I love the way she plays! It's like she's dancing!! I really do envy you,Valerie.... The way you play, how your fingers move(can you teach me how to play faster and louder?? <p),and your expression when you play the piece is.. something that cannot be put into words! I hope you keep on doing your best!
Beautifully expressive and perfect performance Valerie (as usual). You have a beautiful smile also and I really would like to have a kitten from that dress. It's beautiful too.
everytime I watch them performing the hairs on my hands will standXD watching them play.. its just fantastic. will live to see them grow up into famous musicians known around the world!
I was previously unfamiliar with this work. Of course no one is going to tell me that JSB ever wrote a "Piano Concerto"! OK - I realise now it is a Keyboard Concerto - just read the bit @ the top duh! To most ppl a keyboard is like a little pluggable in synth which costs a hundred bucks! BWV1052 makes this a late work (hey I've overtaken Bach with my K. numbers now!) Can I just make it clear that I am not remotely in the league of J S Bach. He is #2 of all time with LVB being #1 (of course!)
While Bach acted as a middleman in the sale of a fortepiano and even tried them out on at least 2 occasions, few people owned them and they did not catch on until after his death.
His estate included 8 harpsichords, 3 violins, 3 violas, 1 small bass, 2 cellos, 1 bass viola da gamba, and 1 lute --- but not 1 stinkin fortepiano.
According to the autograph score and other sources it's a concerto for harpsichord.
The generic term "keyboard concerto" is used by modern instrument ensembles to deceive audiences into thinking Bach intended it for whatever keyboard instrument was handy, including a piano.
Even though the fortepiano was introduced when Bach was a teenager, it did not catch on until after his death. In his day, the keyboard instrument of choice for chamber music was always the harpsichord.
Unfortunately I'm to old to experience, but the younger ones will me remember my prophecy this wonderchild - and her sister too - will be given performances on the greatest stages. I'm sure.
i wont be able to play anything like this for a long long long long long long long long long long long (i could go on but i dont feel like it...) time yuppp im 11 tho :P
I agree completely but surely a 10 year old does not succeed to such an extent of their own accord and i cant help wondering how much she has been pushed? Timewise she couldnt have much time to be a child and through perfoming like this she is having to act like a mini adult. obviously i hope she is happy in what she is doing because i hope to hear a lot more from her!
She is just a genius. Great power and dynamics! It's amazing to see that she plays two instruments so well. she must be innate her gifts from the God. Also, her stage performance manner is unbelievable. I am sure I will be seeing her lot in future.By the way which one is her main instrument? I just love watching both inst. She has a very bright future ahead of her. I would hate to see if she had to give up one of her instruments. GO VALERIE!
Bravo! You play so beautifully! This Bach Concerto is very hard, and your interpretation is the best I've ever heard! Standing Ovation for you! I LOVE IT!!
This is another fine performance. If it sounds too loud, it's because of the accoustics, which make it hard to get a good recording without a lot of high-tech equipment.

Absolutely brilliant. This is my favorite piano concerto of all time. I used to toy around with it and dream of having an orchestra back me, but I was never good enough to do it justice. I love that you added your own flair to the piece in spots. Did you do the first movement as well? I'll have to look.
a "keyboard concerto" means a concerto for a keyboard instrument. that "keyboard" does not mean the electronic keyboards that we often simplify to "keyboards" nowadays. keyboard instruments include piano, harpsichord, and organ
I looooooove this concerto!!

Of course it would sound much more "authentic" on a harpsichord. Please see cellistae's comment below.
Haha, I do get that a lot about the "keyboard" in the title. I think there were some earlier comments as such.
So, are you placing yourself firmly as #3? ahead of WAM?
jungkim2020 3 years ago
I am not remotely in the top 26 !

It's not authentic at all on a piano.
While Bach acted as a middleman in the sale of a fortepiano and even tried them out on at least 2 occasions, few people owned them and they did not catch on until after his death.

You had asked (in a comment on my channel) Valerie's age in this video.
Sorry, I usually add age in the title or description section, but I didn't for this video. I've added now. She's 10.
I tried to answer in a message to you, but you only accept messages from friends. I've requested.
An aside: She will perform this piece again at Copley Symphony Hall with San Diego Symphony on Jan.31, 2009.

oh how awesome! If only a harpsicord can be used as well to add that zest and crisp! (: It's still a fantastic piece of work no doubt!

Yes, a harpsicord would have been really cool.

flutendancelover 3 years ago 10
oh i see i see. So we can choose which one to play the concerto on isit?
cellistae 3 years ago 4
No. The autograph score and other sources say it's a harpsichord concerto.
Only in the minds of piano players and modern instrument ensembles is it a "keyboard concerto" playable on whatever keyboard is handy.
