  • Srew this clip , wat if all the cable installers dont show up to work just for a day satellite installers included ,we have time frames like 7:30-8:00am all the way to 4-6 pm in my area i look forward to the weekends 7:30am on a saturday i get there at around 7:45 am sub still sleeping . They open the door hair everywhere should be on funny video !that just cracks me up ! But yeah screw this video whoever they maybe .

  • I'm an installer too and this is crap. I get stuck on jobs trying to fix the junk ass cable that people already have and running my own lines that it can't be helped. My jobs are automatically dispatched to me so I have no idea what's next and sometimes it's a job from a time slot that's already passed so the customer automatically thinks it's my fault and I'm late. I bust my ass on every job and I do my best to make sure the customer is happy when I leave....even if the job was given to me late

  • @myjobsucksass i am a customer account executive in a call center, and youre right, customers they all think we are all just scratching nuts all the time, and they think because the appt was rescheduled or missed is because techs on field are not doing their job when most of the times they are, i dont like the way they made this video is kind of offensive for the people who do their work correctly. Big dislike for the youtuber who made and uploaded this video

  • @br3edage You're right. It's the cheaply made, mass-produced equipment used by the service provider. If we received quality equipment, there would be far less service calls. Couple that with deplorable customer service - due to outsourcing, lack of proper communications and the hiring of absolute retards - the technician should consider it a blessing he or she even finds the customers house.

    Mos of these guys are very good at their job, but they have so much other shit working against them.

  • yeah customers are dicks, most people are assholes, u only get those 2 or 3 maybe cool customers out of 10 a day, depending on what area ur working in, i work out of sf california and i just got transfered here , so its now about 50% of the customers are cool, and dont mind burnin a blunt or 2 after i finish the installations, so yea we have to put up with a lot of bulls****

  • I used to install satellites and it's the same bullshit. Most of the time it's some dumb fuck that couldn't understand the timeframe.

    If you scheduled an AM job you were called the day before that we would be there between 8 and 12. I would get there and assholes would be asleep or bitching that I was not there AT 8.

    If my ETA is between 8 and 12 it doesn't mean I'll show up at 8 and be done at or before 12. Plan too take the day off. Check in with the guy and make sure he does good work

  • I love it when the cust serv rep that custs book the appt with, book the call for 25min when it will obviously take about a hour, but then you get some BS to deal with "oh while you're here" so it takes an additional 30min. If you don't deal with their other problem while you're there, they bitch at you for not taking care of it "because the girl on the phone said you'd fix that too" I've worked from 8am-1130pm before, w/ only a 15min break to eat some fast food & some custs show no gratitude.

Also, at least where I work the techs don't know what job they are going to next so they are set up for failure because dispatch doesn't give courtesy calls. I had a lady scream at me once for being early. I would have waited had she not been home but she freaked. Best part was telling her she had her TV on the wrong channel lol.

  • Sometimes, people run late. Nice thing is, many cable companies provide a courtesy credit for being late. Now if that happened to me, I'd be on the phone with the police, and of course there'd be other issues. And I absolutely hate when people schedule appointments with other plans.

  • In this day of instant modern communications, you pissed off installers and your dispatchers need to learn how to use a phone and notify customers if you will be delayed. You have absolutely no excuse for doing anything else.

    Most customers would understand and be pleased to have this simple courtesy extended to them.

    If you are going to be late and don't call, you deserve to be treated with the same consideration you show your customer.

    First thing first, Customers WILL ALWAYS LIE! They will steal, cheat, and ease their way in to get what ever it is they want. When your in a competitive market, there are absolutely no room for errors or its your ass.

    When you pull up to an easy job, and you think it will be an easy 1,2,3 adios. WRONG.. The house is wired with cable Jesus used, so there is missed time frames used to fix this house.

I made CATV as my profession 5 years ago, and haven't done anything besides succeed and rise higher in the company. I am now a BCT 5 or what most know as plant maintenance technician

  • very true, i have been a tech for over 5 years now and even seasoned techs such as me get held up, as a matter of proof i had a 9 outlet install with 12 phone jacks today. took me 4hours and that was also running the drop. this was supposed to be a reconnect non the less. i still had 2 more jobs left and i called my customers and let them know. not hard and is common courtesy. most decent techs will do that.worst part is i am not a contractor, i get paid by the hour not the outlet!!!!

But you are right with the whole calling the customer bit, according to customers I either show up early or late, they are like oh, I wasn't expecting you this early hang on for a minute,(while they put some clothes on) or wow I thought you'd be here an hour ago!! it's whenever our dispatchers tells em.

  • for all the cable-related people complaining about this commercial, it's not a knock on you guys. i, for one, have had very good experiences with many cable employees. but this commercial is a knock on the unfortunate majority of cable (and other utility) services that show up late and sometimes not at all. i've also had many experiences like this, more often than not. it's just a comedy piece guys

  • I work for the cable company and I had a customer move my ladder once. All I did was called my supervisor and call 911 and the guy did 3 months in jail for endangering the life of a utility worker while on the job thats a big fine. But only a dumb ass would do a thing like what these guys did on this video. That's why we credit your account when where late to your appoinment!

  • In your world they are not right. But we all know that a customer is a PAYING customer which pays for your car note. If customers stop subscribing to that particular company what happens ? that company goes under and you lose your job..I agree some customers can be over zealous which does not make it right but it is what it is.

  • if i will be late to an appointment i do call. 99% of the time i get " wow your early" but either way if we are late for any reason customers do not care and will always try to get something free. some expect you to do something and not charge them my answer to that is "do you do your job for free? "NO" then why do you expect me to do mine for free. we do not get paid by the hour. its itemized billing, we get paid for what we do.if we do something free its money out of our pocket not yours

  • also it takes time to wire a 100 yr old home, when it has no cable installed. some jobs can take 20 min some can take 5-6 hours. and we usually have 2 to three jobs in a time frame. time frames here are 3 hours, like 11-2 or 2-5. so if you have three jobs that have to be completly rewired it takes a little time. but those favors are great.. i know here if a customer pulls this stuff, its a life time ban from cable though there SS number.

  • As an installer myself this commercial upsets me. When I am on a job say at your home I am not going to leave until I am done. This may make me late for your job. I take pride in what I do and I would rather be late for one job than do your job bad or half assed just to be ontime for a timeslot. It's rare that I personally don't make a timeslot but things happen. I have also NEVER not gone to an assigned job. When my sister passed I did call my super about my jobs. She took priority.

  • First things first he would not need to leave the ladder for the reconnect. Even if that was true I would walk across kick in that window to the right and run down and lock them out or I would wait til they left and steal the breaker panel. Calling corporate on the tech would be better than stranding him on the roof. I know of guys that have made customers life a nightmare for doing stupid things to them. Of course I would never be as unprofessional as him. However the job does wear you down.
