First time i was playing story mode it took me about 50 tries to beat Shao. Now i have played it for second time and it took me only 3 :) I have killed him almost at first try but i missed the Xray :) You really need to know Shao Kahns moves. Good luck to all.

I thought the production values for this story were great, at times it felt like a movie, but yeah, the story was bad. They should've just given MK a true reboot, instead of telling the MK1-3 events in a different way. How do they deal with all the characters they killed off too?

one of the best ways in beating Khan in this mode is to use Raidens move called (something) sparks the move is X,X,O then you -><- X it should be a 5 hit combo, also figure out his patterns when doing it.

Honestly @Behrudy the ending makes sense, only Cage and Sonya dies in the original storyline and throughout the story Raiden did the opposite future Raiden originally did and it had opposite effects so since Cage and Sonya originally died the opposite is everyone else dying .
