Its sad, don't you think???........that love just happens.....it cares very less with whom it does?!?!.....I guess in "love" there is no lust no sin no taboo....it is unpredictable and causes so much pain because of the pain it bears along with its growth. The more harder we try to move away and forget.....the more it torture!Sad but true!:(
@ETKSyiemiong What you say is so true! In personal life, I too have experienced a situation something similar, which is why, this poem is close to my heart. Thanks for appreciating.
The recitation was effected via "speech synthesis" using AT&T Speech Lab's demo software, Unfortunately, their system lacks "emphasis control" which is why I couldn't create the feeling of passion!
Men like Tagore are so spiritual that they do not LUST in the way most people understand in today's world. Tagore had no lust, only a sensual love, he could only love...
Wonderful effort & thnx for sharing such a beautiful poem !!
The greatest characters of Indian History-Rabindra Nath Tagore, the brilliant poet tracing his youth and his mercurial rise to the epitome of his poetry and the women in his life who made it possible - kadambari Devi.
It said that- Kadanbari was so upset when she found a note -written by Rabindra nath just after his marriage -"Aaj puraton re chariya ,notun re boron korilam " .
Yes indeed, Tagore had agreed to getting married just to liberate his mind off Kadambari, but couldn't! Even after her demise he remained chained to her intellect and her momories. Alas his poor wife became just a receptacle of his lust and the bearer of his children.
Narration is by synthesized voices from ATT Speech Labs. I altered the delivery speed after composing and then mixed background music (raga "Shivaranjani") to give an ambiance of sorrow....etc etc.
I am glad you have enjoyed my presentation. For some inexplicable reason I had a haunting compulsion to research the tryst and this poem, the moment I saw the photo of Kadambari Devi for the first time!
man, somebody should have told me stephen hawking recited this...damn...

A lot have been published in English on Tagore's biography. IMHO, "A Tagore Reader" by Amiya Chakraborty is the best.
