Don't post asinine comments and bullshiting statements if you have no idea : it doesn't exist an helmet that saves you when you hit a concrete block on a 89 / 90 km/h descent ....!!
R.I.P - Fabio Casartelli (16 August 1970 – 18 July 1995) was an Italian cyclist and an Olympic gold medalist who died in a crash on the descent of the Col de Portet d'Aspet, France, during the 15th stage of the 1995 Tour de France. He was born in Como, Italy.
Dude no one wore a helmet at that time.....after Fabio the UCI forced the riders to wear one.....not that it would have helped......just like an airbag wont help a racedriver....are you gonna call them stupid too?
Every cyclist knows how dangerous it is when they go over the top of a mountain, they dont need smartasses to tell them they are or were stupid.
In wellow it's Dante Rezze, he only had a trauma of the left thigh!
If you look in the first seconds: 0:06 Fabio is the one with the black short who don't move when camera move.... ou 0:12 man with arm raised walking toward him

i was 23 in 95...and i recall this like yesterday..i know this sparked the helmet controversy and now thankfully all riders must wear them..but when your comming off a mountian at 100 KM and there are not rail's but square blocks to stop you...i dont know that the helmet would have saved him..i wonder what would have happend if he had lived..i know he left a daughter and wife behind..i just think this goes to show the dangers as cyclist we all face..it could happen to any of us at any given time
I may not like this sport. I may not have cried 3 hours before, and yet... I think he didn't deserve to die so young. He could have won the tour de france with ease...
I feel so sorry for him, his family, and his friends.
I wasn't even 1 year old. My parents said I cried loudly for thre e hours solid before the news was heard, I was only a tiny baby and already what was to be my sport and my life showed how much it can cost you.
Tak skal du have. Jamen jeg satte såmænd bare videoen til dengang de sendte det, og så har jeg lagt det ud som stadig var af nogenlunde kvalitet, efter mange år på loftet.

I was 10 years old back then. I was shouting to the adults that a rider had been killed. NOONE believed me :/ They did not even come to check.

Ja, det var en meget tragisk hændelse. Han var jo ret ung, og tilsyneladene meget populær blandt de andre ryttere.
