  • 3 years later the spending that help and create jobs and boost economy so why did the stimulus bill didn't work? Answer me that.

  • @lovejen01 Your question is actually answered right within the first few minutes of the video.

  • @Apillis124 my question still was not answered unemployment went up, business stil shutting down, no major economic up swing. Also companies that did receive stimulus particularly green job companies already going bankrupt after getting millions and billions of dollars example Solyndra. So Bull Pucky

  • @Apillis124 why did remove your comment?

  • @lovejen01 It had typoes, so I removed it and rewrote it with the corrections.

  • @Apillis124 okay, but my question still was not answered. Really after 3 years no real proof of any improvement.

  • @lovejen01 Before saying anymore. What would you constitute as "real" improvement? More so, considering at its best we are not likely to recover from the current economic issue for about 7 to 10 years--that's if everything works beautifully from here on without obstruction.

  • @Apillis124 when Wal-mart, Costco, Target or any major retail start hiring in large numbers. we won't recover if Obama is reelected.

  • @lovejen01 That doesn't make any sense largely do to the fact they have been out-hiring small businesses for over 20 years now. But, if they're hiring more people... that's a good thing. However, manufacturing jobs had been in decline starting in '97, and by the end of the last administration had been down by 29%. Within the last couple years they have been on the rise. So, again to clarify, what exactly do you see as a "real" improvement?

  • @Apillis124 you didn't understand my comment, i said when those companies start hiring in large numbers then you will see improvement. When major retailers start hiring that means other business are hiring large or small.

  • @lovejen01 Yes, I got that. But you see, the reality is large retailers have always hired more people--even more people than manufacturing jobs. Because retailers like WalMart and Target span the nation with outlets that have typically 500-1000+ employees in small towns with just a few thousand people in population to major cities with numerous outlets. They have always hired in "large numbers" since their expansive boom in the mid-70s to 80s all the way to present day.

  • @Apillis124 you do see the point i was getting at though, just simple matter of people being hired.

  • @lovejen01 I know. And the point is that they are, and always have been by large retail outlets. It's symbiotic. Manufacturing jobs being on the rise means more production of goods for people to purchase. Where do people purchase these goods? Since the 90s the most popular place to purchase them is large retail outlets, like WalMart and Target. Which in turn makes them hire more people in order to move and sell the goods. But large retailers have always hired lots of people, irregardless.

  • @Apillis124 no argument there, again my point was simply hiring people.

  • @lovejen01 Okay.

  • If you're watching this, please help me draw attention to something I feel is being missed. Take a few moments of your time and look up how many right wing groups, politicians and their family members and local republican associations run and operate nonprofit organizations. Now trace the personal benefits they gain from them. Is it possible that the very same people that claim they don't support food stamps, welfare & national health care, are actually milking the system out of millions? Well ?

  • this girl is giving me a boner

  • Great idea Rachel... lets spend more... spend, spend, spend, spend, spend spend, spend, spend... then lets go to the hospitals and tell the lung cancer patients to out and smoke some more. Rachel, you are a fucking dumbass!!!

  • @chinesedevildog ur the dumb one. Lets be honest here we need to SPEND. You think that by saving money under my couch will create jobs. I don't think so. And i understand that spending leads to depth but guess what if i take out a loan and get a big profit because of that loan don't you think i will be able to pay that loan quickly. And also i understand the risks but that's how life and investments are its a total risk but sometimes the rewards are worth it.

  • @chinesedevildog I can't see the parallel between lung cancer and basic Keynesian economic theory?

  • @stoltobot Basically its saying if some govt. (in this case) is hurting for funds... you would not tell them to spend even more. In the same way you would not tell a lung cancer patient that they need to have a cigarette.

  • without trying to go into this really interesting and surprisingly civil debate here, take note for example of Dubai or Qatar; one an emirate and the other a state; practically grew out from the dessert into huge financial hubs with huge money involved. these two wonder cities have been created by the huge spending effort in infrastructure (Dubai being the prime example), and hence became a passageway for oil even though none of the two being huge oil countries

  • Vote Republican 2012: "We don't like math"

  • All the left produce is WORDS. Unfortunatley you can't export words.

  • Give it a rest Rachel. You people on the left, both here in Britain and in America, have never understood economics.

As for your melodaramatic 'BUYING' emphases. No Rachel, you're wrong again. The reason America is in the sh*t, is because America isn't MAKING and exporting enough things, because for the last 40 years, you left liberals have classed industrial workers as right wing reactionaries and silenced them forever, with your attorney-like reasoning. You are not the friend of the poor.

  • TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON TREASON !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shes soo stupid it's painful

  • John McCain just reminds me of my drunken grandfather.

  • @rl4286 So...it's been 2 years. Where are all the jobs that Obama created rapidly according to Rachel Maddow?

  • @Mrparrot73 We could continue to shot at each other that Obama didnt keep his promise. I could say that Obama didnt have any means to accomplish that (fixing a economy is really hard). So on and So on... but the thing is I never said I was pro obama and I refuse to play stupid political games with you.

  • @rl4286 Hard for Obama? I thought his slogan was "Yes we can".

  • We are the government, all they are trying to do is stimulate the economy! I don't think it will work. The economy is like a huge train that is running away, let the economy correct itself because it's going to do what it's going to do. We need to suffer some because the economy is trying to make a correction, stimulus will help a little but it won't work!

  • why do tax rebates because even if it does less. it is more popular. There are times that the best answer is not always the must popular.

  • so a government can actually invest money into the country like a company; interesting

  • I'm learning a lot about macroeconomics from this; cool;

  • Bush had no credibility with the American people, despite the facts that he may have gotten a few things right during his presidency. A stopped clock is right more often than Bush ever could have hoped to have been, so forgive the liberals if they lost all faith and ability to believe in Bush prior to him passing any stimulus bills.

It's natural that people who have no faith in you will complain about everything you do. Difference being that people had good reason to have no faith vs now.

  • Had the US not passed the stimulus, the country would not look like the UK (ok, economically weak, but at least holding a good level of unemployment, some activity and some green shoots of recovery), but rather like Ireland, with banks being fully bailed-out by the state, an IMF-led bailout of the country and 15% unemployment, plus mass emigration. And Ireland did go through a tax-cut, spending control policy, at least taking out the exception of the bail-outs...

  • The Koch Brothers are republican evil right winged supporters!

  • Rachel Maddow the Rhodes scholar- only certain types of people are picked by the puppet masters to be Rhodes scholars and they all have one thing in common: the advancement of one world government. Its fitting that she is on MSNBC, owned by General Electric. A truly evil company who had a hand in building the Japanese reactors that are about to destroy Japan, all the way back to funding Hitlers' push for a one world government. She is the mouthpiece for your enemy.

  • morons....seriously fucking morons

  • shit i thought this bitch was intelligent, spending when country dosent produce is more debt the reason for the hole

  • I would point out that rachael is a little off base on this one. In a international market/economy tax cuts are how you attract international buisness and investers who provide capital and jobs. So by spending less money you get other people to spend for you.

The only kind or stimulous that has ever show historically to do well is to invest in infastructure as FDR did. The construction generates short time employment the improved infastructure generates new commerce and from that : jobs.

  • @jkellyid that only works for corporate tax cuts.....

  • @SchafeyWafey

It doesn't work only for corporate tax cuts, there are factors like taxes(inocome, property, etc.), labor costs, inflation/exchange rates, infastructure that all contribute to manufacturing. GM is paying corporate taxes here but they have their factories in mexico and canada. Meanwhile toyota and Honda have equal or more factories here than our "domestic" companies.

Just saying that its a little more complex is all.

  • @jkellyid Not all the time, although it does work most of the time. Countries like France, Germany and even the UK have attracted foreign investment in factories and offices, even with higher taxation, but less high healthcare costs, mostly thanks to the infrastructure which had been built in the past. ONLY, and only, after such a period of public-spending should a state let go, leaving the infrastructure work for private companies, since you've given them the base of economic growth.

  • I ussually hate cable news because of their innaccuracy to grasp important topics and bias, But this is absolutely fantastic.

Maddow couldn't be more on the ball

  • wow it's cool to watch these things a year after and see where the chips actually fell. rachel maddow is a fucking idiot.

  • I think Rachel just needs some dick in her.. lol

  • its really annoying that she has to say bullpucky its bullshit for fuck sake. can fcc fuck off she is an adult on an adult news show.

  • rachel is digital full blown aids

  • Who is this fellow Rachael Maddow?

  • Rachel - go back to Canada and practice your "alternative lifestyle" in the Yukon... far away from civilization.

  • Food stamps actually HELP stimulate the economy?

    That's epic.

  • @Suzaku000 It is. And thats why we are increasing it. Its been positive so far and helped a lot of businesses stay alive and keep afloat. Which equal more jobs :)

  • @joseph591

It makes me lol because the crazy right-wing is trying to make the bush tax cuts permanent and eliminate food stamps. It almost seems like they're TRYING to destroy the economy. And if that's the case, then they should be exiled from power.

  • @Suzaku000 Yes food stamps help the economy. Maybe if you understood economics, you would understand.

100% of food stamp money goes into the economy. Then grocery stores can hire more people and these people then spend their wages and on and on.

That is why there is a Multiplier Effect - with additional hiring etc., every dollar that goes to food stamps actually increases the economy by $1.73.

Google "food stamps offer best stimulus" and you will see the study.

  • @TheSnoopy1750

    I did long ago.

  • @Suzaku000 Sorry, I was trying to respond to another comment.

  • @TheSnoopy1750 Hey let's give everybody a million dollars they could buy houses, cars, jewelery etc that would really help the economy

  • The queen of democratic spin? I'm in love!

    American politics is awesome.

  • I LUV OBAMA!:)

  • I'm glad to see your ridiculous justification for Obama's scam. We're looking at little to no job creation from the Obama administration. You've drank the Kool-Aid my friend.

Obama is lining his friends pockets, just like Bush did.... I could care less what party we're discussing... When does MSNBC start reporting the REAL news.

  • Why go for tax rebates over infrastructure spending? Because tax rebates to the public at large helps everyone right now. Spending on infrastructure helps construction workers on a weekly or bi-weekly basis (depending on how they're paid) and then everyone else 6 or 12 months later when the roads are nicer. ... Assuming their cars haven't been repo'd.

  • @praecorloth And what do those workers do with that money? Riiiiiiiiiiiiight, like everyone and their dog they BUY things. Food, carpayments, tv's & whatever, so they money flows into the public at large. Stimuli are like oiling a machine, to get things flowing again....

  • @LeafHuntress Riiiiiiiiiiight, but the difference between the two ideas is that in infrastructure spending, you give a certain amount of money to a limited number of people over a long period of time. vs tax rebates where you give a certain amount of money to a large number of people to get things going right now. Y'know, when the stimulus is needed.

  • @praecorloth How big was this package again? Like they only will spend it on infrastucture, though that is baaaadly needed in the US.....

Tax-cuts are only for those who are "richer" (relative term here) and those are more likely to hoard (also known as savings, a usefull thing that would do a lot of american good!) and you don't want that, it's ment to get things up and running again, not to go into the banks.

  • @LeafHuntress Oh I'll totally agree we need to spend on infrastructure. I'm just saying that if you want to pump money in to the economy, you do it through a tax rebate. Not a tax cut, I'll totally agree with you, those are for the richer folk. Taxes on the middle class will always remain roughly where they are, because the middle class is the backbone of whatever economic power America has.

Also totally agree with regards to savings. Savings accounts make banks richer, not people.

  • so u should spend billions of dollars on 2000 page bills that CONGRESS IS NOT READING and pass them as fast as possible??? and also can some liberal please explain to me how spending billions of dollars to "fix" the economy while we are already in TRILLIONS of dollars in debt

  • @strawberEfieldz4ever

Did you try reading it? It's in like triple spaced 42 font. It's almost light reading. Really. It's out there, read it yourself. Unless you don't care about the issue, in which case I suggest stepping aside and letting the real problem-solvers work on it. Laziness is not an excuse to do nothing.

  • @Krantz2389

How old is the video? Think about what you said again.

  • @snoman99991...check your calender libtard.. it's 2010 with a trillion dollar deficit. A president who takes credit for the troop surge he voted AGAINST is just like you.. flagrantly stupid.. but at least you have one friend..

  • @atomicdungeon

Are you stupid? When was this uploaded? See it? IT'S RIGHT BENEATH THE VIDEO ITSELF.

Why are you conservatives almost always this stupid?

  • Republicans want to slide backward while democrats want to moe forward!

  • 620,00 jobs lost in june 2010. bullpuckey Rachel you idiot ! You were wrong by a trillion dollars..NO CHANGE,NO HOPE .. did you draw that sign yourself.?

  • @atomicdungeon

The video is over a year and a half old. Are you stupid or something?

  • Republicans are insane Christanic theofascist terrorists and traitors. All of them.

  • democrat, or republican - you cant deny her point here.

  • Tax cuts? Insane is right. Reagan tired it and the National debt went up. Bush gave tax cuts and rebates while we're paying for two wars. Insane. The National Debt can only sky rocket when there is less money coming in and more money going out. Both presidents have proved it doesn't work, it sets us backward.

  • rachel maddow is a mental

  • REpublicans are fucking nuts.

  • No theories, only TRUTH VS. EVIL.

There is NO LAW on the books you have to pay income taxes!!! In FACT recently there have been multiple VERDICTS OF NOT GUILTY of people criminally charged with either failing to file or not paying income taxes. The JURYS (no one asked before) could find NO SUCH LAW REQUIRING AMERICANS TO PAY OR FILE INCOME TAXES (NEITHER COULD THE I.R.S. SHOW THE COURTS) You can FREAK NOW to learn the I.R.S. and income taxes are a decades old UNBELIEVABLE SCAM ON AMERICA.

  • Whatever happened to separation of church and state?

Hurray for bible-thumping, gun-toting, white trash...Because if you don't like the way things are run, form a militia in the name of GOD. That's what rational people do, right?

    WAHT.

  • 2:55 "Republicans may not like it but the way to create jobs fast is through spending."

Actually Rachel, Bush gave out over 700 billion dollars with no strings attached to various banking organizations and 300 billion of it disappeared. Republicans like to spend but only when it serves their personal interests. Typical conservative hypocrisy.

  • strange how many republican lovers alsway browse around opposing political sites..I never go see or hear what the Pea Party or the nut case republicans are saying on their sites or blogs..which tell's me they're fustrated..just got to live with it..or you'll need tons of health care

  • this guy is awesome

  • guy?

  • All the people who are out of work should call Ralph Maddow at MSNBC and find out where all those "high paying" windmill and solar panel jobs that Barry and his houseboy, Joe O'Biden promised.

  • Yeah...the stimulus worked great!!! I'm ecstatic that we now belong to China...and that we still have a 10% unemployment rate. Fantastic.

    Bull puckey, indeed.

  • Morons.... The point of the stimulus was never to cure things. It was to stall off the 20% unemployment we were headed to due to how Republicans ran things.

Stimulus was called for by economists of both parties.

Tax cuts,,, the answer to everything? No, buying votes from weak willed morons out of touch with reality.

  • @xdassinx ,"he point of the stimulus was never to cure things. It was to stall off the 20% unemployment we were headed to due to how Republicans ran things.

Stimulus was called for by economists of both parties. "

Yep. Let me just add to this specifically that this includes conservative economist Martin FeldStein. Also the conservative AEI and conservative economist Mark Zandi both concluded the stimulus worked.

  • @xdassinx Don't you realize that both parties suck? When are you going to stop handing the government your freedom? The stimulus solves absolutely nothing, 130,000 more job claims in July. Did you know we hired 540,000 people for the census? That's more than DOUBLE of all elctronic retail employees! Niether side works, duh. Your out of touch with reality.

  • @xdassinx Yeah you are a total retard, perhaps if you got obama's fat nigger cock out of your queer ass and then after it stoped queefing then maybe you would understand.

  • @xdassinx Tax cuts for the poor who can't afford them would be welcome relief for many of them. But giving tax cuts to the rich? (aka bush admin.) That's just not right.

  • @xdassinx

exactly. Fiscal stimulus in economics is mostly agreed to be a temporary measure. The hope is that the economy can weather out the storm until growth catches up. Fiscal stimulus also raises interest rates, which gives the incentive for people to save instead of borrow. Overall an agreeable solution.

  • the more we spend the more we owe! the more we are enslaved as a society.! giving people money would inject money into the economy but what when that money runs out from those peoples money... give them more???

  • Well, considering Jefferson raped his slaves and tried to hide his activities behind his political office, an insult from him is a positive thing. That does mean that his words on the equality of human beings was, in his genuine estimation, a myth. What then should we say about his preamble to the American constitution, words he was denying in his daily actions? Atheist heroes invariably turn out bad...

  • @curvalecce

    So do catholic priests.

Or bishops, if you want to look at history.

    Or cardinals.

Or Popes (pick 1 of the three Popes of the early 15th century).

Agreed, that invoking Jefferson accomplishes nothing, but why does no-one recognize that, when talking about the constitution?

  • "Religions are all alike - founded upon fables and mythologies."

    Thomas Jefferson

  • The liberal hacks got their stimulus bill and unemployment is now over 10%. All that money was pissed away.

  • Forget everything you know.

All the media does is lie to you.

    Go read a book.

  • thank u, couldnt say it better

  • Maddow's hysteria seems a bit dated if not comical nine months after this rant. The U.S. economy is emerging from the recession in spite of the vast sums doled out in the so-called "stimulus," most of which will not be spent until 2010 and 2011.

Maddow is a liar, a hypocrite, a partisan hack. She and her lefty buddies will do whatever it takes to buttress this failing Administration. Nothing is beneath them.

  • And Fox is "opinion TV" with an agenda ? MSNBC is a joke !

  • The Rachel Maddow show is a liberal program.

Fox News is a bunch of conservative programs.

Don't like it, do what the liberals do with Fox, don't watch. People like to here the news from people they agree with.

  • All of them have opinions or they'd have no ratings.

At least MSNBC isn't trying to liken our current president to Hitler.

  • At least MSNBC doesn't make reference to Nazi's? ... Really ?

Just Google Olbermenn Bush Nazi you fucking short minded hypocrite !

Typical liberal response, God forbid you research your comment before posting .

  • fou2nvover, God damn. You're the reason every other country hates America. You're unemployed but probably not even looking for work. People buy products from other countries because America fails to make a good product EVERY TIME. When you are overweight, and only concerned with money, and live in a country that is overrun by ignorant conservatives who believe Jesus is magic, then why should people be expected to do the right thing? In America, the right choice is ALWAYS the wrong choice.

  • Colburn sucks monkey balls

  • THese same people were not complaining when Bush signed a stimulus package. Bull-shit-Puckey

  • @artvandelay0 Yes they were! The truth is that Glenn BEck and Michael SAvage have been screaming and critizing Bush just as hard as the left since 2004. But since you can't comprehend learning facts I'll let Rachel Maddow keep poisoning your mind.

  • @Glenn666 For one I don't watch Rachel Maddow and 2 don't tell me about "mind poison" when you are spouting the ideologies of phony libertarians such as Beck and Savage. You should also get rid of the 666 by your name if you want to keep Glenn from criticizing you. There is nothing more than the mind control freaks of religion hate more than a wannabe theistic satanist.

  • @artvandelay0IT Does it matter what you watch if you can't accept the truth that Glenn Beck and Savage have been screaming louder about Bush than anyone else? Which phony ideology are you talking about? Also, you shouldn't tell me what to do with my name. My name is Glenn Mendoza, 666 is simply numbers to me. IT's one less than 667, that's it. I'm not religious, I'm what you could call a monotheist. You don't even know me, so don't judge me and stick words in my mouth.

  • @Glenn666 Understood Glenn, but don't you think that you are judging me too quickly without even knowing me? Glenn and Mike are just shills for the phony right wing just like Maddow is a shill for the left. They have copied off of Alex Jones and people like him, and if I were you I would be very weary of anything that has "Fox" written on it. I stumbled upon this vid and commented on the republican's hypocrisy, that's all. Also, I wouldn't give my full name in any comment if I were you.

  • @artvandelay0 I'm sorry for speaking on your behalf, I didn't read slow enough I apologize to you sincerely. I don't mind sharing my name, I don't have guilt or anything to hide. I'm just trying to figure the truth in this spinning ball of confusion we call the universe. I believe that Savage or Glenn arent shills for anyone, but themselves. They are both honest and imperfect humans like you and I, Rachel Maddow is simply engaged in promoting the worst American government in history.

  • if you want a real economy that doesn't bust every 5 years, you reduce the vast percentage of our economy that is run by the government. If you want a short term fix that distorts the economy and makes us even less efficient in the long run, just trust everything to Obama.

  • prove it!

  • touche. Economics is a very subjective sport.

  • she reminds me of Olberman.

  • Rachel Maddow for president!

  • Hows that simulus working for you. 2.5 MILLION lost since itsbeen signed.

  • the simulus is supposed to prevent further loss and not stop the loss all together...

  • Comment removed

  • If you are not so Ignorant MAYBE you might learn from it and understand THAT is exactly how THE MUST of the people on the world has to live like.

  • I Do know there are people having economic problems in USA, i DO know there is poverty right now in USA but... where is the money??? America has it!!! your government just have to SPEND IT on the RIGHT way... but wait... the weapon - war industry have to keep winning!!! It´s just more important than the people of USA!

So... guilty of your own policies.

  • Not having money to spend doesn´t mean you´re poor!!! It just means you are not able to fall in to this excess of taking so the monopoly can be bigger!!!

So... the world has to keep suffering because Americans have to BUY stuff they don´t really need??? in order to save the economy??? Ho´s economy???

And then you wonder WHY are Americans so undesirable ALL OVER THE PLANET!!!

  • Do you realise it takes about 100 third-world humans to live in EXTREME POVERTY (much worse than you poor Americans are suffering) only so you (and some other countries) can live the way you understand as NECESSARY.

we have to take this opportunity to clean up the mess...

Americans are feeling now the way EVERY person in Central and south America are USED to live!!! Not to mention Asian and African countries.

  • its funny watching this now and seeing how wrong she is

  • No doubt she's a lesbian as well.

  • she is a lesbian and she is out about it

  • Republicans are at the tailor's right now getting the pockets taken out of their pants. There is a back log.

  • I dont like this woman, she is way to cocky for my taste. She acts if she owns all the answers but she only repeats what someone has told her.

  • but people are so stupid that the stuff needs to be repeated, in a more comprehensive manner.

  • There is no money because the government takes it all! God, this woman is insane!

  • There's no money because the government takes it all? That makes no sense, the money doesn't disappear, it just changes hands from individuals to government then back to individuals.

  • Umm, your telling me that the money goes back to the people.... I say when the people get it back it is worth less therefore their money, in sense of value, disappears. The money does not make it back to the individual, it makes it back to the poor. It is taken from one hand, a fee is accrued, then the left over is given to the poor with less monetary value then when it was taken. My statement was very general but I intended it to be that way. Did that make any sense?

  • no the value of the money is exactly the same, your talking about efficiency of money not value, and actually the stimulus which is what "this women" is talking about isn't anything to do with redistribution of wealth, it stimulates by increasing lagging demand to meet supply, its called counter cyclical spending and has nothing to do with redistribution, hence why the Bush administration initiated the first stimulus last year. As "this women" says, it's economics 101...

  • My reply was not about the stimulus, it was about one thing "this insane woman" said 25 seconds into the video. I know and understand the purpose of the stimulus(as misguided as it may be" but that is not what I was talking about. I, in fact, was talking about the redistribution of wealth. I thought I made it clear considering my last comment had an example of that. Understand what you read before you speak about it, Its reading comprehension 101.

  • You refered to this women as insane, yet your arguing a point that she never even mentions? hmmm... nice! I'm not sure you should be so condescending about 'reading comprehension' after a fuck up like that... Your right actually, I don't think I do understand what you wrote, but then again, I don't think you did either.

  • value - monetary or material worth, as in commerce or trade

Typically, in America, most businesses require you to fill out a W-2(tax form) which allows the government to automatically take out taxes from your wages. At the end of each year most Americans have overpaid on these taxes and are giving a return for their overages. By the time the money gets back to the persons hands, it is typically worth less than it was when it was taken in the first place.

  • Yet the depreciation of the dollar is not factored into the return as the overages were not technically investments. Therefore, by the time the money gets back into the persons hand it is less "valuable". So when I say "There is no money because the government takes it all!" I am pertaining to the fact that the government takes the money, and prints new unbacked money on top of it(which indeed reduces its vaue), then returns the overages back to the individual worth less than before.

  • Oh Mauhadeeb, when are you ever right. First of all the government doesn't just print new money on top of the money all the time, the money supply of the US is probably the tightest in the world because of Freidman's heavy influence. Secondly what your talking about isn't narrowed to taxes, inflation effects everything so if I get paid monthly then I'm still being effected since I'm not getting paid after every hour of work. Thirdly...

  • ... the last few months there's been deflation (look at the inflation rates), so even if the government had held money in the form of tax before giving it back, the money would actually have RISEN in value over that period. During March April and May your money would have risen overall by about 1%.

  • That maybe true but lets use the value of our dollar next to the Euro. March 4th, the dollar was 0.796 the worth of a a Euro. As of July 17th, the dollar was worth 0.709. Indeed using this statistic it show a weakening dollar, not one that is on the rise. It will mostly likely fall to roughly 57% of the Euro by the same time next year. I hope that is not the case.

This stimulus package was obviously not created to stimulate. If it was, it must have been written by an 8 year old.

  • Get a life Pat Buchanan this 2009 not back in the time when you and your KKK crew ran for President .. this is a new day a new time and a I think you need to retire with the rest of those Old School Republicans that holding us back from progress..

  • Way to copy and paste your own post. haha Try again.

  • I like this girl! lol Republicans are terrifying

  • god republican politicians make me sick.

  • lol "nice try though"

  • Obama's statement on here is toooo funny! LOL!

    Great job Rachael.

  • I LOVE YOU!

  • Rachel Maddow!!!!!

    She is a smart cookie

    excellent video =D

  • I love comparing Maddows analysis to that of blow hards like limbaugh and hannity. She actually presents facts, with references. All the right wingers do is shout scary words like 'socialist' with very little reference to the reality of the situation.

  • We now sit at 9.4% unemployment.

The Obama economic team promised no higher than 8% unemployment with the stimulus. In fact their worse case WITHOUT the stimulus was 9%. and that wasn't supposed to happen until 2010.

So Spending $1 gets us $1.75 back? Um? Bull pucky?

Heres a thought, get the government out of our way so that the producers can produce.

  • would you have let the capitalist system solve itself if you were president?

  • Yes. Dramatically contract the govt sector. Reduce taxes. Maintain the integrity of contracts. All things Bush and Obama have failed to do.

  • Is this because when we've tried to save the stock market before, it totally failed?

  • The government shouldn't try to save anything. Its not the role of the federal government to control the economy.

  • What is the role of the government?

  • @HeavyStone86 The economic role of the fed. govt is to provide the level playing field. To enforce contract law etc. I don't think they should become the largest participant.. They just aren't that bright.

  • To make sure civil rights of citizens are not being violated and to protect the nation from foreign threat; Thats pretty much it.

  • I am sure that is only one part of it. Not the whole role though

  • keep religon out of public schools .

  • allow both or keep perversion out of public schools too

  • rachel rocks, brilliant 10 minutes.

there's nothing i love more than watching conservative rhetoric being exposed as the giant pile of heaping SHIT it really is.
