  • omg taek kwon do rocks! I am a black tag and loveeeee it.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong somewhere, but Gen. Choi was the Master of Oh Do Kwan before he unified all the Kwans under a single martial art - Taekwon-do. KTA was formed in the process, and ITF was only formed much later to promote the art worldwide. Changes were made to hyungs through time, including the addition of sine waves. Thus Oh Do Kwan forms are seen as traditional.

  • Teul or Tul and Hyeong or Hyung both actually translate to mean form or pattern. IF you are official ITF you will do the list of forms for the ITF syllabus (chon-gi, dan-gun, do-san, etc) Where the mix comes in is some ITF school (that I have seen) their masters will adopt optional forms that the ITF have not included (i believe there are 3 or so) Some people that do not affiliate will take ideas from WTF and ITF and make their own brand of TKD... Like my mother and brother are member of ATA

  • I just wanna say. These vidoes on ITF forms are better than most ones on here but at the same time yalls forms looks like just movements put together. This is not TRADITIONAL TKD because traditional TKD still do the Okinawan forms, which some are 400yrs old. ITF's are only 50yrs old.

  • @Kinghercules you have to understand that okinawa and korea are two different countries and so the meaning, style and form is all a different martial art entirely okinawan branched almost entirely off of karate, however korea's taekwondo was the combonation of kyong nae the art of foot fighting with karate, thus the traditional set forth by general choi hong hi is in fact traditional Taekwon-do to his country.

  • Superb, thank you! Really wanted to see you kick the chritmas tree though ;)

  • This will be the next hyung I will learn as a Black Stripe. (9 months away from my Black Belt)

  • Wherever it started I think that sine wave looks ridiculous. The forms are much better without it.

  • Thank you for posting all of these fine videos i suppose you are in Korea and that you do the traditional hyung form. I am also a traditional practitioner and I am glad to see someone else that sticks to the real roots of TKD. All to many people have defected to the ITF, ITA, and ATA you guys are great martial artist and even though some of your chambers are slightly more exagerated than I do them you still stick to the true traditional TKD. Thank you sirs I will have videos of my forms up soon.

  • @escaflowne1169 ITF is the original and traditional Taekwon-Do.

  • @randomnator Yes ITF generally uses the original forms although when these patterns were first made they were made without sine wave movements, then it was changed to include sine wave, and then it was changed back... I have seen ITF schools not use sine wave and i have seen some that do... although from my experience some of the ITF schools include forms that are not included in the original list of hyung forms... Some of the ITF school that I have seen dont do hyungs at all they do Tuls...

  • @escaflowne1169 So Sinewave wasn't there from the start, but something that was added to the art?

  • @randomnator Correct sir... sine wave was not added until later in general choi's lifetime... it has some positive things that it give to the practitioner... it give them a sense of timing as well as balance and stability... to "stick" the motions if you will... Read up on it on wikipedia it actually has some pretty interesting things on there about TKD it explain originations as well as pattern variation (I.E hyungs, tuls, etc) it will give you an idea of why all the bickering on here lol...

  • @escaflowne1169 Very interesting, i also never knew that there were such things as "Hyungs". My Master only teaches us Tuls even though he was one of GM Choi's students in Malaysia. Why the change from Hyungs to Tuls and whats the difference if you don't mind me asking?

  • @randomnator They do not do traditional patterns their patterns vary though they are a very very tough style... When you test for your 9th degree you are required to perform a 99 move form... and if you do not pass your belt test you are demoted to your former rank... there is a whole lot out there read up and see what you can learn...

  • I'm an ITF stylist like TKDdisciple and have been trained to use the sine wave method. Whilst I prefer the ITF method, I recognise that TKD was not originally performed in this way. I actually think this is one of the better non sine wave patterns on YouTube

  • ^^ So, what is your Taekwon-Do???

  • ITF. To me this is rubbish, mainly because the majority of moves aren't correctly finished before going onto the next move, the side peircing kicks aren't correctly performed as there is no chamber, then there is no retract in chamber, most importantly, there is no sine wave, but i'm assuming it is because your style doesn't enforce it the same as ours does. Ki-happing at the knee strike and at the end? There should be a quick ki-hap at every move to emphasise the strength, tighten the body ...

  • The ITF did not originate with the Sine Wave. It was added in a later revision of General Choi's teachings... if you read the Encyclopedia or Condensed Encyclopedia, you will see differences at each revision as those around him and those in control of the ITF changed the original moves. So, in effect, what you are saying is that you do [more] current ITF style while this performance is technically, whether you like it or not, traditional.

  • This is the traditional TKD this is the style that i do and perhaps this guy doesnt chamber and all that crap but no traditional TKD doesnt do sine wave as we find it useless but each disipline has different views and we dont yell on each move because we dont find it necessary most of us issue a sharp breath outward upon execution of any moves... if you wanna crack on a certain disipline of TKD crack on ITA i was in ITA and the forms are a joke

  • ... and to make it look and sound more graceful. Fair enough, i was quite drunk when posting that last comment and was quite harsh with the words so i take it back, but at the time, and watching what was on show, i personally thought it wasn't very good. I will try and upload a video of myself performing this pattern and then compare. My apologies for being so harsh, just spur of the moment

  • Then, show me your pattern.

  • TKDdisciple, you dont have to say this. Woth your coments i can say that KoreaTKD do a better Taekwondo that you. All of us need to improve but if you dont respect Takwondo jungshin, you are over.

  • Whatever

  • Nice!

  • Well done!

  • Nicely Old School preformed TKD Hyung
