Spend more time with your metal. My chainmail stops machetes. Your replica can't, trust me I know from swinging a katana at my friend's (Pupil) armor. A good hauberk took me a year to finish. And even then its not strong enough for a mace, crossbow, or gun.

I use 14ga @ 5mmfor Elfweave and 16ga @ 1/4 in. for Kingsmail.

i used big rings the first time i attempted chainmail. u should try taking the arms of and reattach them using a 90 degree sucher

the rings need to be smaller, and it would provide very ample protection, wierd1405 you are a fool. at least Zenku knows how to make this stuff. you're just a troll stfu gtfo. this armor is usually used as a undershirt, for a leather tabard or chestpiece.. and for the first attempt it looks damn good.

smaller rings, zenku.. and maybe a chain coif for your head.
