My gentoo boots in 20 seconds to desktop on quadcore x4 630 + ddr3-1600 anyway with all daemons up etc, not like archlinux. Bottleneck being solely Sata HDDs, oh well, I can take it :) No, not going to put any winblows crap on this hardware haha. Never!
@autonomous2010 Yes I suspect its unefficient sysinit. I could surely use something that runs several daemons in parallel, preloads most static things, but Im not in optimizing it. Its just what I got after stage3 and ~ baselayout2.
mute that shit,

@lin545 My gentoo PC boots in roughly 26 seconds but its an old piece of crap PC.

Heh. SHOW HOW MAKE TAHAT WITHOUT VM. :)
michajloh 4 years ago
He can't.
The reason it's so fast is that the virtual machine links the OS right into the already booted OS, so many of the things do not have to be done.
Like I boot up XP in about 20 seconds in Linux, but without running in VM it's about a minute more.
Plush Knoppix is very light and fast, and above all, a linux. so it boots fast any way.
