I hope another choral group records this beautiful song. Lovely as the all-female Pacific Empire Chorus sounds, male voices are needed to anchor it. An SATB version would definitely move the song up to "anthem" status.
Beautiful melody but for the Anthem of Republic of California, the structure of the song is not so powerful and true. California is the golden state, people here work hard and enjoy the wellness, wealth from this beautiful land. Think this, what's difference between Republic of California with other states in United States ?

Even though California has a lot of problems, I still love this state beyond words. It's my home state and I wouldn't have it any other way. "I Love You California" is just not that great of a song. This literally made me well up. Great song, I hope one day every Californian knows the lyrics.
Would someone please list the words to this song. I would urge all Californian's to send this to Governor Brown and the entire California legistlature to seriously considering this song California's new official state song.

I'm from Virginia, and I have to agree that this should in fact become the new anthem for the Golden State of California. In Tennessee they like 6 offical state songs with the Tennessee Waltz be there main state song. Your current state song should remain but adopt this song as well, do to some of the elderly people that may like your current state song. If Tennessee can do it, and so can the people of California. All you Californan's should fight to have this as your 2nd state song.

However, American history has a lot of mistakes by imperialists. They invaded many countries to establish an American Empire. US army has used bomb and weapons to threaten the world.
California was Native American land. Then Spain stole it from the Native Americans. Then Mexico stole it from Spain. Now your gonna cry because Americans stole it from Mexico? You're Hilarious.
Besides Mexico didn't put up much of a fight. We basically raised the bear flag and the Mexicans shrugged their shoulders and said whatever. In legal terms that would be called implied consent.
Although I no longer live in California, I was born there and I fully support adopting this song as California's state anthem. This has a more stately and "anthem-like" quality than "I Love You, California," which is more like movie music from the 1930's. I could easily hear this song played by an orchestra or band for official or sporting events.

They need to make this song the new Californian Anthem...it would be really great to have an anthem like this, Peaceful, Happy, and a bit Majestic on the tunes about my State and home, California...Proud to be a Californian...
With no disrespect to "I Love You California", this seems to be a much better anthem. Maybe it's just the chorus singing it, but the tune seems have a more "epic" feel to it, real anthem status, instead of just a sort of catchy tune, and it really evokes a sort of California nationalism, a real feeling of what it means to be a Californian. Here's to hoping it somehow becomes the official anthem. Even if not, it's a great song.
