Joshua, that was a very inspiring story. I'm glad that you turned your life around. I live in Brazil, but I'm an American citizen. I'll cast my absentee ballot for the next President Barack Obama. Just a side note, Brazilian follow American politics very much, and I'll tell you that everyone that I've talked to is really pulling for Mr. Obama to become the next president. The feeling here is that he will change America for the better and put it back on the right course.

The young man made the case that the confederate flag "permeates the political climate." I'm not sure if it was a case for removal. He was saying that it is a symbol of political oppression - the state being overwhelmed by the GOP in a visible way. Also, if a form of freedom of speech causes violence that makes the state unsafe, which the flag may very well, I don't know how strong of a case people can make to have it remain nevertheless.
