Heath Ledger just stole the show in this movie, nothing against Christian Bale, and surpassed the interpretation of The Joker by Jack Nicholson from 1989's Batman. You're right, Ledger's performance was absolutely stunning.

And if he doesn't get an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor I'll be very surprised.

the new batman films by chris nolan (batman begins and dark knight) are a completely new remaking of the batman series and dont take into account the older ones. Which just became camp and, lets face it, shite by the time 'batman and robin' was made which was terrible and gimicky

I have to say I'm extremely excited for this movie. The first one was excellent and just based on the spot on Joker laugh that Ledger puts on, you can tell he will play an excellent villain. Terrible what happened to him. Also love the guy who plays Alfred.

Although the studio desires the film to be 150 minutes long, Nolan is said to have been unable to cut the film any further. This is quite long for a Batman film. This is even longer than "Batman Begins," which is 140 minutes long. I guess 3 hours is bearable as long as it is good.

I was deeply shocked when I heard that Heath Ledger died today. He was a great actor. He was extremely talented and original in playing complex characters. Hopefully, the Joker will now be remembered as one of Ledger's best perfomances. May he rest in peace.

You're welcome. Screenwriter David Goyer intended to have the Joker scar Harvey Dent in the third film. In the comics, Dent was actually scarred by mob boss Sal Maroni who is listed as a character in The Dark Night. I wonder if Dent becoming Two-Face is the twist in the film. Aaron Eckhart said Dent may show two personalities, but director Christopher Nolan said that's not true. There are a lot of mixed signals, so who knows? Nolan's films are always full of twists.

At first, I didn't see a single image of Harvey Dent/Two-Face (played by Aaron Eckhart), but after further inspection, I noticed that Dent is sitting across the table from Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) at 1:21. You could see this better on the high definition trailer fromt the official site.

Batman Begins was a reboot of the Batman film franchise. It retold the origins of Batman and The Dark Knight is a sequel to it. They have nothing to do with the previous films (Burton/Schumacher). After Batman & Robin did terribly, Warner Brothers tried for a long time to make another Batman movie, but nothing happened. They finally hired Christopher Nolan to make Batman Begins. In my opinion, Nolan's films are much better than the earlier ones.
