  • I play my guitar out if this and its great!! My question is that my bass is plugged into its own amp but I can still hear it out of my guitar amp too? I dont want to damage the speakers. I have the pedal (rc 50) in my FX loop.... and guitar in front of amp. Bass is plugged directly in the amp then to "instrument" in the pedal into the back of the bass amp.Is this correct?

  • @Boogiethrash Hi. I'd take advantage of the stereo nature of the pedal: plug gtr into left in, bass into right in, go from left out to gtr amp, right out to bass amp. That will keep your signals separate.

  • amazing

  • Very nice demonstration, thanks. I am undecided between the 20xl and the 50...

  • Assuming you play out live, how the your audience respond to the time it takes you to build your complex patterns.

  • @dizzack They get bored and walk out.

I have streamlined it since making this video and now I play and sing whole songs with the looper, starting with just guitar and voice, so there's no real delay at the beginning. I bring in a new sound with each verse, do a solo on lap steel or something for verse 3, then take it all out for the last sung verse and kick it all back in for a big ending.

  • What is that drum box that I see people sitting on and playing??? Is it miked or wired with a pickup?

  • @itwasallgoodinthe70s That's a cajon. They're easy to build and easy to play. Like 90% of all percussion instruments, you need to use a microphone (which can be built in, of course).

  • hi, it was an amazing performance. i wanted to ask you a couple of things about it. one.. how u avoid getting sounds when unplugging and plugging the instruments.. and two, if you can also loop say a verse.. then loop a chorus.. and then go back to the saved verse again and maybe loop it more? and do it all at once without presaving in the memory.. your answers would be highly appreciated.. thank you and great video!

  • @litogotpunked : thank you.

    1. I use a pedal tuner to mute the signal when i'm unplugging and plugging.

    2. The RC50 has a mode that allows you to record three separate sections of music and select the one you want at any time. However, I haven't gone far down that path. I found that when I switch to a new section by kicking a pedal, it stops recording, so another kick is needed, and then I'm past the beat. Perhaps I've missed something and another user might be able to enlighten me.

  • @RobertBrayMusic make sure none of your patches are accidently set to single shot instead of loop, as i now mostly only ever use the single function to record different parts onto each pedal, you do have to click again to overdub just like in the multi set up but initial recording is imediate without missing a beat. Recording shouldnt stop. This pedals amazing you can even switch between multi and single functions by going into a new patch where you've previously saved your required setting.

  • @DirtyCs Good tip, thanks! Sorry the order of comments and replied sometimes gets mixed up on here.

  • @RobertBrayMusic the downside to doing that though does mean you loose what you had previously just looped, but i do actually have a question mate not just useless advice, was wondering how you are plugging so many instruments into it? as i'm thinking of buying a keyboard but cant work out how to run that and my guitar at the same time?

  • @DirtyCs Thanks for your advice; I'll try that. What I do to get so many instruments running is something like this: the cajon mic goes into the mic input, and I set the unit's output to 'SUB', and the SUB output goes to a powered monitor. I record the cajon to phrase 1, which is set to SUB out. Then I move to patch 2 to add some guitar. Now, the guitar is going into the LEFT input and the LEFT output goes to a guitar amp. (Running out of characters - see next message.)

  • hi, i like how you play. with the boss rc 50, can you connect two instruments? (example: in the plug instrument R (mono) a guitar and in the instrument L a keyboard)... thanks

  • @gelec777 you certainly can

  • Verry good performance. You play each instrument at an equaly high level.

  • this is amazing bro!!!

  • u deserve millions of views

  • Thank you

  • i have been doing alot of debating whether or not to buy a rc-50 loop machine.....i know quite a bit about music electronics but nothing about these types of machines. do these need to be hooked up to any computer or any interface ? or can you simply plug in an amp and an instrument and start looping????

    help would be greatly appreciated

  • You just plug in an instrument and an amp.

  • You don't even really need an amp; there's a headphone jack on the back.

  • I need more inputs than those provided on the rc-50 because I'm looking to plug in a drum machine, stereo guitar, effected vocals and synths. I've considered buying a mixer and plugging everything into the mixer and then plugging the mixer stereo output into the Rc-50 stereo input. has anyone done this??? do you know if it would work??? granted: i will only be playing one thing at a time.

  • it will work, bought my rc-50 today :P

  • @yeah5312 so did you try my suggestion with the mixer and it worked?

  • @saturnee7 Yeah saturnee this is exacly what I do, and most people who get the most out of these things do it the same way. Run everything into a mixer, then do an aux send to the looper, then go out of the looper back to the mixer. It is the best way to do it in every respect:quality, control, etc.

  • I know you can prerecord loops, but imho it seems to difficult to use.

Is this possible to use RC-50 with FCB1010 for example? (how)

So I would be able assign different loops/phrases (prerecorded) to this midicontroller from 1 to 10 and play them like I want.

Not just phrases 1-3 from RC. THanks

  • sickkkkkkkkkkk

  • Nice mood and structure. Until You take the el. guit. It`s too funky and hard for the song. But thanx for inspiration.

  • That's really sick, makes me wanna get it. Too bad it's 500 dollars

  • get the RC-2. Much less expensive, just less snaz

  • Thanks for the tip on the Ayers. Is it a nylon string model you're using? I really like the sound you're getting out of it.

    thanks

  • No, they're not nylon. But it does have a flatter fingerboard and wide spacing, almost like a classical.

  • lol

  • nice vid but you need a hair cut

  • I had one that morning!

  • Hey man,

That's really nice. A couple of questions-- what type of guitar are you playing? It's the acoustic I'm interested in. What strings do you have on it?

What set up are you using to get such nice tone out of it?

    Thanks and keep posting.

  • It's an Ayers guitar with 13s on it. Straight into the pedal then out to a mixer amp. Thanks

  • Nice vid man. I've been looking at the RC-50 for some time now, and I guess it's time to buy it soon :D

  • Very cool! Just got one yesterday and came up with what I posted as a "video response". How long did it take you to get this proficient with it? Cheers man.

  • I'd not had it long when I did this one. The basics of the pedal aren't hard to grasp, as you now know. It's the development of the musical ideas that I find more time consuming. Enjoy your pedal! Cheers

  • I really like it when the bass kicks in :D

  • BOAH! very very nice :-)!

  • Big cheers again Rob....Awsome!

  • Hi Robert,

i like u solo jam! The Giutars and the DX7 iss so cool played from you.

PS: thanx 4 u add by myspace;)

  • you're fucking bad ass man!!!!

  • very nice version... well done keep posting more !

  • Really creative man! Thumbs up! It seems there's some pretty funny things that can happen with that rc50!

  • Of course I'll allow you. Thanks for your comment. I like playing with other people too. I view these solo performances as a different type of musical experience.

  • Sounds excellent, but in my opinion (if you allow me) I'd rather have people playing alive.

    Thank you

  • Well...

The guy looks pretty alive to me!!

  • Ha ha! I like it.

  • Ive got one and I cut n Slice beatles records on it and it automatically finds the correct tempo for u aswell brilliant piece of kit, get one now.

  • Digging the jams. I read an earlier comment, why don't you use any of the built in drums? I personally love Simple Beat 5 and use it all the time.

  • Thanks! I don't think there's anything wrong with the built in drums. I just prefer to use sounds I've made.

  • Ahhhhh the DX7.... Bliss!

  • that was fuckin awsome. how much those pedals go for

  • Bravo!

  • Great stuff - you are very talented. Thnx for sharing.

  • i really want one of these now

  • nice video!!does the boss rc50 have a drum machine or drums patterns built in?? thank you.

  • Thanks.

Yes, it has some drum loops built in, but I don't use them.

  • i dig it.

  • hey man awesome vid!! i just got one of these pedals and just had a quick question; are you using the quantize function (i.e did u haveto tap in the tempo before playing this) or are you just very good with your feet/timing??

    thanks heaps, Nick

  • Hi Nick, thanks.

The length of your loop is determined the first time you start and stop recording. Thereafter, you can drop in and out as and when you please.

  • Great, i have a question: how did you connected micro, guitars, bass and synth at the same time, with only one mic input and one main input.?

  • It has two instrument inputs: L & R. One for synth, one for guitar. Then for the bass I used the same cable as the guitar, muting it with my tuner while I did the swap.

  • thanks for sharing.

  • Fantastic vid. How highly do you recommend the looper? Have you tried any others to compare it to? Cheers from Sunderland

  • Hi. I haven't tried others, but I'm not aware of any serious rivals to this pedal. It is very versatile. Thanks for your comment.

  • i love the cajon, it's like a kit in a box. this whole jam was really nice! don't listen to the critics, it's up to you to decide what is, or isn't out of place...

  • Thank you.

  • so fucking fresh. seeing you live along with mary jane would be so good.

  • Man...I'm fed up of being in bands...putting up with so much bull shit from your band mates!!...this is the solution! become a one man band with all those new loop stations out there!...but on the other hand dealing with a band situation teaches you to be a communicator...appart from being a musician!...but mate...this look fun! Well done dude!

  • Ha ha! Fortunately for me, I'm in a band where everyone gets on fine and there's no bullshit. Keep looking man, they're out there somewhere...

  • oh man, nice ending dude!!!

  • Jajaja.. amazing; a little bit lonely.. but nice. It reminded me the jams of Pastorius.

Where are you from? how do you know Cajón? (It's a peruvian instrument).

    Greetings from Chile

    Congratulations!

  • Hi. I'm from Northampton, England. Nice to meet you. I know a few drummers in this town who use the cajon. It's a great instrument.

    Best wishes, Rob

  • ..sounds great, but looks lonely

  • Nice electric guitar work- but it is out of place for the texture of that song. Keep it smooth.

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • c'est vraiment excellent !! bonne continuation .

  • Merci bien!

  • i just got an rc-50 myself. It's addicting. great playing!

  • love it!

  • That was pretty impressive, but I have to agree with 'buchan44'.

    Don't cut it off!

  • DUDE! You cut it off when it was just about be fucking really get some steam!

    Impressive man! You're really talented.

  • A bit long for me, it takes like 3min to start without a break, just overdubbing loops ...

The last 30 seconds are fine !

  • Very cool! I've posted a video response of me having a pop at it, thoughts?

  • I don't understand how you achieved having all those instrument inputs...4 or 5?! I can only manage to see three separate lines in on the rc 50... Did I miss something?

  • I pulled the cable out of the acoustic guitar and put it in the bass. The keyboard has the other input. The cajon is mic'd up so it goes in the mic input. The electric guitar doesn't go through the RC50. I hope this clears up the mystery. Thanks, Robert

  • You deserve my 5 stars. Amazing music.

  • fantastique blow me away 5 stars....peace

  • very cool indeed !!

I was looking for some examples of the RC-50 in action !!

This one should be the official demonstration video !

  • Love the bass line

  • wow man, now that was some awesome stuff.

  • My god that was sweet... The electric guitar and bass stuff particularly... Five stars.

  • awesome, man! i tried messing with a looper for a while and just stopped because i don't have the patience. good job.

  • Five Stars Man!!!

  • first class job... no doubt about it...

  • now i want to buy that.. Boss RC-50 thing..

  • when acoustic goes to techno...haha... nice vid

  • that was fricken sweet. wish i had those skillz :)

  • Wow!! fucking great!!! Awesome man!!

  • Nice playing and looping. Keller Williams incorporates this in his performances as well, or is it a different piece of machinery?

  • same functionality, different device

  • great!!!

  • this is what i want to do with the rest of my life.... love it.

  • same with me man

  • good job man!! inspirational!

  • how many input jacks does it have?it seems like you plugged a lot of instruments already.

  • Hi. It has stereo instrument inputs, a mic input, and an aux in too. Check the Boss site for full I/O specs. Cheers

  • Hi Robert very nice performance. I like the style too. Visit my channel.

    Ciccio Loop, (another one-man-jam)

  • very well done!...its rare that i sit thru a whole youtube vid...but i did on this one....thanks

  • Hi Robert. I think that by watching your video you solved a question I had. As it has stereo inputs I can plug more than one instrument, right? That's my beef with my RC-20xl. Thanks man. And nice looping Jam!!!!

  • Thank you. Yes, it has two instrument inputs (left and right) plus an XLR in for the mic. (There's also an aux in; check the Boss website for full I/O specs.) I use only one of the stereo outs so I get a mono output and all my instruments come out of both speakers. Great piece of kit! I love it.

  • You could also use a mixing desk with the RC-20xl if you wanted to... You could plug the looper into the fx-send of the mixer and then have many different instruments if you dont want to pay the extra cost of the rc-50...

  • Felt like I should have been chillin out @ Cafe Del Mar in Ibiza after a rager. Absolutely loved it. You make it look so easy and it's so obvious your lovin' it too. When's your CD come out?

  • Hi there. Thanks. I'll be doing a DVD of this stuff next year, but I already have some CDs out with my songs on them. Please have a look at my myspace (robertbray) to hear more.

  • Nice job.

  • cooool

  • Whoo, you are on fire boy! Likin' your vibes man.

    Love Rach

    (your faithful student!)

    xxx

  • Thanks Rachael x

  • Pretty funky Rob! What sound did you use on the Keyboard and how much is the Boss RC-50 Loop Station?

    Best Wishes,

    Joey!

  • Thanks Joey. The DX7 was on E. Organ, then Koto, then Clav. The RC-50 is available at various prices; I suggest you Google it.

    Thanks, Rob

  • Thanks Rob. Hope to see you and Sarah soon.
