meant as their big seller. The successor to the F1 will come eventually.
because when presented in 1994 the world was still recovering from the low conjucture in the global economy, and spending insane amounts of money on a car was far from the insane days of the late 80's when cars like the Porsche 959 and Ferrari F40 became more expensive used than new.
The McLaren F1 was almost a million dollars back in 1994 so a selected few in the world could afford it back then.

Its not a GTR anyway, its a standard F1 with a LM engine (1 of 2) in it and I believe it was the first F1 with the High Downforce Package (just the front bumper/wing) to be fitted... its not trying to be something it isn't (IE being retrofitted into a GTR)

The veyron is AWD, faster than a McLaren F1 in every aspect. 0-60,0-100,0-200, and in top speed. Now I must add that the McLaren F1 does look a little better than the Veyron but the Veyron is a great looking car also. Im not taking nothing away from the F1 it is a absolute EPIC car. It just is not a practical every day car. I mean its a feat alone for the Veyron weighing 4400 pounds to go from knot-60 in 2.5 seconds.

McLaren built officially (but some people have converted their race GTRs to street use and also in papaya orange) built 5 "LM" Mclarens, essentially a GTR for the street (without a race cockpit) and this car has an "LM" engine (more horse power)

@Ryacuski The F1 is more expensive I think especially this version. You can look it up on classicdriver there are some CLK GTR's for sale there which are around 850.000 pounds. An F1 is more expensive than that.

Silly question - is the LM engine not just the same as the original engine, because according to wiki (not the most reliable source, I know, but I don't have time to check elsewhere at the moment) the LM is just an unrestricted version of the GTR engine, which itself is just a restricted version of the original?
Well, its called the LM engine because it is the same engine used in the F1 LM which was a GTR with an interior and street legal (yea, I know some GTRs in england/europe have been made street legal since... but i'm talking about originally)
if you read about the crash tested car (they had to crash, because of law), after it did the front impact, it was able to drive away lol its a strong car.
to me this is still the worlds fastest production car, its so legit. doesnt use any traction control, any of the gadgets we have today. and its NA! and it can hit up to 240mph? and can put up that much of fight against the veyron on a straightaway race without any forced induction and with less power and cylinders? that sounds alot more amazing to me than the veyron already. and im willing to bet that this car would handle a veyron at a circuit track like nothing
top gear did a race against the F1 and the veyron and the F1 had a faster takeoff but after the turbo's spooled up on the veryon it was gone... remember the f1 has a better power to weight ratio

Does anyone know if it's possible to fit a twin turbo on the McLaren F1?
Just to imagine how fast it really could be with twin turbo, and when it allready do 390 kph with the limiter off, how fast could it be with turbo?
Maybe it could set the new world speed record like the Dagger Gt company intend to do?

The last 3 races on hot pursuit were super hard , racing on a race track instead of on the street , i always used the orange Mclaren F1 long tail.

For one thing the Veyron is not ugly... Well lets see here on the Top Gear track it had a very very fast time. and for the Ring it was driven by a non professional. He was a reporter. Not only that but the track was not clear. So there was overtaking which cuts down on the lap time. So your the idiot here. The Veyron can take a corner maybe not as good as the F1 but it was not built to take a corner. Learn your facts and do some research before bashing the best car in the world! From "the idiot"

But by you saying "cornering?" to me means that your saying it can't take a corner. a 1:18.3 on the Top Gear track. Hmm thats a damn good lap time. So by me saying learn your facts... no its not, Its a Normal F1 with a LM High Downforce Kit (GTR body panels and a wing) and it does have an LM engine in it.

McLaren built officially (but some people have converted their race GTRs to street use and also in papaya orange) built 5 "LM" Mclarens, essentially a GTR for the street (without a race cockpit) and this car has an "LM" engine (more horse power)

@Ryacuski The F1 is more expensive I think especially this version. You can look it up on classicdriver there are some CLK GTR's for sale there which are around 850.000 pounds. An F1 is more expensive than that.

if you go to the "2008 St. Petersburg festival of speed" pictures.... there was a Pur Sang (real) Veyron, Enzo, CLK-GTR, Mac F1 (and before I got there, Porsche GT1) all lined up! but check out the pics.

no, its not, its a standard mclaren f1 with a LM engine and High Downforce(HDF) Kit (IE to make it look like a GTR) on it.
PS- there were only 5 LMs made but the Sultan of Brunei got 2.

Silly question - is the LM engine not just the same as the original engine, because according to wiki (not the most reliable source, I know, but I don't have time to check elsewhere at the moment) the LM is just an unrestricted version of the GTR engine, which itself is just a restricted version of the original?

Well, its called the LM engine because it is the same engine used in the F1 LM which was a GTR with an interior and street legal (yea, I know some GTRs in england/europe have been made street legal since... but i'm talking about originally)

to me this is still the worlds fastest production car, its so legit. doesnt use any traction control, any of the gadgets we have today. and its NA! and it can hit up to 240mph? and can put up that much of fight against the veyron on a straightaway race without any forced induction and with less power and cylinders? that sounds alot more amazing to me than the veyron already. and im willing to bet that this car would handle a veyron at a circuit track like nothing

top gear did a race against the F1 and the veyron and the F1 had a faster takeoff but after the turbo's spooled up on the veryon it was gone... remember the f1 has a better power to weight ratio
