@Blackcat333ful - I know what you're saying but I think the fact that he mixes in his own unique twists is what makes a live performance so great. If it sounded exactly like the CD it wouldn't be as inspiring. Not to mention, he's playing a flippin banjo, kick drum and singing at the same time! Not many could do the same!

I know im gonna get thumbs down for this but, everytime I watch them sing this song live, Scott can never sing it the way he does on the cd....and I know its live and its not gonna sound like the cd that much, but damn! Im startin to think he just cant sing live at concerts.
@TheEricaLeshea it's funny you say that. I had seen this song live so many times before I and Love and You came out, that I never got into the album version. In fact, I skip it when I listen, though I love it live. I'm curious, did you hear the song for the first time on the album or live? But, to each their own, right? :)
@TheEricaLeshea the live version is how the song was conceived. When they went into the studio they said it was too difficult to recreate so the decided to record it with a different approach. ALSO important to note that they were both very sick here. I happen to love both versions, but live Laundry Room is my favorite every time!! (Check out the tiny desk version)
@TheEricaLeshea - the problem is, he gives everything he has all the time, I don't think he knows how to hold back vocally. His voice is often shot by the latter parts of shows. Check out the tiny desk concert from NPR on youtube if you want to hear a great version of this song.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post more from this show! It was only open to UNC students, so many awesome fans didn't get to see it. I was lucky enough to be a student and a fan though :-)
The Avett Brothers - SO glad you've posted this for long-time fans, -those of us who have never seen their live show, - and for those who may be seeing them for the first time.
Cirque Productions does such a stellar job! Thanks for including a split screen in part of this. -Very much the way I like to look at a live show, turning my head back and forth, not wanting to miss anything. -Going to check for more of your videos now.
holy shit!

Scott's voice is so gone in this concert, a sign of a hard day's work!

hokiehi11 2 years ago 2
I've heard he broken as many as 15 banjo strings in one show.
spatchjr 2 years ago
@spatchjr when i talked to them in 2007 they said they both broke 16 strings each in the same show. pretty nuts
dandaman19620 2 years ago
@spatchjr in an interview video with scott he said he broke 32
