  • Does this solve the humming issue of passive pickups and treats like an EMG, which is absolutely noiseless when you dont touch the strings?

  • @baranismen I guess. If a guitar is properly grounded, it shouldn't make significant noise, regardless as to whether it's an active or passive circuit. If you're getting significant hum with your hands off the strings, look into re-evaluating your grounds. With the amount of gain I run, no matter what type of pickup, it's going to feedback when you let your hands off the guitar.

  • @Code001 Its not much sound, and its properly grounded i'm pretty sure. What i'm talkin about is not feedback, its the "humming" sound anyway..

  • I am sorry to bother you again, does the pre amp work only one pickup, or multipul. I have hss charvel, there is no single coil blackouts, in that guitar I really want blackouts and my ec-1000 I am going to put john petrucci pickups

  • @crate718 Works on one or two pickup guitars.

  • @crate718 I have a HSS in my Jackson soloist, and I have a bridge Blackout Metal, and I can buy 2 single coils Blackouts for it, but they don't come out in a lot of guitars, and they are not a Metal Blackout. Hopefully they will make Metal Blackout in a single coil version too.

  • I want to swap my emg pick ups for john petrucci pickups and thinking to get the the blackout pre amp but in time can the pre amp turn on and off, that is really imprortant to me???

  • @crate718 A Duncan tech said it was possible with a 4-pole switch, but I've never seen a wiring diagram for it.

  • I just bought these today lol.

  • @MattKiller1197 its basically the circuit board to an active pick up that is hooked up to a tone pot and ran through a 9v battery to get you much more output from the guitar pick ups

  • How would sound in a schecter diamond series with jb/59 nickel humbuckers. The guitar is a schecter c-1 artist..mahogany body.

  • @Havensgate11 Very similar to how this sounded.

  • wow the difference is astonishing.

  • can someone tell me what is that i'm new at these stuff

  • i have a fender telecaster 72 deluxe with those larger pickups, they are very loud (maybe because of the pots) and dont have very high output, would you recommend the blackouts modular preamp?

  • @liveratherthanexist The pickups must be four conductor pickups, and I'm not sure if the ones in your Tele are. If they are, the BMP could add output/saturation, but if you play anything other than metal, I'm not sure if this device will be what you're looking for.

  • hi Code001 i have a MM Jp6 and i love the actual pickups, can the BOPAMP add the extra clear gain that i love in the blackouts??? i really love the three pickups on the musicman but an extra gain to me uff perfect....

  • @jrgarciavarga Ever consider running an overdrive in front of the amp instead (gain low, level high)? That might be the better option. The pickups will definitely get a boost in gain. However, if you already like the tone you currently have, I'd be a bit hesitant on recommending this. It pretty much turns any pickup into like 70% to 80% Blackouts with the final bit being whatever naturally comes from the pickups. Also, the BMP is actually only meant for 2 pickup guitars, not 3 pickup ones.

  • @jrgarciavarga Man I think you need to get the EMG Afterburner... It can add up to 20db of clean transparent boost/gain without altering your tone.

  • so u cant use a singal coil

  • @ROBERT78950 It might be possible, but you'd have to get real creative with the wiring. The preamp is really only meant to support four conductor humbuckers.

  • if i have a crappy stock pickup, would i be better of getting the preamp of replacing the pickup all together?

  • @Toaster121 It really depends. This needs four conductor wiring to work, and most stock pickups are not four conductor. If your stock pickups are four conductor, then this could be a great mod to give that guitar some more output and low end.

  • How 'bout making one WITHOUT a backing track so's we can hear what it sounds like raw? I got me one of them BMPs, but still haven't had my local luthier, Billy Gallant, install it in my Douglas 7 string yet (It's all a matter of money--or lack thereof--my friend!).

  • brutal!!! but you need to make a before and after clip of the pickups with and without the modular.

  • @deathcore1239 I updated the information in the main post to include the before.
