Glucks' Orphée has some of the best french libretto that one could wish for in an Opera. Orpheus's descent into the underworld is in itself a preparation for an alternate stage and setting and one in which capivates the viewer and listener. All of Gluck's Operas are stoked in history and characters that one would have difficulty replicating today even with the best director's.

Chef : Hans Rosbaud. Orchestre des concerts Lamoureux. 1956. Philips. La perfection! (même sans l'ariette!!!)
