I don't think the problem in this video is hit detection, its most likely just the realistic aiming system in the game. Bf2 uses a system in which bullet spread will increase depending on your shooting position and whether/not you are moving. In other words, your bullets will go in all directions if you move and shoot, even if the muzzle of your gun doesn't appear to be.

Lag has absolutely nothing to do with this. He already told you that this is a local server, that he himself hosted. The coding is at fault, in fact this same issue applies to Bad Company 2. However you were able to fix the hit detection in BF2 through console commands, and some other workarounds. If you still insist on this being the cause of lag, go ahead. Right now I have a pretty slow Coneection but i used to have the best they could offer here at spain with FastPath activated, my latency in all other games i used to play even MMO where about 50-80ms. BFBC2 was the best of the days 100ms.

lesson to learn here, lag creates problems. if a highly competing games like battle field series or call of duty. there is always gonna end up being laggy at some point. leading to your bullet problem being shitty at hitting a side of the barn. its lag, not hit detection. but i dont know the gameplay on battlefield 2 but i know BC 2 has bullet travel so its hard to tell if it is hit detection problems.

Looks absolutely fine to me. The only shots that missed in the video are the ones where the weapon spray determined that the bullet wouldn't be dead-on.
That's why I play modded versions like project reality or forgotten hope 2. It is a lot more realistic and fun since most of the players are older and more serious. Plus all of the flaws that dice forgot to fix are no longer there.

The hit detection for BF2 is utterly cringe worthy. Many times ive heard that sound and can see my body ingame be blatently shot to shit with bullets, yet Im completely fine. Same when you shoot someone clean in the face with a shotgun and simply nothing happens. I hope if there IS going to be a next real battlefield game, they would have sorted this problem out.

bf2 + special forces worked fine, until I had to reformat and reinstall... spent a whole day trying to get the game + expansion to install and eventually gave up.
Luckily the game works now that they stopped making patches a long time ago, but I will never pay for another EA game again.

lesson to learn here, lag creates problems. if a highly competing games like battle field series or call of duty. there is always gonna end up being laggy at some point. leading to your bullet problem being shitty at hitting a side of the barn. its lag, not hit detection. but i dont know the gameplay on battlefield 2 but i know BC 2 has bullet travel so its hard to tell if it is hit detection problems.

@darlthris No, it's hit detection. They're probably the only 2 in the server, lag is not an issue there. That's the reason they chose an empty server. It could be Lan for all you know.
You either don't know what your talking about or have never played BF2. Or both... Yea probably both.

@patrolmostwanted bf2 and 1942 and Vietnam made the series what it is BFBC2 at least is arcady with 4 classes with medics weilding machine guns and other things I have seen. bfbc had 24 player support thats nice but bf1942 had 64. the bad company series are dices attempts to make a Codesque type game.

@yudontsay maybe you could say exactly what point i should be looking at, at one part he is aiming directly at him, another beside him, when its beside him only some hit, and here it is, this game looks way dif than mine (i am on xbox) but i can tell you this, why are they both running, if you run and hip fire, your gun is not accurate at all, he misses him just as he hits him when the gun is pointed SLIGHTLY behind him because the bullets aren't hitting the center of the cross hairs anymore

Looks absolutely fine to me. The only shots that missed in the video are the ones where the weapon spray determined that the bullet wouldn't be dead-on.

That's why I play modded versions like project reality or forgotten hope 2. It is a lot more realistic and fun since most of the players are older and more serious. Plus all of the flaws that dice forgot to fix are no longer there.

i agree mostly its bullet time travel.all this hit detection is affected by ping/grapfic lag and the details of every character(which are very detailed indeed) and bullet time travel.you should aim eyes and lower.and not at the corner of the characters body.pretty simple isnt it?....

If it was "bullet travel time" it would have not hit when aiming behind the person, and be sure to hit when leading.
It's the other way around.

Wrong. A new patch, v1.50, has been in development for a long time and we're currently in the third beta. The patch is said to be released within the next two weeks (20th of July +++). ;)

this happened to me today when i was in a tank shooting at some inf.
the guy shaked and ate all my bullets but didnt drop. only after i moved the crosshair a little bit forward his direction it hit.
with such bad aim detection its really annoying shooting moving targets as a sniper.

The hit detection for BF2 is utterly cringe worthy. Many times ive heard that sound and can see my body ingame be blatently shot to shit with bullets, yet Im completely fine. Same when you shoot someone clean in the face with a shotgun and simply nothing happens. I hope if there IS going to be a next real battlefield game, they would have sorted this problem out.

bf2 + special forces worked fine, until I had to reformat and reinstall... spent a whole day trying to get the game + expansion to install and eventually gave up.
Luckily the game works now that they stopped making patches a long time ago, but I will never pay for another EA game again.
