A lot of the 80's videos from the Cars had computer effects like this (or whatever they were LOL). I would guess they were some of the most technologically advanced videos for that time.
This video makes me wonder; who's more obsessed? Is Ric Ocasek obsessed over this girl or is it the other way around? I think the girl is obsessed over him so much that she sees him everywhere.
The 80's! I'm 46 and soooo glad I experienced it. Fun, happy, upbeat, colorful, lots of excess, and the music was so bouncy and happy and just plain fun. Miss it. Wish it would come back. The Cars just released a new album call Move Like This. Great tracks that take you back to their wonderful style!
@sammys70 just use a convertor to change utube vids to mp-3s dude....works real good, plus you get to choose which song version you want instead of just one on other sites...google it.
@redgreenjr Actually I'd assume that quite a bit of the technology that makes this video possible is digital. Still, groundbreaking for sure. Great song, and great video with a nice happy ending and wrap up.
The 80s were a pretty innocent time actually, now that I think back to it. I mean, you maybe saw a boob once a month and it was an event. Now it's as common as checking your email. there's no innocence anymore.
This must be a different version, or it didnt play all the way through, because it didnt show the scene where Ocasek seems to take his face off and a mini flood pours out.
geez, i used to love this video. still do. it's a shame that the theatrical talent isn't put in today's videos, with a few small exceptions. ric is great, always will be. what fun. and i love the comment below me and totally agree! :-)
its weird if this is the first cars video you watch and you think that he never takes off those sunglasses but you see a video why cant i have you and ur confused because you only see those two videos.
I am going to see outragous Cars tribute band, Talk Of The Town on Fri Dec 5. They are playing at Sundance in Rocky Point, Long island, Ny. Thats 60 mile drive from Manhattan (90 mins). The Police tribute band Invisible Sun is also on the bill.
hey there are still some out there.. you just gotta look :] then again I live in Cali so it's not hard for me, I just don't have my license yet. booo. -__- but yes I hate the music and dancing in today's clubs.
I love 80s music and i was born in 1984. I think things were much easier and more simple and fun back then. I am too shy to dance to music now days but when i hear 80s music i feel free and myself. They were classics back then unlike the repetitive garbage mostly out nowdays.
I think today's type of dancing is just plain gross.. these people have no shame! I get made fun of not dancing like that. hell, in my prom which was just a few months ago, I was showing off my dancing skillz. haha I did the Robot, the Sprinkler, the Lawnmower.. omg so many of them :] I just love these dances!!
Those were the best times for me at least. I'm so glad i got to enjoy the 80's and the clothing styles were fun. I know waht ever happenned to the good music. The 80s were the best!
@panamaerin I was in high school in the 80's and even though High school itself was an unpleasant experience (I would rather have my eyelids sewn shut for a year than go through it again) but the tv shows and the movies reflect what a fun era it was. I also think people were more creative back then.
@ElectricIceCream Yep. Things weren't perfect back then but you had quality entertainment to take your mind from the bad stuff. That is the difference between those days and now. There is harldy anything to take your mind from your troubles.
I was a kid in the 80s and I think things were simpler back then! And great fun music like this was around. Everything is too much focussed towards celebrity now rather than just good music.
Yeah, the 80's were the best! You had to be born in the 70's or before to have truly expereinced the best of the 80's. At lest you can see all the videos here. Back in the 80's was when MTV was the best!!! now I don't even watch it.
You are so right about the tasteless part. I'm not one to go clubbing but an 80's club sounds like fun. I never got into clubbing 'cause I was too shy to dance (sad) i only got the courage once during a homecoming dance to slow dance and they only played one slow song that night. ha, ha, ha.
