  • I love this

  • Don't listen to this when high. You'll go paranoid xD

  • que locura xDDD

  • Oh my gosh. The noises from 1:18 getting louder and louder always scare the shit out of me.

  • ah mazing, old world techno

  • ARARI CREYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!xD xD xD

  • This is what it must sound like to live in the mind of a nutcase lol

  • I Think that if you listen to pink floyd and eat mushrooms non-stop for 1 year, and you still live. Then this song makes sense!

  • Da fehlt der gesamte erste Teil mit dem lieblich ruhigen Gitarren-Stück. Das zerstört die gesamte Dramaturgie des Stückes.

  • We must be a pretty weird bunch to listen to this,me included! and the Wind Cried Mary. What respect from one great legend to another to eh?

  • and the wind cried mary

  • I LIKE THE STOMPING SOUNDS AT AROUND 0:30 AND THE ANIMAL NOISES BUT WHEN THAT VOICE SAYS "COMBA AH-HEE!" GETTING LOUDER THATS CREEPY AND BACKWARDS

  • this FUCKING SUCKED, FUCK!!

  • What does the Pict say?

  • @caviper1

I can just about make out "Thank you" at 4.50!

  • Holy Fuck, I HAVE to listen to this high!! I bet I would be surrounded by animals and it would be too cool! I wish I was young in the proper generation dammit!!

  • This is amazing, but srly scary.

  • Yes - it would be recognisable to anyone reading these comments.

  • It's a shame we can't slow down CDs like we could LPs.

This is excellent (as is much of the early Pink Floyd) at half speed.

My Goldring GL75 (?) record deck could play back at any speed from less than 15 rpm to over 80 rpm using conical shaft.

  • @RobEmbleton so what have you got after you played it back? is there a message?

  • Jartísimo. Matiz.

  • the psychedelia is in the name of the song.

  • I used to take mushrooms and listen to this when i was in my youth....lol still weird as fook now 23 years later....lol

  • This tune is so entertaining. I'd invite the whole crew in the cave to

join in me on my song, "the gifts of life" in my youtube channel "Zazzaret1" I have recently loved listening to the Umaguma 2 Glanchester Meadows.

  • try this when u high

  • ALL FURRY CREATURES SHOULD LIVE TOGETHER IN HARMONY GROOVING IN CAVES WITHOUT HAVING TO WORK OR ANYTHING

  • This may well be the longest song title of any....try putting it on your MP3 player without shortening the title!

  • RIP TODD.....FINALLY AT REST........

  • Many animal noises!

  • This reminds me of revolution #9 by the beatles.

  • the beggining of this song reminds me of On The Run.

  • SHIT I FOUND IT I'M SO EXCITED I LOVE THIS SONG TO DEATH!!!

  • best name

  • they r high

  • do shrooms on this song :)

    have a good time !

  • I love PinkFloyd !

I ear many many time "I'm down Hashish" in this song

  • Roger invented techno.

  • @charadeyouareha so thats where it originated , spot on observation lol

  • so wat does syd say? anybody know?

  • I always listen for the angry ducks in Syds songs. I think they are the denizens of a bad trip.

  • what did he say?

  • @fffloyd81 he repeats many time : I'm down hashish .

    listen it very attentivly....

  • My Dad always tells me how his older brother locked him in a room with this playing when he was about 6 and he shit himself hahaha.

  • @CaseyCain85 HAH! I lol'd, best youtube story yet xD

  • @mattypotato15 some of their stuff reminds me of this song particularly

  • @mattypotato15 check out Battles then.. you'll probably like them.

  • When i was a kid my brother would put this on to frighten the living daylights out of me, all on a dansette record player so he could get his way with the girlfriend of the week.

  • i feel like tripping on acid.....

  • @camilo14bmx That's not a surprise - Pink Floyd had a period when they made things while being high.

  • If you like this, try some Relics - (little older) I missed Sid Barrett but his passing was indeed the sstart of Floyd's successful run!!

  • @shoesvw he didn't die...just became schizo due to the fact that he did so much acid so they had no choice but get rid of him. He died about six years ago

  • Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a pict - anyone know what a pict is ?

It is a proper English gentleman (been a Floyd fan for 35 years)

  • @shoesvw

    or it could be this

The Picts were a group of Late Iron Age and Early Mediaeval people living in what is now eastern and northern Scotland.[1] They are recorded from before the Roman conquest of Britain until the 10th century, when they merged with the Gaels

    English? Hardly....

  • O.O

  • goddamn this is some trippy shit...

  • No Highlanders were harmed in the lunging of The Claymore???

  • wow that had to be the greatest solo ive ever heard

  • microdot anyone

  • And the wind cried Mary

  • Gathering together, the woodland creatures drank their preferred brew and fell into trance as an eclipse gripped the sky and life itself. Dancing to their own souls rhythmic song that laces the forest with their enchanting melodies, the forest becomes one, all moving on the same path, traveling the universe to find new experiences to be had, and new places to host the echos of their music.

This song always tripped me out lol.

  • Perfect for jamming Southern Baptist tent revivals -- PLAY IT REAL LOUD!!!!

  • @bsc1086

Baptists make those noises anyway, no need for this track

  • Ultimate Halloween music...freaking out 'trick or treaters' since 1973 at my house

  • always found this rather good, original and different,,,,, one real mother-fucker of a tune.... cool as fuck dudes.

  • This needs to be uploaded backwards.

  • Far out man!

  • Mad fan as I am of the Floyd, even I don't think Ummagumma's studio album is any damned good. It's TOO out there. Amazing that this is the least strange track on that whole LP.

  • This song make me crazy ....

    But with acid, WAW !

  • It's a good song!!

  • was blowing on a bong and sniffing amyil nitrate and my mate put this on full blast !!! fucking blew me away !!!!! lol

  • Now folks let me tell you that no animals were hurt and no one was doing drugs in the making of this song.....

  • WHO EVER KNOWS THIS IS A FRIEND OF MIND HAD GREAT NIGHTS LISTINING 2 THIS IF U KNOW WHAT I MEAN ?

  • i need some mushrooms!

  • Pikmins doing sex

  • Excellent!!! Thanks 4 upload! ;)

  • i had a small animal chewing on my marshall cord, my roommate passed out laying on the cord, being shocked by it , my girl screaming and me babblin trying to make sense of if it all ,sound just like that.

  • HOLY MOTHER OF NEPTUNE!!!!!! IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CHIPMUNKS TRIPPING HARD ON SOME BLOTTER ACID!!! l LOL!!!! AND THEN SOME DRUNKEN IRISHMAN RANTING ABOUT WHO-KNOWS-WHAT!! IF I STILL DID ACID I WOULD WANT TO LISTEN TO THIS IN A CONSTANT LOOP FOR ABOUT SIX OR SEVEN HOURS.....

  • pink floyd got thier shit together on atom heart mother and all the albums after ......this early stuff is pure crap

  • @MultiSres Wrong!

  • @MultiSres you're stupid

  • This song is gross...

  • @DougieSmoozer weirdo

  • Makes you smile every time.

  • HAUMBAH----- HAOOOOOOOOOOO, HAUMBAH-------HAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, HAUMBAH---HAOOOOOOOOOOO

  • gives me chills & im not even high

  • Perfect title for the perfect song...thanks for posting!

  • Nobody has done that in the past and nobody will do it in a forseable future !!!

Pink Floyd is the only one who took the risk of doing it and i am more than greatfull !!!

Creativity is dead nowadays! It is only copies or remakes of what has been done before !!!!

    Thanks to Pink Floyd !

  • my dog enjoys it

  • @TiffanyA1025 our cats too...

  • That was pretty avant-garde, wasn't it?

  • of the thousands of songs i've heard over the years, i can name the titles of a handful. this is one of them. nothing like getting high with friends and saying - listen to this... :)

  • yheaaaa i need a canavis

    jajajajaja

  • ...And the wind cried Mary. Thank you.

  • lol i love this song and i asked my brother what it was called and he said the name and i didnt beleave him

  • Comment removed

  • I thought this song several species of animal gatcered together in a cave and groving with a pict, a pict is an ancient scottish highlander, and I guess the rest is self explanitory

  • This song was actually a social commentary on animal abuse and how society ignores it because they view animals as inferior. That is the reason for all the chipmunk-like sounds throughout.

As for the sound of the person in the video, that is supposed to represent the head of Mars Candy during the 60s, John Wilthrope, who was known for testing his products on animals.

  • Okay, would someone please tell me what the hell he's saying right before And the wind cried Mary.I can understand some of it,but not most of it.Yes, those days in the early 70s,tripping on acid, and listening to this. What memories.

  • @Zeke1950 he's saying "Aye! A roar he cried frae the bottom of his heart that I would nay fall but as dead, dead as 'a can be by his feet; de ya ken?"

    de ya ken?

  • @AliistairG ufft aye mate am well up tae par wae wit yer sayin ;)

  • @AliistairG Thank you my friend. Now if I can just figure out the rest of it.Sounds a bit Scotish.

  • @Zeke1950 I stumbled across a rather good website for song lyrics the other month called sing365

You should be able to find the lyrics there.

  • @AliistairG Thank you again my friend.Your a lifesaver. There are a couple other songs,by different groups, that I can't remember the names of the songs, but I can some of the lyrics.Just maybe I'll also be able to find them there. What can I say,old age has finally caught up with me.Your friend, Zeke

  • @Zeke1950 no worries mate! Yeah, coz I'm only 21, I'm supposedly 'computer literate', whatever the hell that means. Don't stop me from likeing the classics, but. Pink Floyd fans are still alive and well in Australia!

  • Armpits make better noises than mouths.

  • lololol the chorus is in 11/8, i mean the dog noises.

  • this is better than time and comfortably numb

  • @SmurfKiller66 dude...

  • @SmurfKiller66 Pizza is better than chocolate cake...

...They are completely different things and are ridiculous to compare.

  • @Billinois78 i was actually joking -.-

  • I too first heard this album on acid. I thought music had finally reached a new level as my awareness.

  • Genius = Sid Barret

  • @macswanson1 congrats, you managed to misspell both names.

  • I have listened to this albumn more now to try and figure out what I was trying to figure out , when I was trying to figure out what I was trying to figure out.

  • this scared the shit out of me when i was high o_o

  • la razón prima sobre lo demás

  • If you listen closely around 4:52 , you can heard Rogers saying "thank you''

  • Comment removed

  • What a flashback. Thanks!

  • This fucks my dog up every time.

  • @screamwriter1

    Funny

  • @screamwriter1 Maybe it's the time for detox for your dear canine ;)

  • @screamwriter1 glad to find out I'm not the only one that does that for amusment

  • @screamwriter1

Shit it fucks me up everytime. Eyes closed and lights off!

  • @screamwriter1 LOL! My cats look very confused. :)

  • @screamwriter1 "If you think it would, then I guess it should" - Bike by Syd Barret

  • the first time i heard this i was drinking shoom tea and had some crazy visons

  • first time i listened to this i thought id gone crazy!!

  • I messed it up ScootTheCat - I did acid to 'Animals' and was a different person at sunrise. Then I had a relapse with SSoSFAGTiaCaGwaP and turned back into a disgruntled District Manager at Pizza Hut. Life is hard, but harder when you're trippin'...

  • Listen , close your eyes and think of Gollum in his dark wet cold cave..........shiverrr!

  • This is the first time I listen to this song when I'm not stoned. It makes more sense to me being stoned LOL

  • Imagine if you had to take shelter in a cave with a storm outside.

  • @lois228gmail

    in that cave lol

  • around 3:00 it starts sounding like ghosts from luigi's mansion.

  • ditto scoot you should here the original MONO studio version of this whilst tripping your balls off

  • that one repeated obnoxios barking squeel is the single most permanent earworm i have ever experienced.

  • Sense: this song makes none

  • this woulda been good if it were part of a long song like Echoes or A Saucerful of Secrets but lol, they forgot to add the good part.

  • i wonder if this was the 1st song with an overly long title.

  • I first heard this on my old vinyl bout '76/77ish - to this day I am still somewhat disturbed. The repetitive 'Aaoomba - aah - meeeh' with the sinister high-pitched

wailings after 2'16" are actually superseded at 3'42" by Roger's ranting 'pict' !!

The only really listenable track in my opinion is the pastoral Grantchester Meadows.

Thank God we got the live disc with this!!

  • my roommate had my stereo on 78 speed When I got home and played The works I didn't know the speed was wrong... 20 years later thats the way I like IT

  • I played this with Benga - Walkin'Bass and made it dubstep

  • This is the first pink floyd song I ever hered on Uma Guma the record. The next was the sound of bee sound. My cousin cued it up for me. Love Pink Floyd.

  • do we have to kid ourselves and actually like this?

  • where´s the lyrics? xD

  • This is all Roger waters making noises, no actual animals were used in this "song."

  • far out

  • Comment removed

  • Being 15 years old, when this comes on whilst I'm around my friends.. the looks I get. I swear I could simply take a picture of them and enter them into the greatest "WTF" competition there is. "Normal folk" don't understand Pink Floyd apparently.

  • @SJ363 Ditch 'em lol

  • I played this record so much I've been through 3 albums, 2 cassettes and a CD.

  • This is weird. I've heard this before, but this time it's actually sounding quite musical, almost grooving. I am totally sober.

  • This "song" is equalivent to the Beatles "Revolution #9".

  • I have always loved this song. This was the first pink floyd album I ever heard, and it made a hell of an impression on me.

  • Listened it last night xD

Liberation Day we celebrated in the centre of Utrecht in the Netherlands.

Every single one of us was stoned, and i put on this song.

Couldn't have been a better night!

  • The first time I heard this I was sleeping. Before I go to sleep I turn on my itunes and let it play all night and I woke up in the middle of the night, pitch black, and this song was on. I was trippin' balls.

  • @Stiltsman LMAO i'm gonna stamp a t -shirt with your comment
