  • Hopefully we'll someday see devoted fans who are willing to give the game a visual makeover. The towns really are an awkward disproportionate mess. But hey, at least they exist, unlike in Heroes VI

  • I think the main problems that HoMM IV suffered were artistic. The towns, especially Death, many creatures and some of the landscape turned out quite ugly. Also the game balance was off, and without the expansions, there were far too few maps and no multiplayer. However, the gameplay is superb, full of incredible ideas that really should have pushed HoMM forward. Same goes for the music and the campaigns. Sublime music and beautiful writing (except in the expansions).

  • This game is the best homm sadly they will never do an other like that...

What I miss from this one is the fog of war, level up, battle system, Sometime a range units could hit like 1/8 if you were really far and protect by trees...

Why did this one had to die...

  • HOMM IV was one of the first video games I ever played on the PC back when I was about 7.The experience of moving a horse which represented an army meant nothing to me,and the difficulties set by gates were horrible, but the memories of playing the game and immersing myself through the use of this majestic music and beautfiul creatures, landscapes and scenarios fascinated me.Listening to these masterpieces still bring me to those beautiful memories...

  • This music sounds so good that i almost cry...

  • 我来自中国大陆,回味着小时候最珍贵的游戏音乐,是多么的幸运。

  • man i wish i could find the sheet music for this and play this in my school's orchestra

  • Why is this track also present in Zanzarah: The Hidden Portal 's OST?

Is this some popular folk melody?

Btw, its AMAZING! Long live the old game music. Paul Romero is just a genius :)

  • @IstrebitelQzar2 rly ? I never heard this song in Zanzarah but there were two others that are the same in both games O.o that just can't be a coincidence O.o It really intrigued me since I found it out a few years ago but now I'm set to find out why that is so when the composers of the soundtracks are different, so if u have any clue send me a message xDD

  • @CrimsonWolfie333 Well i have no clue except it being some popular folk tune but noone who i asked recognised it. And, from what i know, the music for those games was composed by different people so it couldnt be a simple re-use of material for similar settings (i mean, both games are about fantasy...)

  • 2:22 best part

  • O don`t realy know why so many people dislike HOMM IV. For my it`s the best parth.

  • @Mac15001900 same here everyone dislikes it but it is awesome I still play it today

  • @Mac15001900 Music is nice. The game itsef - it was just not what people expected.

People played HOMM and liked it.

When they got HOMM II, it was an upgrade and expansion of HOMM's ideas and mechanics. People liked it even more.

When they got HOMM III it was an even better upgrade and expansion of HOMM II's ideas and mechanics. People loved it!

When they got HOMM IV, they felt like they were cheated. A lot was changed, a lot was removed. This was another, different game...

  • @Mac15001900 (continuing first reply)

Even the setting, the universe completely changed. It wasnt Enroth anymore.

And game changes were huge. Hexes - gone. Heroes undying and staying out of combat - gone. Heroes leading armies - gone. Number of towns - reduced. Number of creatures per town - reduced. Creature growth once a week - gone. It was just too much to stil call it a HOMM game.

It may have been a good stand-alone game, but it failed to hold up to the expectations of "FOUR"

  • @IstrebitelQzar2 I grew up with HOMM II and III, and I think HOMM IV was a natural step forward from the stale formula of the previous 3. The story was MUCH more mature, the campaigns were amazing and were up there among the best pieces of narrative I've ever seen in a videogame.

The new combat system was fresh, the civilizations were MUCH different from each other, and overall it retained much of the fun of its predecessors. Not the *same* kind of fun, but just as much, albeit with other ways.

  • @IstrebitelQzar2 But most of those changes were nothing compared to the parody that is HoMM 6.. And although initially, I hated them myself after the EPIC HoMM III.. It did add a good amount of pacing to the gameplay. Daily creature growth meant more of a threat if ur town got snatched, less predictability to when it was best to capture a town. Faster 2ndary hero deployment. And I loved having the hero in battle. Personal opinions tho may I add :).

  • Good Lord 240 p FTW ! (also This is AWESOME)

  • HoMM series > everything

  • 2:17 to 4:16 Beautiful, My favourite part!!!

  • @Hyalyago yeah, i played in homm4 only to listen this melody

  • Now you mention it, I used to get into a boat and sail (or just remain still) just to hear the Water Theme.

  • Solmyr & Emilia's campaign was the best of them all. Great story. Never before had I enjoyed playing HoMM campaign that much. You just have to feel that someone thought really hard to make such a story. Absolutely magnificent :)

H4 has best campaign and music

  • I LOVE THIS SONG. sometimes i wouldn't take my turn, I'd just stand there in the grass just to listen to this song. XD

  • @ffvivivp TOTALLY This is the one of the most memorable songs ever. Heroes IV music was best of the series. Ah...

  • Ok, I'd like to say something. I love music, especially irish. I discovered that soundtrack from Heroes IV is mostly just a compilation of irish motives (that's why they sometimes appear in other games and movies). What I want to know is what these motives are called, 'cause there must be other versions (and want to know where to look). So if anyone can help me, please respond. Thanks in advance.

  • @rufus1530 This.

  • you know there is a free download program that allows you to download youtube movies or download the soundtrack to mp3 in a folder of your choise

  • When I started to play this game, I never read all the little texts you face during your explorations, but then i took a closer look, and was fascinated, how great they tell the story (every single artifact you find has its own story) and combined with the music, it made a wonderful and atmospheric game, although i didn´t like some of the fraction designs.

  • i LOVE the part from 5:00 to the end....it's great,epic,awesome...when i hear that part i imagine something like a transilvanian party, where vampires dance with virgines in the hall of the mirrors [ imagine the scene from van helsing where dracula is dancing with kate beckinsale with this song ]

  • part from 2:24- love it!!!, it sound so Irish :-)

  • @zaxas78 ye that part is my fav

  • @zaxas78 yeeaa is very nice ^_^

  • Wow, beautiful

  • beautifull , autor must be skillfull , I am enjoying it

  • I really enjoy this song(s), far better than any of those great named musicians from the past. Who made this is really a great musician, wish he could work in some other games. My playlist have all the HMMIV songs, less the combat songs, which the 3rd had it better.

  • 6:21 - the cabin looks like the Rampart homestead from Heroes3 :)

  • from 2:20 is awesome

  • homm4 has amazing music, i prefer to listen to it than all this "popular" crap on mtv

  • Yea, you are right. Me too. I like to listen to various sountracks from movies, games, etc, because when I listen I kind of use my imagination and I don't only hear the music, but see beautiful pictures, that's why I like them.

  • @y0gus

You are so damn right man.

  • @y0gus Amen!

  • @y0gus Indeed.

  • Awesome song, I was going to upload it myself, but now I see there is no need, damn ;P

  • "I've been the loyal squire of Lord Lysander for more than twelve years. My name is not important because history takes no notice of people like me. Lysander, however, is different. I have known since I first set eyes on him that he would change the world."

Epic music, epic story of Lysander, epic old days..

  • @coldblood26 "I know you will not understand this now, Waerjack, but, someday, you will. Yes, we're barbarians. Yes, we're born warriors. But a warrior is not only a murderer; he's a protector. You'll have to understand life and your strength to take it. Else, you'll only be a criminal."

  • @coldblood26 U get a cookie:)

  • @coldblood26 OMG brings back memories. That was one of my favourite campaigne.I just can't see why this part of the serie is not as beloved as the others.

  • does anyone have guitar chords for this?
