They need to develop a street bike that is cheaper. Most people who want a mountain bike want the exercise, whereas commuters might like the afforded power of e-bikes--less sweat commuting to work.

The french Matra MS1 is awesome looking, and the German Mosquito is cool, but no pedals. Both have range between 50 and 60 miles and travel 30 mph, and would appear to be half the cost of an Optibike
