In our 224 apartment complex in Sydney we installed solar pool heating as an energy saving measure. Our payback time is under 2 years with a solar gas combination giving us 365 days a year pool heating. We roll out a pool cover from 10pm to 6am to keep the heat in at night. Our main problem was the 12 storey rooftop height of the solar arrays which required a 2 stage pump arrangement and getting the temperature settings adjusted so that solar does all the work and gas is only used as backup.
