  • When you say first jump do you mean "real" jump (like at a canter)? Most people learn their first jump in a trot.

  • trying to be nice but i dont think you should start off by cantering the jump

  • Tht was really good for ur first jumpin lesson. Much better. Then my first time haha. :). Well done

  • I agree with you, your last jump was amazing (: I have just started jumping(: loooove it! xxx

  • Is this Castlewood Stables? I tried riding there because it was closer than my old stable but i wasnt happy with the trainer. Good Jump btw :)

  • thats amazing for your first time jumping

  • Looooove (: I haven't jumped yet but I can't wait till I do :L my instructor said it won't be long :LL can't wait! xx

  • great job for the first time jumping

  • @Delly33 it's ok that Prince died! I know that u are gonna miss him! But I feel the same way u do my riding horse Charlie died of a blood clot near his brain! I still cry even today if I still think about him! He was 18 years old! R.I.P Prince and Charlie!

  • I think you did amazing for your first time! ( I realize that this was four years ago) and whoever said that you need to go into a bigger two point is wrong. That is such a tiny jump that it dosent even matter. You got off his back and moved with him and thats all that matters. (: good job

  • YOU DID GOOD ON YOUR FIRST JUMP LESSON.

  • Your really good for a first time jumper i wasnt even that good!

  • Heyyy! Thats looks pretty good for your first jumping lesson! :) i've only been riding for 2 years. I hope i'll be as good as you after i've been riding for a bit longer! :P

    P.S I'm sorry Prince died. :(

  • For a first jump...fantastic! Jumping is just one of those things that you get better at by practicing because when people just tell you things you can't understand how they improve your jumping. Also, actually jumping is sooooo much more fun than reading about it. If you want to improve, keep going! You have a great start!

  • Wow my first jump was so much lamer lol

  • the last jump was really good :) cute horse

  • well done good for first time jumping sorry that the horse died though xxx

  • that was good for your first time jumping! i almost fell my first time!

  • well that was really really good for a first time jumping....

    some tips:

get into a bigger 2 point

when ur landing, try not to yank on ur horses neck

    but great job!

  • Well like your instructor said heels, the second jump you seem to be left behind in the movement, the last one is very nice, and good job on keeping him cantering after the first jump.

  • what a lovely horse <3 xxx

  • what a lovely horse <3 xx

  • It's interesting that she started you on a vertical as most people start on a cross rail. I would love to see some of your recent riding and jumping since this was almost 4 years ago.

  • wow amazing but I am not sure it is your first timme

  • Sad Sad news Prince is no longer with us RIP babe you were loved soooo much :( xxxxx

  • @Delly33 im sorry how did he die.......a prince at my barn just died this week from being in so much pain and he had a colic and couldnt stand the pain anymore and they had to put him to sleep....i love that horse sooo much R.I.P prince i love you!

  • @Delly33 how did he die? :( old age???? poor baby. good job though and he is VERY handsome. I hope he had fun with you

  • Great!!!

  • wow, cute pomy

  • realy good ;)

  • Good job! I had my first jumping lesson not even a year after I started riding!

  • You look good for your first jumping lesson! just dont lean back when your comming out of the jjump

  • Really good! It's hard to beleive that was your first time! the first jump was a little shaky I think you came out of 2-point just a little too early but other wise amazing!

  • nice!!!! that was good! wat helps is counting strides out loud so ur ready for the fence! but otherwise for a first jumping lesson that deserves a =D!

  • wow, that was awesome ^_^

  • Hey super good! wtg on ur first lesson

  • Great Job :)

  • That's brilliant for your first jumping lesson (: I jumped for the first time last year, had no balance, lost my stirrups after every jump and ended up on the pony's neck - if I was lucky! But this year I've started riding bigger ponies and I've been riding a young pony who was only broken in last year, and we've been learning how to jump together :)

  • wow

  • First time jumpinng you look like you have been jumping for years :)

  • goood job i cant jump i get to scared its not 4 me

  • iv been jumping for 13 years so... yeah great jump

  • haha i've been jumping since march of this year, i believe. how high are you jumping now?

  • In 2 weeks im going to learn how to jump on a huge horse!

  • haha i just had my first jumping lesson a couple weeks ago but it was on this pony who has gaits like 5 times faster than the other horses so it was a bit difficult. it seemed like such a big jump wiht my little pony and his afro

  • AWSOME!! haha i had my first jumping LESSON like i always do it for fun by myself like little cavalettis but my first jumping lesson was today and i cantered into them!! i was so proud because the pony i was riding was REALY hard to canter.. and he HATES reign contact so but yea.. i go to the barn like all day everyday so haha i am exited for tomorrow.. AGAIN GREAT!!!!

  • welldone for a first time i mean awsome better than me in my first horses ridign lesson we were jumping bars on the ground that were off the jumpds trotting poloesi think there called we trptted over them adn well i didnt go so great leo jumped over not really he stepped over

  • well done for ur first jumping lesson that was great!

  • Looks pretty :3

I'm not that good with jumping too, but everyone starts small with everything ^^

  • nice job! You have a very nice canter!

  • bouncyyy lol ur horse is funny

  • Wow! First jump ?

    Looks like your 20th LOL!

I'm still not able to look like that and I've been jumping for... 4 months I think!

    Your REALLY good!

    xX

  • Woooow....THATS YOUR 1ST JUMP ? =O u were way better than me !! I was terrible Lol =D Awesome job!! I think u might get reaallyy good as u get more experianced!! Great job 5 * Keep it up !! =)

  • somebody who was new to our lesson asked our instructor why we were told to trot up to the jump instead of canter. she told us it was to help us with our base while in two point. i'm glad because the only reason why i didn't fall over Tux's (the lesson pony i was riding this lesson) neck when he barreled into the jump and tripped over it. the only reason i didn't go over his neck was because i released properly, kept my heels down and sat up in two-point. silly pony. // nice riding!!

  • Wow! that was realy good for your first lesson on jumping!! well done!!

  • When I first jumped, it was more like a trot over, cause the horse I ride would trot over them, not jump, lol, so I tried a couple times, but in the end I cantered over them, so much fun! lol, nice vid, your better than me : )

  • nice job, ii subbed

  • I started learning jumping as i was learning to canter, because my canter was better when i was concentrating on the jump....its weird,

my teacher called me daredevil child cause i used to fall off so much because i was always stretching myself too far. But i got it in the end, and thankgod the riding school horses were so forgiving to me.

But jumping is soooo much fun, used to scare me but now i love it soo much :-)

  • nice job! i have a vid of my first jump too.

  • good job!! i really want to learn to jump but the arena at the barn i ride at is a bit too small.

  • Comment removed

  • is there a pasture you could ride in?

  • no, the paddocks are all smaller than the arena. the property is small because there's not a lot of room in the area i live in for horses.

  • that was great! Isn't jumping just so much fun? I enjoy it so much! That was a great first lesson.. in my first jumping lesson our group took turns trotting a x rail :))

  • i learned to jump at my third riding lesson :D

  • I learned to jump with my third year or so and only followed one lesson x'D (I feel like a noob <D)

  • ive only just started my canter so i haven't jumped yet

  • i learned to jump before i learned to canter! long before, actually! i think it was better b/c then you can get the feel of jumping just in the trot. then work on cantering and jump in the canter!

  • me 2 actually i am still perfecting trot and jumping =]

  • wow

that is really good 4 a first time lol

  • wow you were so good... i remember my first jumping lesson..... i am 14 now but i have been rding for 7 years or so... but the first time i jumped i was scared hhhhaaaa i as suprised at where i am at now... H/J

  • I rember my first jumping lesson !! it was fun but i was a little nervous ...... the only thing was on my first jumping lesson tha the horse i was riding kept running out fom the jumps at the last linute so wehad to put wing updiagonally on te sides too so if he ran out there wod be a jump there too haha u was verry god considring it was your first time

  • Good job for your first jumping lesson!!!! I agree a bigger 2point!!!! But good for your first time!!!

  • you look good for your first time just go into a bigger 2 point : ) your horse is cute

  • @blujean13 but it was her first time, I ma learning to jump and i can't even do a 2 point

  • @MegaGagamad --- U should know how to do 2 point before u can canter!

  • @kissta98 i can canter though!

  • @MegaGagamad ----> Ya but u should have learned 2 point EVEN bofe u learned to canter!!

  • @kissta98 well my riding teachers say it's fine and i didnt even start talking to you

  • @MegaGagamad - Okaaay then

  • I'm not Jumping yet, but its because at the riding school I go to, they work on Jumping position over trotting poles for about 8 weeks then jump.. My riding instructor says 4 more jumping position lessons and I'll be Jumping ebony over little jumps :D

  • i have only just started jumping too well ive done big ones before but my teacher pushed me too far soo i fell off lol but i landed stood up then the horse dragged me accross the floor so i fell ova lol :D

  • I remember my first jumping lesson! I was SO excited, but I was nerous too. Nice job though!! :)

  • good job, especially the second time!! :D

  • The horse is adorable! But if I had to comment on your riding, I would say, brilliant job on the impulsion but maybe stay in jump position for slightly longer? Although it was only a small jump so not much longer for that height :)

  • Woww, you did awsomee!! Jumping is soo fun, isn't itt?? well, good job, to you and the horse ;p

  • you don't have to keep your feet so far back with them foward a little more you have more control and feel a huge diffrence that's what our instructor tells us we tried a jump both ways and you can feel a diffrence but if that works for you cool well you did really good

  • good job, yeah like everybody else said hands up higher and stay in 2 point longer, but ither than that,GREAT JOB! I wish i could have cantered my first jump, my first jump was at a slow trot over a dinky cross pole about the hight of my ankle!!

  • wow, that is good i wish i was that good my first lesson! But i would recommend bringing your hands farther up on his neck so you don't snap his mouth, other than that you are very good, keep it up!

  • you did a fab job! well done i'm so surprised thats your first time!

  • You did great, especially for your first jumping lesson! All the little things will come along soon, as I'm sure you already know from past experience. =)

  • Guys, (horsechick566, xcrunnerandjumper) this si her first jumping lesson! I believe that you should be nice to her because I'm sure her RIDING INSTRUCTER will tell her all about keeping your heels down, and staying in 2-point longer!

  • stay in 2-point longer!

  • its only her first jumping lesson! shell get better. damn, critics these days!

  • oooo and keep your heels down more

  • great job for your first time!! um all that i would reccomend is to move your hands up on your horses neck so you dont catch him in the mouth.

  • Well Dunn !(D)

  • Wow you did great and I'm not just saying that...wow GREAT JOB!!!

  • first jumping!?! and jumping is your WEAK POINT!?! if i only i could have done that well in my first jumping lesson :(

  • great jumping i shouldnt tell u to lean forwards coz the others already did

  • wow! thats really good for your first time! just lean forward a little on the first but the second was much better! keep it up(: pretty horse!

  • That was good, but u should lean forward a little bit on the jump.

  • on the first one you got left behind and caught your horse in the mouth. try to prepare for the jump, and, if you do get left behind, try your very hardest to give your horse release so you don't catch his mouth. The second one looked great. :]

  • i can't believe that was your first time, you were really good! adorable horse, too.

  • your realy good! i am only jumping 2 feet at the most hahahaha

  • you and that horse look great together! you jumped high for your first jump! :) when i first jumped i only jump about 4 inches ha ha hope you keep jumping up because you've got a talent for it! :)

  • xxXbEtTeRtHaNyOuXxx (haha) said it perfectly. The first jump (no offense) was kind of a mess but you had SO MUCH IMPROVEMENT by the second. looked like a different rider! The first one was bad because you were left behind. That can be fixed by more leg contact. Like I said, the second was really good. GREAT JOB for your first time!

  • OMG! That doesnt look like its ur first time its soooo good! And it's helpful to me i havent got past walking over the pole in my jumping lessons yet . . . XD now I know how to do it sorta

  • jeez you did really good on your first jumping lesson!!! my first jumping lesson...... i was all over the place!!!

  • you did really great! ive just learned to jump! (ive not been riding for long so ive just jumped) ill probly upload it soon. well done thats a nice horse whats he/she called?

  • You did really great for your first jumping lesson. My first jumping lesson, I was all over the poor horses neck. lol

  • Wow i think that was really good for your first tme :)

  • i think you did a great job for your first jumping lesson ! =]

  • That was amazing for your first jumping lesson. If you would like my advise I would suggest going into two point just a little bit more than you do and letting the horse come up to you over the jumps. Also streching your heels down a little but more will really help your balance and getting some weight off of the ball of your foot. Hope I helped :)

  • first time jumping? sure? lolz

  • Just go into your Two-Point when you jump, and you will see much better results. Hope this helps! =)

  • This really sounds like Kay, who used to be my instructer. Where do you ride?

  • hahah ur good! just make sure that wen u are going over the jump to go into a 2-point position more.

  • You are a really good rider! I can't tell from this video- do you use a crest release? That gives your horse their head and it makes it easier for them to jump. You did great for your first jumping lesson!

  • Woah. this is cool you have talent!

Im learning to jump on a Swedish warmblood 18hh about 6yrs old,

  • Wow that was brilliant for your first jumping lesson! When i first started i was terrible! lol

    =)

  • Omg!

    your first riding lesson?!

    Your really good!

  • first JUMPING lesson not first EVA lesson

  • i ment to say that gosh..

    xD

  • SOS TYPIN MISTAKE GET IT ALL DE TIME LOL

  • OMG so god

  • wow! great job! my only advise is to try and stay with your horse over the jump, so you dont end up yanking at his mouth over the jump.

  • aww the pony u were riding is so cute

  • oh wow. i'm about to start jumping after just starting in august and i am scared. it looks really fun though and i cant wait. i really cant wait to see the look on my mom's face when she see's me do the high jumps in a few years (she's afraid of riding and is haunted by the story of superman)

  • someone stole this vid from u

they taped it off the computer and made it blurry and muted it.

go to simonsponygurl new jumping lesson vid and look for riding legend girls comment go to her page and see that vid she stole

  • OMG!

    haha so good!

eekk. i don't think i can wait that long!

  • OMG!

    haha so good!

eekk. i don't think i can wait that long!

  • Hi, First off- if this is your first jumping lesson-- AMAZING! Just work on keeping your heels down low. Try to use your calf and lower thigh- though not your knee- to keep steady. As soon as I got that down pat my legs became glued to horses, and your calf moves them forward.

Also, like someone else said, try to keep your two-point for like a second longer.

    Other than that, great job!!

  • Well done! Your horse is lovely too :)

  • Good, But try and keep your seat, and two-point over the jump, and speeding ticket, but great job! I don't quite know your horse so don't take offense to what I said. :D

  • talk about cutting corners, but i wasnt any better before i did provincial level showing. tres bien! (that means very good!)

  • welldone, glad you were happy with the last jump :)

Just to say, the comment left by "Kaylie436" I do agree with you but only when the fences get bigger, as you can over fold and this lets the horse run off after the jump as you loose the contact. I know every rider is different but what i saw in the video's seems just fine for now :) x

  • You did great! I;m not even close to Jumping yet. I guess it will be a year before I start. Were you really nervous?

  • Its great you are jumping again! what I can say is put your hands up a little higher in twopoint and twopoint a little bit sooner. You are what I call, "not getting up with your horse" that means you are not getting up in twopoint quick enough, so your horse pops you forward and throws you off balance as a result.

  • that was good i now how it feels i just started \(agin) jumping mine was a little higher thaw:0

  • That was really good for you first time.

    well done. xo

  • Hey! That's really good for your first time jumping! I'd advise to go into a two-point a liiiiiiittle sooner instead of asuming your horse will make up for the lost angle so to speak. Great jub, I wish you luck!!

  • kl style xx

  • heyyx nice style xx

  • very good job for the first time I've been riding since I was 6years old ang jumping since I was 8 I'm 17 now and going on jumping for 5years and I've seen kids doing wurse Good job keep up the good work !!!

    Grts

  • at least you're not like me! you look good. ive only gone over one jump in my entire life and i clung to the saddle like a leech X3

    keep going!

  • Wow that looked really good for a first jump, well done, how long have you been riding ?

  • you looked really good the second time around!

  • Well done:D

I cantt Jump to save myy life !! Lol well i can but i ALWAYS fall off lol !

but i maneged to clear a 3ft9 ( i think it was lol ) straigtt in a chase me charlie on my 13.3hh loan:D Yay lol even tho i fell off in the rounds but heyy ! lol

Youu did reallyy well for you 1st jump/jumping lesson lol :D

    Lovee megs:D

    xxxxx.

  • that last one was a good one good job im just starting out jumping to you did good tho

  • that was really good!

here's a little tip-u need to stay in to 2 point a little longer and what i do is grab a little of the horse's mane and it helps so you stay in that position so the horse can jump(don't worry it won't hurt the horse)!!

  • you are really awesome ur horse is so cute wat breed?

don't worry about everybody else and wat they have 2 say just focus on becoming the best rider u can be!!!!

  • Good job for first time! its good that you are not throwing yourself on the horses eck...thats one habit I have developed overtime and it sometimes ends up with me eating dirt ;)I know what you mean about jumping not being a strong suit, but I think you did great!

  • not bad, just really focus on staying in two point a little longer. the first line u got left behind.

a trick if u dont know i used to get bumped alot. and over a new height i jump i always grab a little mane to steady myself just to keep off the horses back whiles he jumping :]

  • tht is really gd as ur first jump i luv the horse and good canter and i go horse riding and i havet 2 have one really low:(

  • you look really good coming in! then you and him pop over it it looks awkward a little. BUT! i do not know you or the horse so all i can say is good job! lol! lovely horse!

  • I agree with Titanicheartshorses .... but you looks good still

  • you do what my riding intructor calls "pumping". At the canter, over jumps, you need a stronger two point. you kinda just let your horse bounce you over it. Try trotting x's for jumping practices! it helps!

  • nice jump, even thou it was ur first 1, next tyme ur just riding, a small jump like dat, dont lean forward like that b4 the jump, if your coming to it in canter and your readly then the horse suddenly stops, you will be over it but im not to sure about the horse . lol, the first time i ever jumped was a block 3 stright, i was messin about on my friends pony and told me jump it !!!!!! lol

    nice low

  • i agree with gallopingfree4ever. why are you cantering in your first time? jumps too big for my taste for a begginer. i started with a half raised caveletie. and simpruk138. iwaited a year and a half. depends on your ridind abilities. my coach wanted me to be insanely comfortable with flat work first. THEN small jumps. its for the best, trust me :)

  • Ok everyone! time to settle the record its starting to get dramatic! this isnt the FIRST EVER! time I have jumped! its my first one 2 one jumping lesson concentrating on jumping only! Ok I have been riding since I was 3 years old and am more than capable of jumping at least 3ft!

  • Thanks for commenting anyway! But maybe the title I put to the video should have been clearer! My bad...still sending luvv to ya all x x x x x x

  • how old are you???? i started when i was 5. i was able to jump 1'5 when i was 8. now im jumping 2'3 on a 6yr old horse because my teachers said i needed to go slower. Oh you are also pumping with your arms. sit back longer and let the pony lift you.

  • the last jump wasn't perfect, but for the first jump lesson it was good

  • My first lesson jumping i trotted to it. it took a few more weeks then i finally cantered to it.

  • I can't wait to do my first jump! i'm so anxious. u look good! but i'm just curious, how many lessons did u do before u started jumping?

  • To Simpruk138: I had to wait 3 years until i had my first jump! But some trainers like to rush their students and they jump way earlier

  • haha thanx equijumper2! arggh! i don't know if i can wait that long! lol

  • not bad for ur first lesson

  • well i dont think i need to give u anymore advice, everyone else is doing that lol, but u should listen to them, they give good advice, i wish i had advice like that when i first started. Anyway u did way better then me when i first started jumping:) good job.

  • Very good for your first time! My critique may be harsh, but its honest, and hopefuly it will help.

You are behind your horses center of gravity even while just cantering, focus on a more forward jumper seat. Not tilting, but not behind the motion either.
