When you say "better", i take you're talking about terror, i don't think its comparable. Biohazard is a survival horror, it's meant to stress you into thinking you have little means to face and escape an imense evil. That's why in the classics there's little ammo, storage and even saves! SH is deeper, focusing in the psyche. You're meant to face a terror that is omnipresent and that may appear any time taking any form. It's about facing what is not understandable making it that much creepier.

Fat people have more skin, which means more pours, which means more areas for bacteria and dirt to reside. More sweat, more mass. Overweight is not attractive. Nothing about being fat is nice.

The two are (or were) equal rivals in the horror genre. Resident Evil helped create the survival horror genre as we know it today. It garners it's fear from the "HOLY CRAP KILL IT" factor. Silent Hill helped create the psychological horror genre, as it gains terror with the "That's demented, but what does it mean?" feeling. Both are giants.

I used to love resident evil, me and my freinds would play it all the time-run around, pretend to shoot zombie, memories. But resident evil whored itself out and the americans are doing the same to SH, Such an insult to two fantastic, genre breaking games that deserve to be preserverd or at least very well controlled to insure the very best ideas and directing go into future movie/games.
silent hill is cool they beated resident evil because silent hills story is monsters and ghost things and resident evil is zombie and creepy slimy creatures silent hill the best woohoo
i love both games but Silent Hill is just pure fear and terror it was meant to scare the hell out of you and Resident evil is just fighting zombies sure it had a few parts to scare you but Silent Hill is made to scare you and make you wet yourself

@MercenaryLeon3 Resident evil remake was an extremely terrifying game and was completely built around terror rather than action, 4 was also fairly scary but built more around action, and 5 was entirely action oriented. I haven't played 2 and 3 but I know those are more survival horror rather than action games. Resident evil is basically split between survival horror and action imo.

According to the SH wiki, closers are a manifestation of Alessa's memories of being abused by her mother.
It appears that their (possible?) metaphor has been updated, but I wanted to mention that they share physical characteristics with the mandarins in 2.
On a side note, I like both 2 and 3. 2 had great story and 3 was the first one I played and it got me interested.
