I graduated from high school that year and was into Rush,Tull,Yes and other progressive bands. Its cool to know that Michael was a fan of Steve Howe and actually met him. His aproach to acoustic was like some strange hippie prog band, yet it managed to take my psyche by storm.
I can't believe what I see. If it's actually 1978, it's probably the oldest video of Michael known to public. And hr already was that good. Million dollar video!
It's a duBourg guitar, and as you say it was stolen from his van after being used on the Breakfast In The Field album. It was returned to him out of the blue over ten years later, so he finally recorded this wonderful piece on The Oracle.
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU so much for uploading this and all the other wonderful videos on your channel!!! It's an absolute joy watching them.
It is so cool to hear these songs as they have transformed, it just flat blows me away, This is a true insight into his song writinfg & arranging! Flat amazing! Thanks!
@rlutge yeah, it's a great story indeed. and i have heard really great things about gryphon. the guitar shop in my city which i spend most of my time in is "Guitar Emporium of Louisville" which is a great guitar shop as well. some big names have bought guitars there.
the guitar did get ripped off, but he got it back! rlutge, check out the "baal t shuvah" video from the artist profile in my list of videos (if you havent seen it already) you'll be amazed at the story he tells after the performance!
@benstewarthelm I always found it interesting that he recieved his guitar that he made Breakfest on the feilds just after On the Road to return, and then releases Oracle before his death. It was like the circle was complete. And then of course is the rebirth in every one who was influenced by him still today and the album Torched
Been watching these videos for two days.Thank you so much.Michael Hedges was a phenom. artist.

@covert. we would have to check that with will. it may have been. i know that it was felt to be a little too close to alex's style for BITF.

Was the original "Song for Alex" ever recorded in studio (other than as "Baal T'shuvah")?
@rlutge I've said it before, but Michael has greatly enriched my life, and I am forever grateful for all your videos!
