  • It's Rachmaninovs' Italian polka G Flat Major.. Obviously Horowitz spin on it... Which is pretty decent, Arkadi volodos has a great version of this as well...

  • is this real?

  • I suposse that he use Dim. Chords and Aug Chords, 9th and sus4 or 7th Chords of course disonances.

Much people said: In the paint exist The Abstract Art why not can exist the ABSTRACT MUSIC. This disonances are so beautiful for my ears

  • sorry I can't listen to this it is terrible of sound. I think Horrowitz would agree because he completely knew what was his Steinway sound.

  • simply amazing, so much like the Carmen fantasie it's creepy.. I think ill listen to the other one again =)

  • AMAZING performance by the 23 year old Horowitz!

  • wait...This doesn't sound like Horiwitz!

  • how can the sound be so clear?

  • this is for the cd of Welte-Mignon recordings , is it?

  • zee best

  • Yes, Horowitz is the best!!!!

  • sounds like a bosendorfer...

  • hey you people, don't speak bullshit!

Horowitz is the best of the best

  • Horowitz is having more fun that the people that are criticizing him! Yay Horowitz! We're privileged just to listen to it.

And I have as much fun listening to this true creator create creation which manifestations lead to sensations unseen in our nation(s).

    Thanks for posting!

  • It's a somewhat different arrangement than the 2nd one that was recorded and the third. And I agree from a roll. Piano rolls usually give a jerky irregular tempo and a monotonous quality.

  • this is just a piano roll and doesn't give any real idea of the perfection of horowitz pianism.

  • I dont know why people hate horowitz. He is very good.

  • Is impossible that people hatee horowitz! haha

  • people just love to spite him because they think he is overrated. i disagree with them

  • Very nice piece of music

  • I think this sounds very arbitrary and careless. I don't think he was taking this too seriously except for the check afterwards.

  • I love Horowitz and I feel that Volodos is his successor.

  • Glorious playing! Bravo! TY.

  • Obviously a aural-montage of two juxtaposed recordings. We're hearing four hands here, yo!

  • that's what they said about art tatum. ;)

  • Haha. :)

  • It is actually all him in fact, haha. It's a piano roll he recorded in 1926.

  • It is indeed Horowitz. It is possible to 'overdub' on a piano roll, but I've never heard that Horowitz did this (as Gershwin and others did) Please cite which passages you feel have more than one pianist in control.

  • You have a very good recording of this piece. Must be a nice reproducing piano =)

  • Yeah, I was really happy to hear this too, I'm glad you like it! :)

  • Amazing. This deserves 5 stars!

  • March 1927 (on a player piano)

  • this is just too cool! never knew this recording before

  • I think it's sdomething about the 1930s, because os the structure of the coda, similar to the 1928 one, but significant adding to the 1928 version.

  • The recording was made in 2003 on a welte-mignon piano roll (on a grand piano). As for when it was performed on the roll I will have to look that up but not enough time at the moment, I'll post it when I find out.

  • 1928 I think

  • probably earlier - 1927 or 1926. greg lile (who knows these things) says 1927 above.

  • @boomzxz 1928

  • @boomzxz Do you have the Welte-Mignon recording number?

  • When was this performed?
