  • SPEBSQSA (I think thats the acronym)

    Which stands for:

The Society for the Preservation and Education of Barber Shop Quarter Singing in America. The have a website. I think their convention where they have the competition for world champion quartet is bi-annual.

  • @Raycefan Actually, it's the Barbershop Harmony Society now, and the competition is annual (always has been).

  • Most of the people in these quartets know each other from the Barbershop Harmony Society. If anything they find it fun to sing for/with each other, no competition or 'showing up'. @2Ken99M youre absolutely right

  • This is so cool! :D

  • Filthy! There are very few people whose ears can comprehend what those guys did that day. It's just uh-mazing that they don't get a million hits a day.

  • THE REAL SOLFAMIDAS!!!!!!

  • omg this is cool

  • i think it'd be great if both groups sang together

  • Speechless.... no words can describe that quartet... y'all are beast!!!

  • Looking back, I find that it's necessary to note that this video is how I found out the BHS and all of these fantastic quartets existed. I wouldn't be where I am today if I didn't stumble past this gem. Always great to come back to it. Looking back on my life in a tough time, I'm glad I found this. Thanks to the poster.

  • can you show me their facebook page? i can't find them

  • Spectacular...

    I wanna them in Italy!!!!!!!!

  • Its so nice to see people showing off true talent. Great jobs you guys

  • lololol anyone else hear one of the dapper dans say 'i'm taking my hat off' at the end of this vid? bahahahah

  • If I had been one of the Dans, I would have taken my hat and vest off, handed it to them, and said "ok, you can have my job. I can't possibly sing after that performance." lol

  • Holy Christ....the overtones on the last note....awesome!

  • Does anyone have music sheets to this song?

  • @mikipak123 I do!

  • I LOVED IT =D

  • Another gold medal moment!

  • I Love these guys!!

  • Can you say, "A NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHES!" ?

    Because that's what I said.

  • Wow...How many Disney attorneys do you think were scrambled during the 2:43 it took them to sing that? What if someone had been injured during the singing of that song? It's a real possibility, people. Swooning alone probably increased 10x.

  • Damn. That's an amazing performance for just a little pickup, spir of the moment kind of thing. Sounds really great.

  • I love how at the end the vendor behind them is just like "whoa, what just happened?" Awesome impromptu performance by an awesome quartet - my wife and I were serenaded by the Dapper Dans while we were honeymooning at Disney World - different style than traditional barbershop and wonderful group of guys for people that havn't been singing together for years and years.

  • This was actually the next day (Sunday) AFTER their win the night before...they took all of their families (wives and kids) to Disneyland for the day.

  • No, Crossroads quartet were not the voices of the singing busts in the Disney film The Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy. They were actually five members of the Dapper Dans that performed. Jim Campbell, Shelby Grimm, Bob Hartley, Bill Lewis, and Tim Reeder.

  • "oh my god" is right.

  • LOVE IT!!!!!

  • Another thing, for me, that makes this even cooler is the fact that these guys are wearing tshirts. Is that weird? It makes it all the more impressive, not being all fancy in matching suits- just walking up and just laying it down...

  • I watch this often. It makes me smile. I am impressed by the harmonies EVERY TIME I HEAR IT. I can't believe I am not sick of this yet!

  • That's barbershop alright, who would have thought 4 voices can make music like that? :D

  • wow, now how cool would it be to stumble upon these guys singing like that on your trip to disneyland. they're amazing!

  • Indeed :D

  • Oh yeah, these guys went on to become the 2009 International Quartet Champions.

  • I the first couple frames, on the right, you can see Pat Claypool and Shawn York who are two members of the 2008 International Quartet Champion, OC Times.

  • "These guys still are very good"? Go to 2009 International Quartet Champions, to be more specific "Lucky Old Sun," for the greatest quartet performance I have ever witnessed.

  • True, true to be completley honest, they´re one of

the best i´ve heard! Just like ''The suntones''

  • Huge fan and have seen them perform in halls arranged for better accoustics but love how they sound in this clip. I appreciate the Dapper Dans for what they are but ....'love them more'......???????

  • @tapnager You're right... It's probably because they voiced the singing busts....

  • Dapper dans: ''Ey wha...? They stole our job!''

LOL XD No i love the dapper dans more but these guys still are very good

  • Gad....can you imagine the Dans..."We have to follow THAT??"

    Awesome!

  • They are not just a barbershop quartet! They are the current international champion quartet!

  • They ARE a Barber shope quartet! ; )

  • WOW there like barber shop cortet

  • Haha, I love the lady who says "Oh my God" at the very end -- so spontaneous and deserved by that performance. I also agree with 2Ken99M... the Dans obviously love barbershop to be doing what they do, so I have to believe they were loving every second of this. There is nothing like hearing that sound, up close...

  • Oh the crowd.. so full of old people... lol. Like me.

  • I was surprised by some comments. This sort of VERY cool encounter is NOT about showing others up...if anything, it is a show of comradship and even homage.

The Dans and Crossroads represent different aspects of the Art, and the best practioners of those aspects clearly respect each other. Wish I'd been there, and wish I could see many things like this.

  • Champions!

  • pwned

  • haha too rite

  • brandon guyton is just sick - i'd love to sing with that guy

  • y is Jim Henery there from The Gas House Gang?

  • Was that a question 'why?'

GHG Baritone Rob Henry--Jim's older brother--passed away from cancer in 2003. Other generous, and equally excellent Baris filled in to help the surviving three members fulfill what commitments they had made, after which GHG disbanded. Crossroads is Dr. Henry's new, competing quartet, one that is a heavy favorite to win this July...Of course, they'll be up against another former GHG member: Tenor Kip Buckner now sings with Old School, another heavy favorite to win!

  • oh i wish i could hear the GHG sing together one more time... no one can beat them

  • damn. the "there's room in the nest" line is so beautiful. oh man.

  • wow what are the chances? Shawn York and Patrick Claypool of OC Times are standing over there right next to Brandon. Haha wow :)

  • What a ring at the end! Gave me goosebumps!

  • this is amazing, i miss florida and what i would give to go on a day like this too see such heroes in action :)

  • This is stunning!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Henry and Slamka...and they came second??

to Oxley and DeRosa...now that would be a quartet wouldnt it?

  • They came second to OC Times, not Max Q.

  • The Dapper Dans just got PWNED

  • They're gonna do quite well in Anaheim if this performance is any indication... great stuff!

  • THIS GAME'S WINNER IS...

  • Crossroads: "FALCON PUNCH!"

    Dapper Dans: "NnnnnrrrrrrAAAAUUURRRGHHH!!"

    Brawl Announcer: "TIME!"

  • GAME SET!

  • "Falcon Kick!"

  • haha...that is awesome!

  • Amazing! Thanks for posting!

  • One word...owned :)

  • what would happen if once you win a gold medal you can never compete at the internetional level again Wouldnt that really encourage others to try & compete

  • This might be my favorite tune and quartet ever!! Close race between them and Vocal Spectrum and Gas House Gang...hm...something in common here.

  • The presence of Jim Henry in some manner???

  • Good point, he's been involved somehow in all of the best quartets.

  • Yeah, the man has influenced an astounding number of barbershoppers (esp. basses, I'm one). He coached VS, GHG is probably one of the most loved quartets of all time. A man (whom I've had the pleasure to meet) with a passion for barbershop, a great vocal range, and is an really nice person-can't beat that.

  • incredible!

  • OVERTONES!!!

  • awsome!
