Blocking bet is used when first to act and it reduces the chances that your opponent will bluff at you - as they might if you jst checked it to them. Marquis called a pre-flop raise, which meant he had a pocket, or at least K high/Face cards. If Tiffany checked at the turn/river, Marquis could assume that she didn't have anything, and she could re-raise Marquis raise after the river with two pair AJ.

Marquis was incorrect to not bet on the flop, but he was trying to force Tiffany to bet first. Poker is patience.

What I've been told is that PokerStars make money from pots. So they want to keep the pots as big as possible to gain more. All the noobs tend to overplay the rockets (A-A), they like think they have the nuts, so they slowplay it, but PokerStars is rigged, so Aces will often loose to almost everything. (also str8) The noob will alot of chips if not all. Big pots = more income for PS.
