  • too many steps!

  • How much does the mint sculpt cost?

  • I wish Mizani and Kerastase comes out with a hair files!...lol Redken products stay doing there thing!

  • What annoys me is a lot of people aren't aware that the number on the product indicates the hold, so before you people start bashing these products, do some research and realize that there are options for pretty much every type of hair.

  • wait can u only use these products wen your hair is wet can u use without having to wash your hair

  • @SuperAqueen To help create straight styles on coarse hair apply power tame 16 to towel-dried hair (for fine hair, apply sheer straight 06). To add shine and flatten frizz, apply glass 01 to towel-dried hair as well. After you blow-dry your hair, apply iron silk 07 to protect hair from heat damage. Lastly, apply Real Control Mineral Elixir to lock in moisture and add shine. For more information and product recommends, visit redken.com

  • @Redken lol that's exacltly what you said in the video

  • i think that girl looked just as pretty with curls!!

  • so can you guys do any vids without all your products. Like not marketing your product and just showing us how to do it without all the fancy expensive creams and sprays?

  • @minimegamoviemaker well this is redkens channel... not like this is the only place on the internet to get instructions

  • @minimegamoviemaker no because the whole point of it is to sell you products... you're better off finding an individual who does hair tutorials to get a better idea

  • Some stylists take such a shortcut (pun intended) ... they're too lazy and cowardly to deal with anything but their own type of hair (straight), so they ignore other types, or worse, demonize non-straight hair. Meanwhile, many ppl with straight hair are doing anything to make it wavy or curly. These stylists could make more money if they catered to those people too.

  • @CheezInspector You're totally right. A lot of stylists these days only cater to services which are easy to make money off of, but this isn't the case with straightening hair. Straightening hair is a very long and tedious process even for a stylist, but it is very popular because this is the look. I have had so many clients come in asking to be taken straight. I have one client who comes in who loves her curls and I accent them with Redken's great products.

  • @kandikorn, while it's true that there are people who request straightened hair, there are many "curlies" who have horror stories about stylists attempting to cut their hair and failing miserably because they haven't learned how to deal with it. I have many such stories. And Redkin works for some people, but the line generally doesn't work well for people with curly hair. That's the other thing: Redkin is not formulated to include curly hair.

  • @CheezInspector The average cosmetologist has to pass a state board examination. The scary thing is that you can pass it if you get a 75%. This means there are people working on your hair who have gotten a C on their license exam. Redken's educational system requires students to obtain an 85% or higher, so students from Redken are given the knowledge to succeed and manage hair properly. I'm not impying other stylists can't, only that it is a reason some stylists cannot.

  • @kandikorn, cosmetology school was an absolute and complete joke. We can both agree on that. Anyone who didn't get at least 98% in all modalities, drunk, is a complete moron IMO. The bar is extremely low at these schools. If Redkin claims a whopping ten point lead, so what? The Black/Latina ppl were owned the White instructors re: curly hair because just about all these schools are so Eurocentric and overly-focused on White hair care, at the great expense of curly hair. Redkin is no exception.

  • @kandikorn, correction: I meant the Black/Latina students owned the White instructors when it came to knowledge about curly hair.

  • @CheezInspector You have no idea what you're talking about. You can't even spell Redken properly. Maybe YOUR cosmetology school was a joke, because you obviously don't know anything about products or hair the way you're talking. I never "throw products" at my guest. If my guest is going home without a product that they need to style their hair the way I style it, I'm not doing my job correctly. My name is on their head and on top of that, I want them to look their best.

  • @CheezInspector wow how dumb are you

first off, learn how to spell a product if you're gonna talk about it and act like you know ANYTHING about it

and two, that's a very racist thing to say because I go to a white girl at a Redken salon and she flat irons my hair better than anyone else ever has and that's why I keep going back to her

my hair's always softer and smoother when I leave and it was breaking before I started to visit her

as a middle aged black business woman my hair has to be perfect

  • @plasticproductions, that's called a "typo" you genius, and it happens when you've been writing miles worth of text ... And no, what I said isn't racist. It's based on cultural trends. People with Latino/Black heritages tend to have curly hair, so they tend to understand curly hair, in general. I never said there weren't a few exceptions, like the person at Redken you claim does a better job. Btw, it's not "middle aged", it's "middle-aged". And you forgot to use periods you old hag ;)

  • @CheezInspector A lot of guests sit in my chair and they complain that their curly hair is frizzy and unmanageable and they just want it straightened. They seem to be afraid of styling their hair anything but straight because when I suggest putting products in their hair, most of the time they feel as if it will make their hair greasy or waxy and while I do my best to convince them, they still end up wanting their hair straightened. Believe me, I try.

  • @kandikorn, yes, some feel overwhelmed by their curly tresses. But if stylists were more knowledgeable about curly hair care, they'd have a plethora of advice to offer the overwhelmed curly client. Recommending Redkin products is futile. You don't just throw products at an overwhelmed customer. You offer practical curly styling tips. But most stylists are SHAMEFULLY ignorant about curly hair, so they just offer products. How sad considering over 60% of the population has curly hair!

  • @CheezInspector That's not true. Redken has a complete line of products made specifically for curly hair and the few clients I have who want to keep their curl have bought the ones I've recommended and have given me feedback on them that they're working for them. I never force anyone into buying a product. I talk to them about how their hair can benefit from it and what the product does and let them decide. I also teach my guests how to work with their hair to make it do what they want it to.

  • @kandikorn, lol you sound like a shill for the Redkin company. Anyway, however Redkin wants to title their products, I've never met a happy curly customer of Redken products. I'm sure they exist, but not anywhere I've looked. No offense but it's hard to believe you advise your clients how to actually work with their hair when all you said earlier is that you throw products at them. Plus, you are defending this company when they make blatant, silly ,anti-curly vids like this.

  • @CheezInspector If they don't need a product to achieve their look, I don't suggest one. I'm in this business to make people look and feel good about their styles, not to make money. Using products are part of styling hair. Hair will lay the way it does naturally if there is no product in it.

We have two black instructors and are taught to use pressing combs, stove irons, extensions, braiding... most schools DON'T teach ethnic hair styling, you're right, but Redken does.

  • @CheezInspector Just how often do you go look for Redken customers with curls? I'm so sure you hunt them out in droves and that I can completely trust your opinion when I'm the one in the Redken school who sees people using our products on a daily basis.

And anti-curly? Honey, this is a video about how to straighten your hair. There are PLENTY of videos on how to CURL your hair, too, so why don't you go watch those instead of wasting your time here?

  • @CheezInspector lol implying*

  • "Want straight hair?" ... Ahhh, no way. LOVIN' my natural curls!

  • WOW.... way to put insult someone with curly hair. It's rather insulting to me to sayl a person with curly hair has unmanagable. It's not! You just have to LEARN to work with your hair. That much heat is SOOOO bad for the hair no matter what you put on it to "protect" it. Plus if you have coarse hair you're NOT getting a comb through THAT easy. LOL

  • what flat iron did u use????????????????????

  • I am confused. Why does this model need a flat iron?? Understand the blow dryer but a flat iron?? By the way curlly hair is beautiful.

  • wow i cant beleive i actually watched this lawl XD

  • Thanks Redken! Great tutorial...

  • I'm a stylist, your client does not have coarse unmanageable hair. True Beauticians can work with all types of hair .... she can have sleek hair while wearing it curly and/or straight. She just need a more concentrated moisture formula. There are more natural products than whats being used on this video clip.

Have a great day and always put yourself in your salon chair.

  • I would love to see a tutorial on how to achieve the style of the Asian presenter girl. Her hairstyle is AWESOME!

  • ok smartiepants (Shakeitupyes), the salons buy professional products from a distributor that only sells to salons. You are are so negative-some people out there really appreciate lerning how to use these products and techniques. CHILL OUT

  • ok, this was good video, but you need to show a better finshed product. A better pic of the hair is needed when it is done so we can see how it looked when the man did and the woman did it herself. I would have liked to see that

  • FFFFFFFFFFFF

  • I'm sorry, but I prefer Paul Mitchell.

  • Any tips for guys?

  • This guy should try straightening my hair. Then he'd have a real challenge. My hair is soooo curly and when I don't put anything on it, it just looks wrong. Really frizzy and unmanageable. Last time I went to the salon to get a hair cut, the lady asked me when I got my perm. I was like "lady, this is my hair, so curly it looks fake!" lol.

  • This video is just a big, fancy ad

  • Anyone know where I can get Redken products without having to go to a salon? A website maybe?

  • ulta! but not on their website (I think) but pretty sure in their stores

  • Redken products are only sold in salons. They cannot be purchased from authorized retailers on the internet. If you find a Redken product being sold online, it is not authentic and Redken cannot guarantee that it came directly from the manufacturer. Definitely buy your Redken products from your stylist, they will be able to recommend the products that are right for your hair type.

  • I'm just being a smarty pants here but if Redken can't be sold anywhere except in a salon by a stylist then how does the stylist buy it? :P

  • so if I do not have a salon and I want to get these product .. where can I get them?

  • @yolimalouis u can buy at ulta or jcpenny and they always have sales

  • @yolimalouis found it on ebay

  • What, exactly, is so horrible about curly hair? They make it seem like a curse!

  • I know, right? I'm a white teen and have naturally curly hair, and I feel like the only one who likes to keep it that way! It's lower maintenance, and is healthier for my hair as well. And I don't plan on coloring or ironing it anytime soon either. Long live natural hair.

  • @AveSinistra Haha, yeah, they come pretty close to putting it down. Curly can be really beautiful! But if you don't have nice curly hair like the lady in the video, and only have the slightest bit of natural curl, it can look....weird. Like, for example, mine. I only have a tiny bit of natural curl, and it pretty much only shows in the middle, so the top and bottom end up looking odd and flat. :/ So occasionally I straighten it.

  • what kind of flatiron is used in this video?

  • lawl i wish this actually worked for my hair :)

  • 2:00

    lol. moisture isn't an ingredient.

  • HAHA i know... he said protein, i thought, "hmm, vague ingredient," and when he said moisture, i thought, "okay, bs."

and @ 1:18, the interviewee looks hella confused and i bet she meant to say, "so... i have no idea what you just asked."

  • @speshulgurlee Actually, it is. Redken's Chemistry System contains ingredients such as macadamia oil, gold camelina (which contains omega 3's), and glucosamine, all of which will help to add moisture in the hair. They are professionally designed to be used by cosmetologists to help restore your hair's healthiness and maintain it.

  • Where can I find the products mentioned? sorry if you said it in the video, but yeah. I never thought of the techniques descirbed. Thanks! :)
