  • najo nie mehr schuften bin so reich

  • you're in for a treat over a decade late it still is one of the best franchise storyies as well as gameplay around

  • i'll finally be able to experience panzer dragoon zwei when it arrives in a day or two. been wanting to play this game ever since i was a kid.

  • the memory card for my sega saturn unfortunately didn't work, i never got to this point in the game (only to the end of vid 1) as i would keep dying, though i was very young at the time and not very good at games so it is understandable, but i enjoyed this game so much :c

  • This game is awesome. I played it from beginning to end. This is one of the greatest underrated games of all time.

  • I was playing it these days but hated it!! Too hard, I threw the joystick away :( And played another game. And I thought Panzer Dragoon was a good game :( Oh well, moving on...

  • @shairaptor

You found it too hard? I personally found Zwei a little too easy. Having played it for the first time in five years I still didn't have much trouble beating it, and even got the dragon's final transformation.

Now the original Panzer Dragoon, on the other hand, is a right bugger to get through.

  • @LordZast oh well. the first time i played at a friends (some days ago! the first time! in 2011! hehe) i got killed and threw the joypad away. and moved on to another game. I think even as a retro gamer as myself, I skip the dragoon saga alltogether ;P

  • Interesting. When you beat the episode, watch Shelcoof's shadow. It has the shadows of the engines at first, until the dragon flies by the camera and the camera follows it around to then look back at Shelcoof. Then the shadow is only of the main body.

I wonder if that's a simplified shadow model for use at farther distances or whether it was meant to be in place already at the end of the battle.

  • @netlorens Oh, hang on. Those are just shadows for the forward right engines which remain intact. My bad.

Does anyone know if it is always in this shape at the end of the battle cinematic, or whether the remaining engines correspond to what you shot down during the episode?

  • @netlorens The Shelcoof stage has only one fixed path, so you always destroy the "engines" on the same side... things like shadow effects would have to be so 'handmade' in this game anyway, I really don't think it's so complicated. That's a hard-scripted cutscene.

And I guess you've never played Panzer Dragoon Saga either then? *resists spoiler* ^_^

  • @pawnduit =) No, I've had Saga since Christmas 1998.

Games don't always have perfect continuity between entries in the series, but I suppose that I should have known to expect more from PD.

  • @netlorens Ahh, I understand now (maybe). Though "perfect" continuity may still be a stretch - see the difference in the pre-rendered shot for instance - since Zwei and Saga were in development simultaneously it's a very special case for sure. Panzer Dragoon (Eins) is kind of another matter as well... I think it's no accident the events in that game remain the most *mysterious* haha.

  • I was Playing it right now. Still Amazing.

  • Lol I still playin'it, this game is a masterpiece!!

  • i remmber i played 2 players =P like a freind clicking and me just aiming xD ...

  • Boy, this makes me want to break out the saturn again! Love all the panzer games... even the xbox one!

  • Was always a strong favourite of mine this and your right, the music was stunning and unforgettable. It's made me go out and buy them again on import.

  • i got this as a birthday present ( a bit early as it isnt till thursday but who am i to complain ;)) and this was the first game i ordered. the music is awesome, it looks great, and the game-play is solid.

  • la musique !!!!!!!

    magnifique, féerique.(sea of ice)

  • If you want my opinion the last level theme is the best boss theme to ever grace a video game.

  • Wow, the music in this game was pretty good!!

  • I love the story, I love the gameplay, I love the dragoons, I loooooooove the music so mush, I love PD's world, I love Berserk, I love the intro and ending movies, I love everything about this game! So epic ;)

  • Oh man I played the hell out of this game. The good old days.

  • Man! the gaurdian dragon is very versitile. it goes from a huge lumbering tank with lazers to a fast agile dragon which flies with blistering intensity. the music was equaly epic.

    Thank you Team Andromeda

  • What's even more awesome is the design of the "dragon." It looks absolutely nothing like a dragon, yet that makes it even cooler. Personally, I like the second form.

  • hey did any one ever get the final form of Lagi? I remember seeing CG picture of Lagi with a horn and walking on all four legs including having the wings, and it also had like this "tarp" covering its face. Has anyone ever reached that form?

  • this game was totally aweome! Episode 5's music was ownage, so was episode 6's.

  • BGM最高!

  • I loved this stage. The music fits the atmosphere perfectly.

  • Loved the original blue dragon transformation. It's berserk is insane.

  • Odd enough this song always come to my mind when im walking down the winter snowy streets... i played this back in '96... but those bells just keep coming =)

  • the zweï and RPG azel are for me the best opus of the fourth Panzer Dragoon, the universe is awesome and immersive and the music is unbelievable, and like the LOTR this universe have is own languages, i heard that the character desgin of panzer dragoon Manabu Kusunoki works with the father of Final Fantasy for made a game. I can wait to see and play the result, but Saori Kobayashi and Mariko Nanba are better composer than Nobuo Uematsu to made in relief the design of Kusonoki.

  • I guess I never realized it, but the music rocked even more than I remember. The first Panzer was great, but Panzer Zwei blew it out of the water (no pun intended).

  • This is what i played when i was young.

  • I played this game religously as a kid and I still go on it every now and again, its the most epic game I've ever played on my Saturn.

  • honestly i think for my birthday im gonna find a sega saturn on ebay and get this game, i used to own the system and the game as well but i had to give it to my little cousin, years later i find out the stupid little shit fucking broke my saturn and lost my copy of panzer dragoon zwei >:( . i miss this game T_T

  • this game was badass - cant believe its so long ago now... 96-03 epic era of games

  • @lurchipoo why did you have to give it to your cousin, just curious? Did your parents force you to do it?

  • @IcedEarthaholic Well Its because I had just bought the very first XBOX back in 2001. My Sega Saturn was just sitting there, so I just sent my Saturn to him. I was really hoping to reclaim it when I moved to the same city he lived in, but he lost pretty much all the games except Panzer dragoon 2 (thank god) and Astal. You can bet I played those two games day and night at his house!! LOL.....And now i don't know what happened to the system, this was about 5 years ago.

  • @lurchipoo that sucks so much ass, I think he sold your Saturn and that really sucks. I refuse to sell systems I own nowadays unless I get the updated version I sold my Saturn long ago and while I kinda regret it, especially since I missed out on this wonderful gem, at the same time, there was nothing coming out at the time I did. Still, the Saturn was a wonderful system, hopefully you can snag yourself another one on e-Bay and play the crap out of Zwei and Astal sometime.

  • this game is so epic! i remember owning a sega saturn when i was small but i've never heard of this game but NiGHTS how i found this game? YouTube showed me the way lol

  • G-E-N-I-A-L

  • This game blew my mind when I was a kid. None other game since then came even close to beating the experience that i had with this game.

  • man, dude, this game is my fukin child hood!!!!!.... sega saturn was my first console and will always be the best in my eyes... out of PS and 64, saturn kept me entertained the most.... man, i wish i could get my hands on this!!!! =[!

  • 'If only Japan was nice enough to release more of their big hitters into pal territories it would of been very different back then.'

Nah it wouldn't. People were already brainwashed by the inferior PS. They wouldn't have been interested in any decent game coming out of Japan.

The Saturn had it all. I backed the Saturn up from day 1 and always have. Best console ever.

  • This is one of those games that is totally awesome, that I unfortunately missed out on the first time around. Thanks for sharing!

  • the music was terrifieng good in al pd games, part 2 looked amazing i think even best, part 3(rpg) was awesome but ways too short part 3(Rpg) had a great plot really movie alike.

  • When you look at all the talent and creativity that went into this and many other Saturn titles, one has to wonder why the playstation had win the 32 bit war. If only Japan was nice enough to release more of their big hitters into pal territories it would of been very different back then.

  • The Playstation won the 32 bit war (and indeed the 128 bit war) because people in general are idiots who buy whatever the mainstream media tells them to. Games consumers are no different.

  • You can also blame Bernie Stollar for setting up a policy at Sega of America to not allow RPGs and discourage 2D games on the Saturn for the American localization.

  • Discourage 2D games? Wha...? That's a very daft decision by Bernie. The 2D engine was the Saturn's strongest point.

I also blame poor advertising for the Saturn's downfall.

  • This game is like Afterburner and Space Harrier taken to godly new heights.

  • I love this game. I played through it all the time just to get to the final battle music back when I was 6 or 7.

  • ol panzer dragoon 2, it sure was a worthy sequel to the first..

one of the better on-rails 3-d games back then

  • You almost unlocked the dragons final form. This what would help you

First:take the longest path on every level to help your point score.

Second:Practice the last level a few times to improve your score. I think you need atleast 24 or so points to get the final form.

  • I LOOOVE this game. The music in the last level is the best!

Is the second boss at the end level (14:21) Still the Guardian dragon or a different one?

  • Unforgettable game.

  • I loved this game. One of my favorite Saturn Games.

Btw. is it really called "Panzer Dragoon II Zwei" in the NTSC Version? Because, its useless. Im german, and "Zwei" is german and just means "Two". :D

  • Yeah. Furthermore, Panzer is a German tank.

  • @Steiloking aye, and I believe in some regions, the first game was called Panzer Dragoon Ein.

  • I've always loved this game. I've got every Saturn-based Panzer Dragoon title, and still dust off the Saturn to play them from time to time. The music in Zwei stands out in particular, IMO, and that final stage music...definitely some of my favorite in the history of games...

  • You nearly lost all your healths in that last fight. That fight is very difficult.

  • still one of the best saturn games!!

  • They should remake this game for the Xbox 360 or something. Nothing big, just some higher polygon count models and high resolution textures. And maybe make some of the motion more realistic (they wouldn't have much to do there, it's already excellent. But there's always room for improvement).

  • what the heck is the big black flying thing called? i remember reading bout it a while ago, but ive forgotten. x.x

  • sega really alienates its hardcore audience.

ive supported them forever and in recent years i have been very disgusted with them for not

trying to remake this remarkale series.

panzer dragoon orta was a step in the right

direction but where are the sequels sega!!!!

  • yeah one of the greatest games of all time, excellent atmosphere and great gameplay. i managed to emulate the game on the pc with ssf . and looks great

  • damn, I could never beat the second form of the guardian dragon. Must have been hard!

  • I finisht the Game 100%, love it^^

  • I heart Panzer Dragoon. ^-^ I have for over 12 years now, actually. o.o

  • never played this game so heres a question, is the dragon supposed to be firing lasers?

  • Such an amazing dreamlike game. The music is unbelievable.

  • Games like this, Guardian Heroes, and Solar Eclipse are why the Saturn held it's market value as long as it did.

  • this game was soooo ahead of its time!!!

  • god i miss this game!! i couldn't believe the amazing difference in the graphics from part 1 to part 2!! part 2 is gorgeous!!!

  • they need to bring bac sega saturn =( it ROCKED!!!

  • To be honest, this close-to-death gaming is better than no-hit runs. Great job, Digi!

  • One of my favorite aspects about this game and NiGHTS is the widescreen support. Get to play them in 16:9 on my HDTV, even though the resolution is something hilarious on a 720p screen. *grin*

Regarding the music, this game and its sequel used Cybersound to produce its unique sound. I wish Sega would bring back that software for use on more games. The last game to use Cybersound was Skies of Arcadia...

  • I just wish Sega would bring back Panzer Dragoon. :( As well as Virtual-On (its shitty PS2 venture doesn't count).

Anyway, great run, Digi. Had me on the edge of my seat with the final guy. (I haven't faced him... then again, I could only ever beat the game on Easy. blah)

  • Wow...Again, such beauty in such a game like this. The FM cutscenes were as wonderous as the game itself. Do not worry in your performance in the 6th Episode, Digimon. You had done just fine.
