I'm not a dancer of any kind. But I love watching ballet dancers prep before dancing. The shoe thing (stretching them, banging against floor), tape around toes, stretching. It really shows how much works is put into this. I probably sound dumb saying all this but whatever.

@crystaliclake I agree with angelpink .Would you perform on stage with your mini pad showing for all the world too see? At this level I would think class would be taken more seriously

I dance too but can someone please explain to me the women's trend for wearing see-through tights OVER the bodysuit, especially tights with a gusset (that patch on the crotch)some even wear the tights inside out which makes the gusset even more obvious than it already is?

@crystaliclake I dance as well and I think its tacky and nasty. I think someone was rushing one day and put it on and other people saw it and thought it was cool and there you go another lame trend lol

@angelicpink- LMAO, no you don't....or you would understand the point of this so called "trend". We ( prof. dancers) don't CARE how it looks, that is not why we do it or have been doing it for over 20 years now. It just simply allows for more complete movement w/o the dancewear slipping or being pulled into uncomfortable positions( as will happen every few min. with tights under a leo while partnering, esp. during lifts) We don't give a hoot if it looks funny. We are too busy for that crap.

@crystaliclake- not a trend, lol, many adv. and prof. dancers have been doing this since the mid 1980's during class and rehersal b/c it keeps the leo from moving into some rather uncomfortable places if you get my drift ;-) Not having to tug the leotard back into place all day long is a big bonus ( we don't much care nor have time to worry about fashion while working in studio) as it allows us to focus on actually dancing and not our gear.

Woooooow!!! Is it just me, or is it that almost ALL of the videos of professionals in class happen to show them (the ladies) wearing their tights outside their leotards (or whatever they happened to have worn)? Whatever happened to good old UNDERgarments? :|

@natashawashy The reason you see this in most all prof. ballet company video clips of this type is b/c "undergarments" are not practical at this elite level. We need complete freedom of movement. We care only about dancing well & not interested in making a fashion statement. While in studio, it is rare to be seen by anyone who isn't either a real dancer or very familar with our art form. So quite frankly we could care less if our tights look weird to non dancers. Stage is a differnt story ;-)

This is one "inspired" video. Beautiful work. A collage of creativity and power. I will always be in awe of the raw "black and white" quality of the studio. The intimacy is there. The feeling that you can almost reach out and "touch" dance . I feel that choreography that brings you in to a sense of the studio is ultimately the most powerful.... kind of like the old jazz venues of the 50's and 60's......
