  • The other big issue affected by population growth is WATER. No matter how clever we are, there is only ever going to be a finite amount of water available. Throw in another drought, and we're potentially in serious trouble next time. Farmers didn't have enough water in the last 11 year drought to maintain food production - they were getting 10% of their government granted water entitlements.

  • During a speech to the Texas Academy of Science in March 2006, biologist Dr. Eric R. Pianka advocated the need to exterminate 90% of the world’s population through the airborne ebola virus. The reaction from scores of top scientists and professors in attendance was not one of shock or revulsion – they stood and applauded Pianka’s call for mass genocide.

  • @esther19741974 wow! i would want to get the opinion of several epidemiologists on that persepective.

  • Other countries are already working on their future food shortage problem, it's been in the news of late about overseas intrests buying up tracts of land and water rights here in Australia with barely any regulation from the current Government.

  • Dick Smith is fantastic, it's great to have people like this who can get the attention to make this discussion public. He is echoing what Australians have been saying for ages.

The pro-immigration mass media would never allow this issue to be published and politicians are to scared to discuss it in fear of losing the immigrant voters and the big business bribes/donations.

Dick Smith for Prime Minister!!! Woooohooooo!!

  • face book group for this search The Population Is Growing "The Dick smith Wilberforce Political Party" thank you for video

  • Our GDP per capita is well behind the USA's actually.

  • Famine has been a part of human existence for thousands of years. Why wouldn't it happen again?

  • 1:46 "we've been able to use fossil fuels [...] to make fertilizer."

Fertilizer was first made with hydro-electricity, not fossil fuels. It is still made today with hydro-electricity.

For the next 32.4 billion years (at the current world power-consumption rate of 16 terawatts), it could be made with nuclear power.

  • Good speech Dick, but not having a view on over population until four months ago proves the prominent Australians and politians must live in a castle behind a big wall removed from the real world. At least now the debate is rolling

  • @lagosultans "Good speech Dick"

Did it include any sustainable points?
