Hi Wizkid, did you have any trouble installing the AM3 CPU on the Mobo. IE: Did you need to install new drivers and if so which ones? Hope you still answer to old video's like these.
@BestxNexus Hi, I have not installed new AM3 CPU's on this old board, but I can tell you that you would need a BIOS update for sure! And since they stopped making BIOS updates after a while its not guaranteed it will support the latest ones.
? can you plug a 20pin 350W PSU into a 24pin mother-board to check to see if everything works on the new mother-board ? cause I won't be getting my new 650W PSU until mid july. I will just be running the onboard video and 1 hard-drive,the cpu and fan, and 1 cd drive.
i love your videos man, i dream of building my own gaming pc from scratch. i used to take my computer apart and swap parts with different pcs when i was a kid. i actually brought out that same pc a year ago to see if i could get the music off it, put it back together and plugged it in, turned it on. blank screen, ok start troubleshooting im checking parts then i smell electronic death.. ripped the chord out of the wall.. no idea wtf is wrong, hd seems to be dead now, *grumble*
I would love to seea video on wiring up a pc properly by hiding them. I do not think all cases are friendly with all power packs when it comes to wire length and such.
Hi MAN , can you plz review Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P AMD 790X (Socket AM3), couse i am thinking of buying it in summer, i have time than to work and spent same time making my new PC, thanks.
If you run only one video card then you plug-in in the Switch card in the other PCIe slot so the board knows to run the first (green) PCIe slot at x16 speed instead of x8. Thats it.
Looks like a pretty good board to me.. I have an MSI K9A2 Platinum. My Board also has a molex 4 pin power on it. I had no idea what it was for either. I still plugged it in though. If you have any additional information on that connector, It would be beneficial. I hear it's not needed, unless you are running crossfire, But i have also heard otherwise.
First of all: This isn'yt an Am3 board. It's a normal AM2, and it supports AM3 cpu's. Many of them do.
Second: Coudn't you ov it more? It's almost equal to a non-oc, 100Mhz isn't exactly impressing:-)
For the prize it looks rly good. Like the capaxitors and the cooling of the power components on it. They tend to get rly warm, so it's a great idea:-)
Actually I have the system running at over 3Ghz already, but for the motherboard review I didnt show it. My next video on the Phenom II X4 will show details on the OC. Stay tuned
So this board should be able to support a AM2 cpu? I've got a spare 6000+ AM2, 4gb DDR2-800 and 8800GT that I would like to use for a secondary system but I need a new mobo.
i have the sapphire 790 gx amr2 and it's looks exactly like this with blue color ,but it dosn't come with the e-sata port ?!!

@2point6x4 , yes you can plugin a t20pin connector, but you also need a 8pin motherboard power connector .

My MSI 790gx G65 AM3 MB only has a 4pin connector for the cpu, is this what you mean?
2point6x4 2 years ago
is jetway am3 board as good or better than gigabyte am3 board?
2point6x4 2 years ago
I'd go with the Gigabyte board but this one is a good choice too

"while current AM3 processors have only 938 pins" < right from Wiki.
AM2 processors will not fit into an AM3 only board.

Can i ask, i have a board like this, and i want to do cross-fire, but whats the "switch card" if i use that, then how can i put my other card in?
Thanks,

I explain about the switch card in my video.

Can you explain this to me in words?

please do a review on something from MSI
there products are pretty good and they have released a new mother board with a weird but effective lay out.

supports am2 AND am3? i wonder how they pulled that off... well i know what motherboard im getting when i upgrade!
StevenBergstrom 3 years ago
Simple rule of thumb: If it supports AM2+, It probably can support an AM3 (probably with a BIOS upgrade)
If it's an AM3 board, then it can't have an AM2, AM2+ due to less pins on AM3 processor sockets

i want to ask which is the best pc?intel pc or amd
gck86 3 years ago
for gaming AMD but regular use INTEL
gtr3cords 3 years ago
well it also depends on what you have to spend

Whatever you decide, but Intel is dominating currently. I will never give up on AMD, though.

Molex on a MoBo is such a pain, my P35 board has one so i had to add another 18" molex cable to my modular psu
chevlyatmac 3 years ago
Its optional, for additional power, for example if you had crossfire and the PCI slots all used up.

thank you so much. now my cable management looks good

Looks like a nice budget board :)
You can easily get above 2.7GHz on the 810, you should be able to get 3.4GHz at least ;)
Another great review, thanks for the AMD coverage - the others are ignoring Phenom II and its really freakin' annoying :P
